    No full text
Palabras claves: tecnolog?a, equipamiento, arroz, producci?n

Models in Management Science: Issues in Implementation

    Get PDF
Based on an empirical analysis of several real-life case studies in this paper, we identify the key drivers for maximizing the chances of successful implementation of management science models. The choice of (technique) methodology used, model sophistication, top management involvement, training and orientation of middle management cadre in the organization, intensity of competition, perceived fear and anxiety in implementing the new solution procedure by the front-line staff, and the involvement of an implementation agency in the organization emerge as some of the key elements that influence the effectiveness of the implementation process. Based on the experience of these situations, we propose a broad framework for an effective implementation of management science model.

The diffusion through social networks popularizes the architectural fact. Its visibility contributes to awakening an international sensitivity that in many cases ends with political and social decisions for the benefit of the conservation of architecture. This article addresses, as a case study, the recent demolition proposal of Louis Kahn’s IIMA, in Ahmedabad (India). On this example, it is studied how the messages that circulate in the digital media can be directed to achieve some aspect related to their conservation. The methodology of this research has been fundamentally experimental, in which different variables have been considered: the architectural reality of the building (the IIMA); the news published in different digital media; and how long the news has been active. The GDELT Project is used as a tool to analyze the communicative narratives present on the internet network.HUM-1056 Universidad de Granada (España

Foreign R&D centres in India : an analysis of their size, structure and implications

The main objective of the working paper series of the IIMA is to help faculty members, research staff and doctoral students to speedily share their research findings with professional colleagues and test their research findings at the pre-publication stage. IIMA is committed to maintain academic freedom. The opinion(s), view(s) and conclusion(s) expressed in the working paper are those of the authors and not that of IIMA.The study measures contributions of multinational corporations (MNCs) to the generation of innovations from India. The focus is on innovations that are carried out in foreign research and development (R&D) centres. Analysis of the survey data suggests that the primary objective of MNC R&D centers in India is not market seeking; the resource seeking dimension seems to dominate. Development of new technologies for global and regional markets is more important than modifying/adapting technologies for local market needs or manufacturing requirements. In that sense, the activities of these R&D centers are more ‘knowledge augmenting’ than ‘knowledge exploiting.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
