European Universities: Forthem e la mobilità virtuale

    No full text
The paper deals with the European Universities program and the various projects funded with the participation of Italian universities. The focus is on virtual mobility. In particular, the Digital Academy is described, as the online platform for virtual mobility, collaboration, and networking for students and members of the academic and administrative staff developed within the Forthem Project. The University of Palermo is a University partner in this project. The resulting model for learning and teaching will be illustrated

This data file contains total egg counts, midpoint of egg laying (days), mean egg laying rate per female and day, mean longevity (days) and fitness estimates per field cage held at temperate winter conditions for seven Drosophila melanogaster populations collected in 2000 (Fig. 2). Note longitudes in data are approximate. When using this data, please cite the original publication: Mitrovski, Paul and Hoffmann, Ary A. (2001). Untimely Now

    No full text
The exhibition addresses the way in which clocks are supposed to tell and keep time, presenting twelve official clocks originally installed at the main railway station in Frankfurt am Main. Detached from their point of origin and their usual purpose, these luminous, cube-shaped objects are temporarily integrated into the ICI Library, a space of books and media. The pulses of the clocks’ hands are quietly audible in the course of their rhythmic movements. The total number of dials (two per clock) corresponds to the 24 hours of a day – but instead of keeping time, they display entirely unfamiliar flows of time. Each clock is programmed individually, and hence they are not synchronized with one another. The ensemble of clocks thus no longer measures real time and they are stripped of their usual function of guiding passengers through timetables and journeys. Instead, they offer new variations of time and destabilize the viewer’s perception. Franziska and Sophia Hoffmann have been working together on mixed media installations as well as film and video projects since 2003. Questions regarding social processes, urban landscapes, and emerging technologies play an important role in their work. Found objects and technical devices are often revalued and transferred into new settings.  Both sisters have studied at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, and the Academy of Fine Arts Dresden. Currently they are teaching in the New Media department at the Technische Universität Dresden and curating film and video screenings at Motorenhalle Dresden. E.T.A. Hoffmann e Carlo Gozzi

    No full text

    08 Hoffmann & Shirriffs 2002, Wing traits

    No full text
This data file contains x and y coordinates of nine landmarks for wings and different traits related to wing shape for 19 Drosophila serrata populations collected in 2001. Measurements were taken for up to 10 isofemale lines per population. Wing_aspect was defined as wing length (the linear distance between landmarks 3 and 6) divided by the square root of wing area (here taken to be centroid size). Angle (outer-wing aspect) was defined as the angle between the vectors from landmarks 2 and 8 and the vector between landmarks 4 and 8. Wing proportion (outer_wing aspect) was defined as the linear distance between landmarks 2 and 4 divided by wing length (Fig. 2). Note longitudes in data are approximate. When using this data, please cite the original publication: Hoffmann, Ary A. and Shirriffs, Jennifer (2002). Geographic variation for wing shape in Drosophila serrata. Evolution 56: 1068-107
