The article is a response to Paolo Merlo’s critique of A. Fumagalli’s book, L’amore possibile. Persone omosessuali e morale cristiana. After carefully examining the reasons adopted by Merlo to demonstrate the fragility and insufficiency of the arguments put forward in the book in favor of the ethical legitimacy – within certain limits – of homosexual love, their inconsistency is brought to light and thus the inadequacy of the examination made by the author in his critique of the book.L’articolo è una risposta alla ricognizione critica di Paolo Merlo al libro di A. Fumagalli, L’amore possibile. Persone omosessuali e morale cristiana.

This paper intends to deal with the urgency of introducing young ones (and no only) to approciate reading. This question is, at present, more relevant than in the past because to children are offerd more and more, richer and richer picture-books. The author does not depreciate these narrative products, but wishes to address her attention to the fact that this kind of storytelling must not be exsclusive and must be (or ought to be) accompanied by ordinary books so to stimulate, with their black written lines, children imagination with potential educational implications. Amd, what is imagination? Which in the relation between written words and imagination? What is the educational meaning of imagination? These are the main thems of this paper, which considers some outstanding authors of children literature and their meaningful titles
CD85j (leukocyte Ig-like receptor-1/Ig-like transcript 2) inhibits human osteoclast-associated receptor-mediated activation of human dendritic cells.
Immature dendritic cells (DCs) derived from freshly isolated human monocytes were used to evaluate the effect of the inhibiting receptor CD85j (leukocyte Ig-like receptor-1/ILT2) on activation induced by cross-linking of the human osteoclast- associated receptor (hOSCAR). CD85j and hOSCAR were expressed consistently at the same density on monocytes and on monocyte-derived DCs (both immature and mature). Cross-linking of hOSCAR, which activates via the FcR-associated γ- chain, induced Ca2+ flux in DCs. Concomitant cross-linking of anti-CD85j mAb abolished this early activation event. Likewise, CD85j stimulation strongly reduced IL-8 and IL-12 production by hOSCAR-activated DCs. Inhibition of DCs via CD85j also impaired their ability to enhance Ag-specific T cell proliferation induced by hOSCAR. Finally, because hOSCAR prevents apoptosis of DCs in the absence of growth/survival factors, CD85j cross-linking was able to counteract completely this antiapoptotic effect and to reduce Bcl-2 expression enhanced by hOSCAR stimulation. Thus, CD85j is an inhibiting receptor that is functional in human DCs
Le strutture interne tra Sei e Settecento
The article focuses on the history of some functional buildings inside the Venetian fortification known as "Castello" in Brescia. After the construction of the new bastions finally designed in 1588, Venetian government started to build other necessary structures to make the new fortress operative: barracks, a military hospital, barns, armories, gunpowder depot, mills and water cisterns. Through the analysis of cartography and written primary sources, the author dates the exact construction of these buildings and infrastructures, some of which are still existing, while other has been demolished
Dual effect of CD85/leukocyte Ig-like receptor-1/Ig-like transcript 2 and CD152 (CTLA-4) on cytokine production by antigen-stimulated human T cells

The analysis of 710 published documents has allowed the author to trace in outline the history of the local notary and to identify some clerics who work among the notaries for the institution in the second half of the thirteenth century
This investigative study discusses recognition on CAGE relating it to workers’ mental health. It shows the formal and informal recognition that workers encounter at their workplace. It used interviews as a method, highlighting the analytical chracter of the speeches. They are analyzed through chosen theme axes that arise from workers’ speeches and their approach to the issues concerning recognition brought up by the researcher. The relationship between pleasure and suffering at work is analyzed in the study and forms of recognition are presented. It classifies the following theme axes: position, earnings, courses offered, physical environment, emotional environment, authority of function and knowledge. It associates all these items to the workers’ physical and mental health. The main author used is Christophe Dejours, as well as authors from the Brazilian School of Psychodynamics of Work, such as Álvaro Merlo and Ana Magnólia Mendes. These authors research and bring the French theory to the Brazilian reality. The study concludes by pointing out how workers deal with the presence or absence of recognition, as well as how they find ways to obtain it at their jobs. Although workers claim that recognition might not exist and that workers are not clear enough in the study, recognition is a subject of interest and encourages the interviewees’ speech. It is evident that recognition is essential for relationships at work and may occur in public spaces and the relationships between a boss and a worker
Distributed Storage for the Provision of Ancillary Services to the Main Grid: Project PRESTO
AbstractThis paper presents the three-year PRESTO research project (2013-2015). PRESTO is a self-funded project developed by the Department of Energy of Politecnico di Milano in cooperation with FIAMM Storage, Elvi Energy and MCM Energy Lab (an Italian spin-off). Within the project, experimental tests and numerical simulations were performed in order to evaluate the effectiveness of an Energy Storage System (ESS) in the provision of ancillary services to the main grid. This paper focuses specifically on the experimental and numerical analyses carried out in the project to develop an innovative control law for the primary frequency regulation, able to maximize the performances of the regulating service and effectively manage the ESS state of charge
Serum LAIR-2 is increased in autoimmune thyroid diseases.
Leukocyte-associated Ig-like receptor (LAIR) is a small family-receptor able to inhibit immune cell function via collagen binding. It exists as both membrane-bound and soluble forms. LAIR-1 functions as an inhibitory receptor on natural killer cells, T lymphocytes and monocytes. In addition to LAIR-1, the human genome encodes LAIR-2, a soluble homolog. Several studies have focused on LAIR-1, whereas few investigations concentrate on the expression and function of LAIR-2. We demonstrate the presence of high LAIR-2 levels in 74/80 sera from patients with autoimmune thyroid diseases (both Graves' disease and autoimmune thyroiditis). LAIR-2 levels seemed not to be related to specific clinical manifestations, such as thyroid functions (hypo- or hyperthyroidism), or specific clinical features (such as ophtalmopathy). In addition, serum LAIR-2 is able, in vitro, to bind its natural ligand, collagen. Since LAIR-2 has been found to have higher affinity for collagens than LAIR-1 did, we hypothesize a potential regulating capability of serum LAIR-2 in finally regulating the inhibitory capability of LAIR-1
