For a Lyapunov function candidate whose entries are polynomials, we calculate its first- and second-order derivatives in order to facilitate the use of Itos differential role. Then, a sufficient condition for the existence of a feasible solution to the addressed distributed H1 filtering problem is derived in terms of parameter-dependent linear matrix inequalities (PDLMIs). For computational convenience, these PDLMIs are further converted into a set of sums of squares (SOSs) that can be solved effectively by using the semidefinite programming technique.     Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Increasing Distributed Generation Penetration using Soft Normally-Open Points

    This paper considers the effects of various voltage control solutions on facilitating an increase in allowable levels of distributed generation installation before voltage violations occur. In particular, the voltage control solution that is focused on is the implementation of `soft' normally-open points (SNOPs), a term which refers to power electronic devices installed in place of a normally-open point in a medium-voltage distribution network which allows for control of real and reactive power flows between each end point of its installation sites. While other benefits of SNOP installation are discussed, the intent of this paper is to determine whether SNOPs are a viable alternative to other voltage control strategies for this particular application. As such, the SNOPs ability to affect the voltage profile along feeders within a distribution system is focused on with other voltage control options used for comparative purposes. Results from studies on multiple network models with varying topologies are presented and a case study which considers economic benefits of increasing feasible DG penetration is also given

    Variations on the Author

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    A reference model for the consumption of protected content in home networks

    Current standardization efforts in proposing home network reference models focus too much on the underlying network communication technology. They all present a lack of a higher-level functionality abstraction, that the present industry-driven paper intends to fill, by proposing a reference model aimed at abstracting the logic of the consumption of protected content in home networks. The main characteristic of this reference model will be to become applicable to a wide variety of home network configurations, independently from the underlying network technology. In that configuration the original contribution of this paper is to propose a novel approach to modeling home networks by extracting a common logic from a variety of physical implementations
