    DENDROCHRONOLOGICAL STUDY OF A SELECTED FACILITY IN KROPA

    V sodelovanju z Zavodom za kulturno dediščino – osnovna enota Kranj smo opravili raziskavo lesenih konstrukcij v hiši v Kropi, ki so jo v letu 2016 prenavljali. Ker je bila stavba na nespremenjenem tlorisu v zadnjih stoletjih verjetno večkrat prenovljena in nadzidana, smo želeli opraviti identifikacijo in dendrokronološke analize lesa. Odvzeli smo 18 vzorcev lesa iz talnih in stenskih konstrukcij v prvem in drugem nadstropju. Identifikacija lesa je pokazala, da so konstrukcije iz lesa jelke (Abies alba) in smreke (Picea abies). V prvem nadstropju je prevladoval les jelke (78 % odvzetih vzorcev). Les je imel v splošnem malo branik, datirali pa smo en element z letom zadnje branike 1628, ki ga moramo obravnavati kot terminus post quem. V drugem nadstropju je prevladoval les smreke (70 % odvzetih vzorcev). Datacije zadnjih branik pa nakazujejo gradbeno fazo po letu 1885. Naloga predstavlja prvo sistematično raziskavo (identifikacijo in dendrokronološko analizo) lesa v stavbi v Kropi in nudi izhodišče za podrobnejšo rekonstrukcijo gradbenih faz ob upoštevanju drugih razpoložljivih zgodovinskih virov.In cooperation with the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia – Regional office Kranj, we carried out a study of wooden structures in a house in Kropa, which they were renovating in 2016. The building has been renovated and built onto several times over the recent past centuries, while the floor plan has remained unchanged. Therefore we wanted to carry out the identification and dendrochronological analysis of the wood. We took 18 samples of wood from the floor and wall structures in the first and in the second floor. Identification of the wood revealed that the structures were made of silver fir (Abies alba) and Norway spruce (Picea abies). Wood identification analyses showed that the wood in the first floor is predominantly silver fir (78 % of the samples). In general, the wood had only a few annual rings, but we did discover one element with the outermost annual ring from the year 1628, which must be considered as terminus post quem. The wood in the second floor is predominantly Norway spruce (70 % of samples). The dating of the outermost annual rings indicates that the wooden construction was constructed after the year 1885. This project represents the first systematic survey (identification and dendrochronological analysis) of wood in the building in Kropa and offers a starting point for a more detailed reconstruction of construction phases, taking into account other available historical sources

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    V magistrski nalogi je predstavljeno koncipiranje in snovanje rotirajoče razstavne ploščadi za avto. V prvem delu je izdelan zahtevnik, na podlagi katerega se je izdelala funkcijska analiza. Nato so predstavljene konceptne rešitve delnih funkcij. Na podlagi rešitev delnih funkcij sta se izdelala variantna koncepta A in B. V drugem delu je predstavljeno snovanje izbranega koncepta. V sklopu snovanja je bila izdelana numerična analiza nosilne konstrukcije osrednjega segmenta ter določitev moči pogona in sile prednapetja vzmeti.The master\u27s thesis presents the concept and design of a rotating exhibition platform for a car. In the first part, a check list was made, and a functional analysis was made on the basis of the check list. Then the conceptual solutions of partial functions are presented. Based on the solutions of partial functions, variant concepts A and B were created. In the second part, the design of the selected concept is presented. As part of the design, a numerical analysis of the supporting structure of the central segment was made, as well as the determination of the drive power and prestressing force of a spring

    Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

    Structure and diversity of nitrifying microbial community in biofilm

    V procesu čiščenja odpadne vode na čistilnih napravah je proces nitrifikacije ključen za odstranjevanje enega od najpomembnejših hranil-dušika- z nitrifikacijskimi bakterijami. Spremljali smo proces nitrifikacije ter prisotnost, pestrost in stabilnost mikrobnih združb na osnovi zaporedij 16S rRNA in specifičnih funkcionalnih genov (npr. amoA) v industrijskih in laboratorijskih reaktorjih z imobilizirano biokulturo. Zanimalo nas je predvsem kako se združba nitrifikacijskih bakterij v imobilizirani biokulturi ali biofilmu na prosto plavajočih plastičnih nosilnih elementih Kaldnes v biofilmu odziva glede na različno kvaliteto odpadne vode ter letni čas. Mikrobno združbo na CČN Domžale-Kamnik (CČN DK) smo analizirali z metodo TRFLP in s sekvenciranjem genov za 16S rRNA in genov amoA. Z analizo TRFLP smo ugotovili, da se je, kljub nihanju strukture združbe v času, vzpostavila določena razlika med vzorci iz pilotnih sistemov z mehansko čiščeno in sintetično odpadno vodo, sama velikost (industrijski vs. mini reaktor) sistema pa ni bila pomembna. Še bolj očitna razlika med združbami, ki so bile izpostavljene različnim odpadnim vodam, se je pokazala z analizo funkcionalnega nitrifikacijskega gena amoA. In sicer so se zunanji industrijski reaktor in mini pilotni reaktorji, obremenjeni z mehansko čiščeno odpadno vodo, razlikovali tako po sestavi kot po pestrosti nitrifikacijskih mikroorganizmov. Pestrost splošne 16S rRNA mikrobne združbe je bila višja v reaktorjih z mehansko čiščeno odpadno vodo, medtem ko so reaktorji z sintetično odpadno vodo imeli večjo pestrost nitrifikacijske (amoA) mikrobne združbe. Na podlagi rezultatov sklepamo, da ima kvaliteta odpadne vode večji vpliv na sestavo združbe kot pa dejavniki okolja kot sta temperatura ali pa velikost reaktorjev.In the process of treating waste water in biological treatment plants, the nitrification process is crucial for the removal of one of the most important nutrients, i.e. nitrogen, using nitrification bacteria. The aim of our work was to produce a study of the process of nitrification itself, including an analysis of the presence, diversity and stability of microbial communities based on the 16S rRNA sequences and specific functional genes (eg. amoA) in industrial-scale and laboratory-scale reactors with immobilized bioculture. Industrial-scale reactors treat wastewater of temporary variable composition under different weather conditions, while the microbial population of wastewater treatment plants are often studied in controlled laboratory-scale systems with defined influent at a constant temperature. 16S rRNA and ammonia oxidising amoA-gene-defined bacterial community structure was investigated in industrial-scale and laboratory-scale moving bes biofilm reactor (MBBR) treating municipial wastewater or synthetic ammonium solition. Nitrification activity, 16S rRNA and amoA gene TRFLP profiles were comparable between industrial and laboratory-scale reactors with municipial wastewater. Reactors with synthetic ammonium solution exhibited higher nitrification and higher relative abundance of Nitrosomonadaceae and Nitrospiraceae families but only small changes in general bacterial community structure was detected compared to MBBR reactors treating municipial wastewater. Nitrosomonas europea lineage dominated in reactors treating municipial wastewater, whilu uncultivated Nitrosomonas-like sequences prevailed in reactors with synthetic ammonia solution. These results suggest that influent type has a stronger influence on community structure than operational conditions, such as temperature or reactor size

    Planinski terminološki slovar je petjezični razlagalni in slovar. Vsebuje 3615 poimenovanj, ki jih uporabljajo planinci, alpinisti, plezalci, odpravarji, gorski reševalci in gorski vodniki. V manjšem obsegu je prikazano tudi strokovno pogovorno in nižje strokovno pogovorno izrazje, gorsko rastlinje in živalstvo pa nista upoštevana. Iztočnice so pomensko in jezikovno opisane, ovrednotene glede na jezikovnokulturno vrednost in pogostost rabe. Angleški, nemški, francoski in italijanski ustrezniki slovenskih poimenovanj omogočajo mednarodno komunikacijo.   A Dictionary of Mountaineering Terminology is a normative explanatory dictionary in five languages. It contains 3615 terms used by mountaineers, alpinists, expedition members, mountain rescuers and mountain guides. English, German, French and Italian equivalents of the Slovenian terms enable international communication. The dictionary was compiled by a committee of experts from various generations and branches of science (A. Mlač, S. Klinar, B. Leskošek, B. Pollak, F. Savenc, P. Šegula, A. Vengust, S. B. Zupet), headed by the specialist lexicologist M. Humar
