Bakgrunden till dessa mål är ett bedrägeri där en försäkringsförmedlare uppmanat ett stort antal privatpersoner att investera i finansiella instrument för att sedan själv tillgodogöra sig inveseringsbeloppen. När kunderna vände sig till förmedlarens ansvarsförsäkringsgivare möttes de av invändningen att försäkringen endast täckte verksamhet enligt lagen om försäkringsförmedling, vilket det inte ansågs ha varit fråga om i det aktuella fallet. Högsta domstolen har i avgörandet NJA 2019 s. 638 II tagit ställning till om utförande av förberedande arbete inför ingåendet av ett försäkringsavtal omfattas av begreppet försäkringsförmedling, även om försäkringsförmedlaren inte haft för avsikt att ingå ett verkligt försäkringsavtal.[Not 1] I avgörandet aktualiseras även frågor om den skadelidandes direktkravsrätt samt om avtalstolkningsprinciper.</p
Three Ancient Reports of Near-Death Experiences: Bremmer Revisited
No full textABSTRACT: In the modern literature, the so-called 'vision of Er,' told by Plato, and the 'vision of Thespesius,' recorded by Plutarch, have sometimes been cited as examples of ancient near-death experiences (NDEs). However, in a recent study, classicist Jan Bremmer (2002) impugned this interpretation. In this article, I offer a fresh analysis of these two texts that challenges Bremmer's stance and that vindicates the similarity between the ancient reports and modern NDEs. The vision of Er emerges as the oldest known direct account of an NDE. I add to these cases Plutarch's description of the 'vision of Timarchus' as an example of an ancient NDE provoked by extreme isolation. Comparison of these reports of NDEs from antiquity with modern analogues suggests a few additional characteristic traits of NDEs. By a near-death experience (NDE), medical professionals understand a range of experiences obtained by some people during a close brush with death, such as near-drowning, a fall, a traffic accident, or clinical death when any measurable activity in the heart or brain has ceased yet a recovery is made and the person regains the ability to communicate. Hardware implementation of digital signal processing algorithms for long distance pipeline inspections
No full textInspections on transmission pipelines in the petrochemical industry are regularly conducted in order to guarantee safety of operations. Inspection devices are sent through the lines to record sensor data, this data needs to be post-processed in order to be able to make an analysis on the state of the pipeline. In this thesis, existing software implementations of post-processing algorithms are taken and implemented in VHDL code. This code is synthesizable for implementation in a field programmable gate array (FPGA). Goal is to reduce the time require for post-processing. A test environment is implemented which is able to feed data to the FPGA and receive the processed data back. This environment consists of a Linux PC, which communicates in DMA mode over the PCI-Express bus to the FPGA. The test environment is functional, it shows a performance increase of eight to fourteen times compared to the software implementation.
