Temporal characterization of the requests to Wikipedia
No full textThis paper presents an empirical study about the temporal patterns
characterizing the requests submitted by users to Wikipedia.
The study is based on the analysis of the log lines registered by the
Wikimedia Foundation Squid servers after having sent the appropriate
content in response to users' requests. The
analysis has been conducted regarding the ten most visited editions of
Wikipedia and has involved more than 14,000 million log lines
corresponding to the traffic of the entire year 2009. The conducted methodology
has mainly consisted in the parsing and filtering
of users' requests according to the study directives. As a result, relevant information
fields have been finally stored in a database for persistence and further
characterization. In this way, we, first, assessed, whether the traffic to Wikipedia could serve
as a reliable estimator of the overall traffic to all the Wikimedia Foundation
projects. Our subsequent analysis of the temporal evolutions corresponding to
the different types of requests to Wikipedia revealed interesting differences
and similarities among them that can be related to the users' attention to the Encyclopedia.
In addition, we have performed separated characterizations of each Wikipedia edition
to compare their respective evolutions over time

No full textUitgangspunten van het draaiboek ‘Triage op basis van niet-medische overwegingen voor IC-opname ten tijde van fase 3 stap C in de covid-19-pandemie’ zijn gelijkwaardigheid van patiënten, het redden van zo veel mogelijk levens en rechtvaardigheid. Vanuit deze ethische basisprincipes is een aantal criteria geformuleerd voor IC-triage op niet-medische gronden. Eén daarvan is dat zorgmedewerkers, wanneer zij opgenomen moeten worden op de IC, voorrang krijgen indien zij beroepsmatig aan covid-19 werden blootgesteld én er schaarste was aan persoonlijk beschermingsmaterialen. In dit artikel bespreken wij dit criterium vanuit een juridische invalshoek, met tevens oog voor de ethische dimensie. Het algemene kader is artikel 1 van de Grondwet. Onze zienswijze is dat voorrang voor zorgmedewerkers die een besmettingsrisico hebben gelopen zeker te rechtvaardigen is, maar dat die voorrang een fundament behoort te krijgen in de wet. Ook verdient het overweging het draaiboek zo aan te passen dat zorgmedewerkers soms ook voorrang kunnen krijgen bij IC-opname wanneer er voldoende beschermingsmateriaal is.</p

No full textThe author of the article discusses in depth ten works of art (prints, numismatic pieces, sculptures) which demonstrate iconographic consistency with the obverse or reverse of the said medal. Why is unemployment so high in Bulgaria?
No full textThe author seeks to determine the main factors behind poor labor market outcomes in Bulgaria. Unemployment in Bulgaria is high and of long duration. The accumulation of the unemployment stock has been caused by relatively high inflows into unemployment coupled with limited outflows. These features of the Bulgarian labor market are typical of other transition economies in Central Europe and exploring their sources is of broad interest. The author focuses on determinants of and constraints to job creation. He uses data on job creation and job destruction from a survey of employment in all registered firms. He finds that the source of large inflows into unemployment is intensive enterprise restructuring associated with a high pace of job reallocation. However, job creation falls short of job destruction. Three main factors account for the limited job creation and hiring, and thus for low outflows from unemployment: a) The unfriendly business environment, reflected by a low rate of new firm formation, and a relatively small, small and medium enterprise sector. b) Labor market rigidities, including excessive hiring and firing costs. c) Skill and spatial mismatches brought about by enterprise restructuring, as well as low skills and marginalization of the long-term unemployed who cannot successfully compete for new jobs. Theoretical and Experimental study on the placement of Xbloc
No full textSingle layer armouring is a state-of-the-art protection for rubble mound breakwaters. The quality of placement affects interlocking of the armour units, which is essential for the hydraulic stability of the entire armour layer. The main objective of this study is to make a detailed design of an Xbloc placement, this includes grid design, placement accuracy and quality control. The study is based on a theoretical placement analysis which is verified by large scale model tests. Single layer armour units are placed on a predefined staggered grid in order to achieve good interlocking, this creates a stable armour layer. The distance between armour units is essential for proper functioning of the armour layer. Therefore, single layer armour units shall be placed if possible with a constant horizontal and upslope placement distance, which results in a diamond-shaped placement pattern. However, the placement pattern will be distorted if the seabed level varies or if a section of breakwater is curved (bended trunk sections or roundhead). To design a placement grid for a head a theoretical model has been built, which is capable to design a grid on irregular breakwater profiles. This model is been tested in an experimental study. The proposed placement model proved to predict stable unit positions even for breakwater heads. The placement model has been recently applied for the design of a breakwater, which is currently under construction in Ireland.Civil Engineering and Geoscience

No full textThe Author deals in his work with principles of narrating mediation of the Ten Commanders to the schoolchildren from 8 to 12 years. Besides the common psychological view of development of the thinking in the age, of prevailing social roles in a family and school, she also emphasizes the development of moral judging. She also presents literally and theoretical view of narrating. The main part of the work shows the importance of narrating in passing Christian believe and moral through the Ten Commanders and New Testament ethics . The author mainly explains the concepts of "Narrating theology and "narrating ethics. She especially deals with didactic principles of narrating as a teaching method. The original contribution of the work are short stories written by the author respecting theoretic principals. That is why one part of the work is the elaboration about dreams because they became an important part of the plot of the stories. In the appendix she offers also particular suggestions of didactic using of her stories
