A hybrid method to solve a fractional-order Newell–Whitehead–Segel equation
This paper solves fractional differential equations using the Shehu transform in combination with the q-homotopy analysis transform method (q-HATM). As the Shehu transform is only applicable to linear equations, q-HATM is an efficient technique for approximating solutions to nonlinear differential equations. In nonlinear systems that explain the emergence of stripes in 2D systems, the Newell–Whitehead–Segel equation plays a significant role. The findings indicate that the outcomes derived from the tables yield superior results compared to the existing LTDM in the literature. Maple is utilized to depict three-dimensional surfaces and find numerical values that are displayed in a table. © The Author(s) 2024
From Home to Mars. On Halil Altındere’s Space Refugee and Homeland Projects
The author examines two projects by Halil Altındere – one of leading Turkish visual artists. Both ventures originated in 2016, when Turkey severely experienced the effects of the “migration crisis” caused by, i.a. the escalation of war in neighbouring Syria. At the time, an unpreceded number of people sought refuge in Anatolia – some treated Turkey as a transit country, while others settled down on a permanent basis. At the time Halil Altındere embarked upon co-operation with two prominent members of the Syrian diaspora: Muhammad Ahmad Faris – the first Syrian cosmonaut, today a resident of Istanbul, whose story became the core of the Space Refugee project, and Mohammad Abu Hajar – an “angry young rapper” living in Berlin, with whom Halil Altındere recorded the Homeland video. Both projects pertain in different ways to the question of the complexity of being a refugee – the author of the presented reflections relates to the book Migawki z tradycji uciśnionych, in which Paweł Mościcki examined the dialectic character of the experience of exile

A new study on the Newell-Whitehead-Segel equation with Caputo-Fabrizio fractional derivative
In this research, we propose a new numerical method that combines with the Caputo-Fabrizio Elzaki transform and the q-homotopy analysis transform method. This work aims to analyze the Caputo-Fabrizio fractional Newell-Whitehead-Segel (NWS) equation utilizing the Caputo-Fabrizio q-Elzaki homotopy analysis transform method. The Newell-Whitehead-Segel equation is a partial differential equation employed for modeling the dynamics of reaction-diffusion systems, specifically in the realm of pattern generation in biological and chemical systems. A convergence analysis of the proposed method was performed. Two-dimensional and three-dimensional graphs of the solutions have been drawn with the Maple software. It is seen that the resulting proposed method is more powerful and effective than the Aboodh transform homotopy perturbation method and conformable Laplace decomposition method in the results. © 2024 the Author(s), licensee AIMS Press
2-Year-Old and 3-Year-Old Italian ALS Patients with Novel ALS2 Mutations: Identification of Key Metabolites in Their Serum and Plasma
Pathogenic variants in ALS2 have been detected mostly in juvenile cases of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), affecting mainly children and teenagers. Patients with ALS2 mutations demonstrate early onset cortical involvement in ALS. Currently, there are no effective treatment options. There is an immense need to reveal the underlying causes of the disease and to identify potential biomarkers. To shed light onto the metabolomic events that are perturbed with respect to ALS2 mutations, we investigated the metabolites present in the serum and plasma of a three-year-old female patient (AO) harboring pathogenic variants in ALS2, together with her relatives, healthy male and female controls, as well as another two-year-old patient DH, who had mutations at different locations and domains of ALS2. Serum and plasma samples were analyzed with a quantitative metabolomic approach to reveal the identity of metabolites present in serum and plasma. This study not only shed light onto the perturbed cellular pathways, but also began to reveal the presence of a distinct set of key metabolites that are selectively present or absent with respect to ALS2 mutations, laying the foundation for utilizing metabolites as potential biomarkers for a subset of ALS
The Return of Local Democracy: The CHP and the İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality
This article looks into the historical watershed of the 2019 local elections in Turkey and examines to what extent local government can empower opposition parties under the conditions of autocratic consolidation. The author looks into the case of the Metropolitan Municipality in Istanbul and argues that the administrative capacity-building and the cadre development, which the main opposition accomplished once in power can reinvigorate opposition politics and allow for the emergence of alternative power centres that may eventually challenge the incumbent
Power Relationships between Russia, the Crimea and the Ottoman Empire as Reflected in Titulature. Part 2.
The given article is a Russian translation of the Turkish historian (of the Crimean Tatar origin) Halil Inalcik`s work “Power Relationships between Russia, the Crimea and the Ottoman Empire as Reflected in Titulature”. The author focuses attention on changes in titulature of Russian tsars and other rulers in the context of changes in mutual power relationships between the states. The author also analyses economic relationships between the given countries, pays attention to the tribute paid by the neighboring countries to the Crimean Khanate. The author stresses the most important of them: uluğ hazine, koltka, tiyiş, bölek, vergi, pişkeş. The essence of tribute sent to the Crimean Khan, his family members, officials, begs and servants is carefully considered
The novel numerical solutions for time-fractional Fornberg-Whitham equation by using fractional natural transform decomposition method
The time-fractional partial differential equations were solved by the fractional natural transform decomposition method. Fractional derivatives are Caputo sense. The Fornberg-Whitham equation is a generalization of the Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation, which describes the propagation of long waves in shallow water. It includes higher-order dispersion terms, making it applicable to a wider range of dispersive media the fractional natural transform decomposition method (FNTDM) was also used to examine applications, and the solutions obtained by this method have been compared to those obtained by the variational iteration method, fractional variational iteration method, and homotopy perturbation method. In addition, the MAPLE package drew graphs of the solutions of nonlinear time-fractional partial differential equations, taking into account physics. The method described in this study exhibited a notable degree of computational precision and straightforwardness when used to the analysis and resolution of intricate phenomena pertaining to fractional nonlinear partial differential equations within the domains of science and technology. © 2024 the Author(s)
