The Secret to Popular Chinese Web Novels: A Corpus-Driven Study
Get PDFWhat is the secret to writing popular novels? The issue is an intriguing one among researchers from various fields. The goal of this study is to identify the linguistic features of several popular web novels as well as how the textual features found within and the overall tone interact with the genre and themes of each novel. Apart from writing style, non-textual information may also reveal details behind the success of web novels. Since web fiction has become a major industry with top writers making millions of dollars and their stories adapted into published books, determining essential elements of "publishable" novels is of importance. The present study further examines how non-textual information, namely, the number of hits, shares, favorites, and comments, may contribute to several features of the most popular published and unpublished web novels. Findings reveal that keywords, function words, and lexical diversity of a novel are highly related to its genres and writing style while dialogue proportion shows the narration voice of the story. In addition, relatively shorter sentences are found in these novels. The data also reveal that the number of favorites and comments serve as significant predictors for the number of shares and hits of unpublished web novels, respectively; however, the number of hits and shares of published web novels is more unpredictable

No full text在台灣的歷史發展中，曾經出現許多相當出色的政治人物，他們或多或少都曾經在台灣的政壇當中嶄露頭角，為台灣政治史寫下光輝燦爛的一頁。然而，在這麼多出色的政治人物當中，謝東閔可說是相當具有代表性的歷史人物。
謝東閔的一生，與近代台灣的歷史與政治發展息息相關，特別是在謝東閔擔任省議員以及省主席的這段期間，正好是台灣在各方面邁向發展的重要時期。因此透過謝東閔的研究，可以重新建構近代台灣歷史以及政治發展，進而了解近代台灣的歷史發展脈絡。
本文以〈謝東閔研究—以省議會問政與主持省政為中心〉為題，首先以謝東閔的家世教育以及擔任省議員前的公職經歷做為背景，之後再切入省議會問政時期以及省主席時期兩大主題。本文主要針對謝東閔在省議會問政以及主持省政的表現進行論述，並探討其在省議會問政時期的提案對於台灣中部以及省主席時期的施政對於全台的影響。In the historical development of Taiwan, political personages that to be more quite outstanding once appear, they once showed up prominently in the political of Taiwan, write a glorious and magnificent chapter for the political history of Taiwan.However, among so many outstanding political personages, Hsieh tung-min can be regarded as quite representative historical personage.

No full text[[abstract]] 本論文是以｢心靈･深觸｣為創作主題，而靈感來源是從探討自我內心觀感，從接觸到事物的第一個感受，轉化到造型作品呈現，賦予立體造形創作新的生命力，試圖把自我內心深處的感受表達出來，從藝術理論與藝術家創作實例分析，透過行動來傳達自我體驗的感知，探討自我心靈感受到美的客體形式。 藝術的創作模式隨時代潮流不斷再轉變當中，已經沒有形式上的限制，在我的創作模式中存在著不同元素的媒材，每一種媒材都象徵著自己的符號，並藉由具象與抽象、隱喻等不同方式進行藝術表現，其中第一系列作品是運用金屬為主要媒材，鐵給人的感覺是冰冷、生硬的感覺，而我所想表達的冷漠、平靜情緒相符，試圖把情緒和媒材作結合達到相輔相成的效果，賦予作品新的意義，並探討心靈之理論與藝術創作之相關性。此論文中，本人將創作理念、製作過程及形式探討加以說明，並將內容章節摘要如下：第一章敘述研究動機與目的、研究範圍及限制、研究方法與架構、名詞釋意。第二章分析雕塑造形與視覺藝術相關論述。第三章闡述創作過程。第四章經分析結果選擇作品作為例證說明。第五章結論。[[abstract]] The topic of creation of this essay was according to the Spirit and Deep feeling.The inspiration came from my mind impression. I gave the new vitality to the solid modeling creation since the first feeling of new thing that I touched, and I turned the first new feeling into the modeling works which I want to present to you. I was trying to express the feeling of self-deep inside. Analyze from the art theory and the creative experience of artist, transmit the perception of self-experience through actions, and discuss the form of object of beauty by the feeling of self-soul. The creative pattern of arts changes by the trend of the times, and there is no limit in form. There were many different elements of mediums in my creative pattern, and each medium symbolize its own sign. Then I presented art by different ways, such as abstraction, representation, metaphor and so on. The first series of my works was used metal as the main medium. Metal usually presents the cold and rigid feelings, it also matched the emotion of cold and calm which I want to presented. So I tried to combine the emotion and the medium to reach the complementary effect, then gave works new meaning and discuss the correlation between the theory of soul and the creation of art. In this essay, I will explain my creative idea, production process, and the form discussion to you.
