Precision Recess of AlGaN/GaN with Controllable Etching Rate Using ICP-RIE Oxidation and Wet Etching
No full textA method for highly controllable etching of AlGaN/GaN for the fabrication of high sensitivity HEMT based sensors is developed. The process consists of cyclic oxidation of nitride with O2 plasma using ICP-RIE etcher followed by wet etching of the oxidized layer. Previously reported cyclic oxidation-based GaN etching obtained very slow etching rate (∼0.38nm/cycle), limited by oxidation depth. The proposed approach allows fine control of the oxidation enabling the formation of accurately controlled recess of very thin (20∼30nm) barrier layers. With optimized power settings, etch rates from ∼0.6 to ∼11nm/cycle were obtained. AFM results did not show any increase in surface roughness after etching, indicating that surface quality of the etched layer was not affected by the etching process.</p
Gifted Students in the Spanish Education System: Reflections on Conceptualization and Identification Issues
No full textThis paper presents a synthesis of some of the conceptual problems related with the development of services offered to gifted students in the Spanish education system, mainly in the non-university levels. Thus, it seems essential to focus on the theoretical approach of the preeminent models in the most relevant scientific literature that allow us to get a minimum operational conceptualization of the concepts of ability and talent. On the other hand, the problems derived from the lacking identification processes in public and private schools are analyzed. Some considerations to relevant identification models based on the "out of level" measures are payed particular attention for their methodological and practical importance and for having been implemented by the author for years in Spain.El presente trabajo recoge una apretada síntesis de algunos de los problemas conceptuales que están directamente relacionados con el desarrollo de la atención a los estudiantes con alta capacidad en el sistema educativo español, preferentemente no universitario. Así, parece esencial centrarse en el enfoque teórico de los modelos preeminentes en la literatura científica más relevante que permitan arribar a una mínima conceptualización operativa de los conceptos de capacidad y talento. Por otra parte, se analizan los problemas derivados de la identificación y su evidente déficit en las escuelas públicas y privadas. No full textAl langere tijd was bekend dat de Europese Commissie de Richtlijn industriële emissies (RIE) evalueert. De richtlijn is van toepassing op de meest milieubelastende industriële installaties en veehouderijen in de Europese Unie, zo’n 52.000 in totaal. In 2020 zijn de uitkomsten van deze evaluatie gedeeld. Diffusion of Japanese Sports Anime in France: Assessment and Review of Issues
No full textIn the late 1980s and during the 1990s, in France, Japanese sports-themed animated films were very popular among French children, to such an extent that French youth enrolments in certain sports clubs significantly increased. This phenomenon occurred in spite of the substantial differences between Japanese and French sport cultures; for example in Japan, sports are considered as a way of practicing discipline, while in France it is viewed as a recreational activity. This article examines our quantitative analysis of sports-themed animated films produced in Japan and assesses the impact of these animated films broadcast in France. This research is a library research which is entirely obtained from written sources. This research focused on the novel Kembalikan Karya Rie Handra J. The theory used is literary psychology and includes the classification of emotions. The method used is data collection, data analysis, and presentation of analysis results.
The results of personality analysis are composed of three main systems, in the form of id, ego, and superego in the novel Kembalikan the work of Rie Handra J. The form of the id is; Rizal wants to solve the problem, wants to make a novel, and Rizal wants to turn off the kitchen lights and the water tap in his chilli. The form of the ego, namely; asked for help from his aunt Deny or ran away from the city, went to a haunted mental hospital, and Rizal checked and immediately turned on the lights and turned off his boarding water. The form of the superego is; Rizal escaped from ghosts, sought information about the haunted hospital, and suddenly the water and the lamp came out of his own after being checked by Rijal. Emotional classification also appears which is shown by the main character and is inseparable from the role of id, ego, and superego he has, the author finds several emotion classifications of Rijal as the main character, including; emotional classification of guilt, classification of emotions of guilt being harbored, classification of emotions of self-punishment, classification of emotions of shame, classification of emotions of sadness, and classification of emotions of love.

Military Regimes, Political Power and Human Rights Violations in Postcolonial Algeria
No full textFollowing Algeria’s bloody war of independence, a new, revolutionary military establishment gradually formed out of several largely independent revolutionary units, stationed mostly on Algeria’s borders. It soon expanded with the addition of revolutionary fighters from within Algeria, and from French-trained forces, many of whom had fought against the revolutionary forces during the Revolution, and had deserted late in the war from the French military to join the new Algerian military. A particularly powerful group of officers emerged from the latter group, the “French Officers,” who apparently engaged in a long-term and ultimately successful bid for national political power.
This thesis, which is concerned with the politics behind the massive human rights violations in Algeria, particularly the periods immediately after Independence, and between 1991 and 2002, the “Algerian Civil War,” seeks to explore a central question: why did the Algerian military turn against its own people? While not denying the role of other groups (e.g., religious groups, ethnic groups) in the violence, the central focus of this thesis is on the distinctive and effective structure and role of the military, which was apparently the dominant political power in Algeria after Independence, and particularly on the role of the French Officers, who appear to have manipulated the presidency through coups d’état and assassinations, in their struggle to achieve political hegemony in Algeria by the 1990s. Central to this was the role played after Independence by Houari Boumédiène in establishing political and military organisations that were particularly susceptible to the growing influence of the French Officers.
Central topical foci of the thesis include examinations of the possible effects (on the central question, listed above) of: professionalization of the military; civil-military relations; historical influences; ethnic and religious influences; political parties and party formation; corruption and economic opportunism; international relations and continuing French influence; and the unique role of the French Officers in the national politics of Algeria.
Methodologies used in this study included the analysis of elite (non-random) interviews, based upon a questionnaire approved by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Research Ethics Committee, which the author conducted in Europe and via “Skype” with nearly two dozen prominent Algerian expatriates, for the most part in exile, including former civilian leaders and military officers. Historical analysis was also a central part of the methodology, as well as discourse analysis applied to significant memoirs and newspaper accounts.
The thesis concludes that the immediate self-interests of the French Officers had a determinate effect on politics in Algeria, and particularly on the way in which the military turned against its own people after 1991. The continuing support that the French Officers apparently received from France, while not unexpected, is surprising in its extent and continuity, particularly after acts of terrorism thought to be linked to the Algerian government occurred in France. An unexpected finding of this research is the significance of corruption and economic opportunism in the Algerian military regime’s long-term strategy
Department of Educational Psychology & Counseling handbook : a tool for graduate student success
No full textAccording to the Digest of Education Statistics (1999), in 1998, 24% of the U.S. population had completed four or more years of college. Also, in 1998, about 5 percent of persons 25 years old or over held a master's degree as their highest degree. Graduate student enrollment has been increasing at California State University of Northridge (CSUN). The College of Education has the highest enrollment rate of graduate students in the university. As graduate student enrollment keeps rising, it is important for the College of Education and its departments to recognize the needs of students and provide tools for students to succeed in their educational endeavors. The purpose of this project is the development of a handbook to help ease the transition of the first year graduate students in the Department of Educational Psychology & Counseling (EPC), the largest graduate department at CSU1...J". Reviewing many handbooks from other universities with similar graduate programs in counseling helped in the development of this handbook. The author also consulted the EPC Department Chair (Dr. Rie Rogers Mitchell), option coordinators/advisors, and staff in the department in order to develop this handbook. The handbook is to be used as a resource manual. It includes information about academic policies for the university and the department, program descriptions and requirements, career development resources, and other related information. Research on Deep RIE-based Through-Si-Via Micromachining for 3-D System-in-package Integration
No full textThis paper reports the designing/simulation and experimental investigation into the Deep RIE-based micro-fabrication of through-Si-via (TSV) which acts as the vital vertical interconnect for compact 3-D system-in-package integration. An in-house developed process simulator based on cell/string evolution algorithm and physical modeling is used to explore suitable DRIE conditions for drilling vias with various sections, especially those with tapered profile. The effectiveness of the simulator is verified with process trials. Optimal deposition parameters are obtained for conformal formation of insulation, barrier and seed layers for electro-plating via filling. Combined with additives, Periodic Pulse Reverse current plating is utilized for satisfying bottom-up blind-via filling.
