Revisão taxonômica e distribuição geográfica das espécies de dekeyseria rapp py-daniel, 1985 (siluriformes: loricariidae)
Dekeyseria Rapp Py-Daniel, 1985 comprises six species (D. amazonica, D. brachyura,
D. picta, D. niveata, D. pulcher e D. scaphirhyncha) with uncertain taxonomic
boundaries. Based on examination of approximately 400 specimens from different
ichthyological collections and recently sampled material, all the species were reviewed
taxonomically, (D expanding the characterization of three of them (D. amazonica, D.
picta D. scaphirhyncha), and proposing new synonyms . brachyura and D. pulchra as
synonyms of D. picta, and D. niveata as synonym of D. scaphirhyncha). Besides, two
new species are preliminarily described for the genus (Dekeyseria sp. 1 and Dekeyseria
sp. 2). Dekeyseria is diagnosed by head and body depressed, snout completely plated,
three series of plates on the caudal peduncle and three series of lateral plates on the
body with hypertrophied odontodes. The study of their characteristics resulted on the
recognition of ontogenetic variation and sex dimorphism for some species. The species
of the genus are usually associated to submerged logs in calm waters of streams and
lakes and also boulders, although not abundant, they are widely distributed in the entire
Amazon basin, including five Brazilian states, and also in the Rio Orinoco drainage, in
Venezuela and Colombia.

Hope in Environmental Philosophy
Ecological philosophy requires a significant orientation to the role of hope in both theory and practice. I trace the limited presence of hope in ecological philosophy, and outline reasons why environmental hopelessness is a threat. I articulate and problematize recent environmental publications on the topic of hope, the most important worry being that current literature fails to provide the necessary psychological grounding for hopeful action. I turn to the psychology of hope to provide direction for conceptualizing hope and actualizing hoped for states of affairs. If positive moral action is the goal, hope is a vital concept for underwriting ecological philosophy and a practice requiring considerably more attention
Abandon Hope All Ye Who Enter Here?
Hope plays an important role in all individuals’ lives both today and in the future. While hope and hopelessness are important concepts and the subjects of much theorizing in psychology, theology, philosophy, political science, nursing, as well as in literature and the arts, it is absent from economics. This silence on hope is notable since hope is fundamentally at the centre of choice, especially intertemporal choice, which is at the centre of economic analysis. To place hope at the centre of intertemporal choice, it is important to clearly define what hope is and what it is not. What hope is not is constant. Hope is not optimism; hope is not unfounded dreams divorced from reality; hope is not irrational. I distil what hope is from its characterization in a number of different disciplines. A comparison of characterizations identifies a number of commonalities and common definitions. Using the derived set of definitions, I incorporate hope into economic analysis, consider what implications hope has for the modelling of choice and for economic behaviour, and discuss whether hope is implicitly imbedded in or has been abandoned, to our eternal cost, by economics.Hope, rational choice, goal orientation, expectations, faith
The Council of Hope College Minutes
The Council of Hope College met in special session with Dr. Albertus C. Van Raalte in the chair. Prof. Crispell was present as a representative of the faculty. The gift of $5,000 from James Suydam was duly noted. That tract of land owned by Hope College on the north side of Black Lake would henceforth be called the James Suydam Farm of Hope College. Other major gifts were announced. Van Raalte made a report on his labors in the East for the endowment. The duties of the treasurer were outlined with considerable detail. Rev. E. C. Oggel was appointed editor of De Hope. Changes in teaching loads were made in view of the recent death of Prof. Pieter J. Oggel.https://digitalcommons.hope.edu/vrp_1870s/1001/thumbnail.jp
Sindrome di Rapp-Hodgkin. Espressivita fenotipica diversa in membri della stessa famiglia
A 23-year old woman with narrow nose, maxillary hypoplasia, cleft lip and palate, hypodontia, dystrophic nails and hypohidrosis is described. Her scalp hair was coarse, dry and wiry. Microscopic examination of hair showed longitudinal twisting at irregular intervals, typical of pili torti. Her mother presented only dystrophic nails and hypohidrosis. Rapp-Hodgkin syndrome is an uncommon, autosomal dominant condition characterized by distinctive craniofacial anomalies and cleft lip and palate. In the patients observed, the phenotypical manifestations were different. In fact, the proband showed all the major features of the syndrome, while her mother only onychodysplasia and hypohidrosis. The differential diagnosis between Rapp- Hodgkin syndrome and other forms of ectodermal dysplasia are discussed.

Various Eulogies in De Hope for Pieter J. Oggel
The death of Rev. Pieter J. Oggel was duly noted in this issue of De Hope. Prof. Charles Scott wrote a eulogy on behalf of the Hope College faculty. The eulogy of the theological students was written by J. Huizinga, G. Van De Kreeke, and E. Van Der Hart. The widow wrote the formal death notice. Dr. Albertus C. Van Ralate wrote a one-sentence statement about the loss of his beloved son-in-law. A long statement on behalf of the Fraternal Society was written by John A. De Spelder. The text of the funeral sermon preached by Rev. Cornelius Vander Meulen was printed in full.https://digitalcommons.hope.edu/vrp_1860s/1540/thumbnail.jp
RAPP: A Robotic-Oriented Ecosystem for Delivering Smart User Empowering Applications for Older People
International audienceIt is a general truth that increase of age is associated with a level of mental and physical decline but unfortunately the former are often accompanied by social exclusion leading to marginalization and eventually further acceleration of the aging process. A new approach in alleviating the social exclusion of older people involves the use of assistive robots. As robots rapidly invade everyday life, the need of new software paradigms in order to address the user's unique needs becomes critical. In this paper we present a novel architectural design, the RAPP [a software platform to deliver smart, user empowering robotic applications (RApps)] framework that attempts to address this issue. The proposed framework has been designed in a cloud-based approach, integrating robotic devices and their respective applications. We aim to facilitate seamless development of RApps compatible with a wide range of supported robots and available to the public through a unified online store
