Here, for the first time we report a neodymium mode-locked fiber laser emitting at 905 nm in the all-fiber polarization maintaining configuration. We obtain a self-starting pulse generation in nonlinear amplifying loop mirror (NALM) cavity configuration. To suppress a dominant emission at 1064 nm corresponding to a 4-level laser scheme, we use an active fiber - 920/1064 division multiplexer - active fiber sandwich-like sequence in the NALM loop. A rectangular shape dissipative soliton had nJ energy, 30 pm spectral width and 80 ÷ 430 ps width linearly depending on the pump power. Excellent agreement with numerical simulation allowed us to recover pulse shape and width for the pulses out of autocorrelation window.Peer reviewe

Long-term sequalae of pelvic inflammatory diseases Sitnik P., Levkovska V. Odessa National Medical University, Odessa, Ukraine SUMMARY The aim of the study was to assess the long-term sequalae of pelvic inflammatory diseases amongst females living in the Southern Ukraine region. The most common sequela of PID was chronic pelvic pain (24.4% in 12 months after treatment, 69.2% - in 24 months, 80.0% - in 36 months). No cases of eutopic pregnancies were recorded during all follow-up period but 3 (4.0%) cased of ectopic pregnancies were recorded. 4 patients experienced recurrent PID episodes during this period. The long term sequalae of PID were associated with severe disease, delay in treatment and recurrent infection. Thus early diagnosis and intervention in the cases of acute PID are drastically important for the prevention of further long-term sequalae. When considering preventive strategies, prevention of recurrent PID is an important goal as it has been shown that the sequalae of PID could be worsened with repeated episodes of PID. Key words: pelvic inflammatory disease, sequalae, reproductive healt

Father Aleksander Krzysztof Sitnik OFM Research on the History of Po lish Bernardines (Historiographic Achievements 2006–2019)

Father Aleksander Krzysztof Sitnik OFM (born in 1971) belongs to the Franciscan branch of the Order of Friars Minor of the Province of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, called Bernardine in Poland. In his works, he deals with issues concerning the broadly understood history of the Bernardine provinces of the Order of Friars Minor in Poland, starting from 1453. He devotes this research to the history of individual monasteries from the male and female branches, and their historical discourse leads to modern times, because, as he believes, the atmosphere after 1945 was not conducive to publishing works analyzing the history of the Church in Poland, or even more exploring the activities of convents. The author conducts scientific research on the border of biography, prosopography and source editing. The article analyzes the current writing output of Father Sitnik, which the author published in the years 2006–2019, i.e. from the time he obtained his doctoral degree until his habilitation in March 2020. This oeuvre increased by as many as 250 items, and the total number of all author’s publications is as many as 272 books and articles. O. Aleksander Krzysztof Sitnik OFM (ur. 1971 r.) należy do franciszkańskiej gałęzi Zakonu Braci Mniejszych prowincji Niepokalanego Poczęcia NMP, nazywanych w Polsce bernardynami.

Sinenko, V. V. Sitnik   Odessa National Medical University, Ukraine [email protected]   Abstract Assisted reproductive technologies (ART) become more and more popular. The objective: to determine the frequency and structure of congenital malformations in children born as a result of application of ART (ICSI) with taking into consideration anamnestic factors. Materials and methods: 74 children born after ART (ICSI) aged 1 month - 7 y. o. were examined. The presence of CM is confirmed by the data of laboratory and instrumental investigations. Along with clinical examination of the children the analysis of the antenatal and perinatal period was carried out, particular attention was paid to the study of the preconceptual stage peculiarities. The results and discussion: In the structure of CM those of cardiovascular system predominated with the share of (72.2 ± 10.5)%. Ventricular septal defect was diagnosed in (4. 1±2. 3)% in the group of the children under examination and this exceeds the general population figures. The combination of cardiac defects with other anomalies was observed in (16.7 ± 8, 8)% of children. CM of the digestive system were mainly represented by small anomalies of development and were diagnosed in (13. 5 ± 3. 9)% of the children. CM of the urinary tract was detected in (5. 4 ± 2.6) % of the examined children. Congenital defects of the musculoskeletal system were detected in (8. 1 ± 3. 2)% of the children. Congenital defects of the CNS were diagnosed in (4, 1±2, 3)% of  the children.  The influence of various factors on the emergence of defects and anomalies of development was analyzed. CM’s emergence was significantly influenced by mother’s age (χ2 = 4.18, p = 0.04). The association of CMs emergence  with anemia during the pregnancy was revealed (χ2= 5, 89, р = 0, 01) also. Conclusions: In ART children congenital defects and malformations anomalies of the cardiovascular, urinary, digestive, musculoskeletal and sensory organs were the most frequent. The incidence of anomalies is associated with a state of somatic and reproductive health of the mother. Key words: assisted reproductive technology, congenital defect and malformation

Ionization-induced star formation - IV. Triggering in bound clusters

    No full text
We present a detailed study of star formation occurring in bound star-forming clouds under the influence of internal ionizing feedback from massive stars across a spectrum of cloud properties. We infer which objects are triggered by comparing our feedback simulations with control simulations in which no feedback was present. We find that feedback always results in a lower star formation efficiency and usually but not always results in a larger number of stars or clusters. Cluster mass functions are not strongly affected by feedback, but stellar mass functions are biased towards lower masses. Ionization also affects the geometrical distribution of stars in ways that are robust against projection effects, but may make the stellar associations more or less subclustered depending on the background cloud environment. We observe a prominent pillar in one simulation which is the remains of an accretion flow feeding the central ionizing cluster of its host cloud and suggest that this may be a general formation mechanism for pillars such as those observed in M16. We find that the association of stars with structures in the gas such as shells or pillars is a good but by no means foolproof indication that those stars have been triggered and we conclude overall that it is very difficult to deduce which objects have been induced to form and which formed spontaneously simply from observing the system at a single time.Peer reviewe

Memoirs of Bernardine Sister Weronika Kempa from the period of World War II

    No full text
During World War II, the Bernardine Sisters from Łowicz were involved in intense charitable activities. In the September campaign during the Battle of Bzura, the Bernardine Sisters Convent was transformed into a hospital. Sisters organized beds for patients, underwear, bedding and food. They helped Polish offi cers imprisoned in Blich (the district of Łowicz) and those who waited for the deportation to Germany. They also provided assistance to the Jews from the ghetto of Łowicz. In 1944 they freed 150 children exported from Warsaw to Germany after the Warsaw Uprising and took them to the convent. There, they organized an orphanage for children who lost parents in the war. The person who was especially involved in that kind of activity was Weronika Kempa, the author of the memoirs of that time

A SHORT SURVEY OF RECENT RESULTS ON BUSCHMAN-ERDELYI TRANSMUTATIONS

    No full text
This short survey paper contains brief historical information, main known facts and original author's results on the theory of the Buschman-Erdelyi transmutations and some of their applications. The operators of Buschman-Erdelyi type were fi rst studied by E. T. Copson, R. G. Buschman and A. Erdelyi as integral operators. In 1990' s the author was fi rst to prove the transmutational nature of these operators and published papers with detailed study of their properties. This class include as special cases such famous objects as the Sonine-Poisson-Delsarte transmutations and the fractional Riemann-Lioville integrals. In this paper, the Buschman-Erdelyi transmutations are logically classi fi ed as operators of the fi rst kind with special case of zero order smoothness operators, second kind and third kind with special case of unitary Sonine-Katrakhov and Poisson-Katrakhov transmutations. We study such properties as transmutational conditions, factorizations, norm estimates, connections with classical integral transforms. Applications are considered to singular partial di ff erential equations, embedding theorems with sharp constants in Kipriyanov spaces, Euler-Poisson-Darboux equation including Copson lemma, generalized translations, Dunkl operators, Radon transform, generalized harmonics theory, Hardy operators, V. Katrakhov's results on pseudodi ff erential operators and boundary-value problems of new kind for equations with solutions of arbitrary growth at the isolated singularity for elliptic partial di ff erential equations
