Modular DNA nanopore (NP) for targeted cell killing
Cancer treatment strategies often rely on combination therapies that can be aggressive, time-consuming, and present severe side effects. To overcome these challenges, we have developed a modular therapeutic platform for targeted cell killing using self-assembling DNA nanopores (NPs). This study focuses on designing 6-helix bundle NP, featuring hydrophobic moieties that enable membrane insertion, leading to uncontrolled ion flow and ultimately to cell death. These NPs are conjugated site-specifically to rituximab, a CD20-targeting monoclonal antibody, using a dibromopyridazinedione-linker which rebridges interchain disulphides. This conjugation results in a precise 4:1 NP-to-antibody ratio, ensuring targeted delivery and cytotoxicity in B lymphocyte cells. The NPs were synthesised in a one-step assembly process and verified using electromobility shift assays (EMSA). Successful conjugation was demonstrated through SDS-PAGE, and flow cytometry confirmed the preservation of the antibody's specificity to the CD20 receptor. Furthermore, the stability of the construct was verified in serum over a three-week period at 37°C. In co-culture with a malignant B-cell line (Ramos), the cholesterol-modified NPs exhibited a 20% increase in cell death compared to untreated controls after 48 hours. This work describes the development of a stable and specific antibody-NP conjugate with defined antibody-drug ratios. The findings elucidate the potential of membrane-spanning NPs as a novel therapeutic platform for cancer treatment, with implications for future applications in various types of cancer

Factors affecting green food purchase intention in Ho Chi Minh City
This study adopts Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to measure factors affecting green food purchase intention in Ho Chi Minh city (HCMC). The survey data was collected from 197 students during the period of 1st to 20th September, 2017. Testing the conceptual model by Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), we find that perceived usefulness of green food and perceived ease of purchase impact on attitudes towards green food purchase. We also find that subjective norm, perceived usefulness of green food, attitudes towards green food purchase are positively associated with green food purchase intention. From the research findings, some recommendations are proposed accordingly
Psychological Capital and Quality of Work Life among employees in public sector: evidence from Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports
In the modern world, employee s organizational performance is seen as one of the most important factor in developing an organization for both public and private sectors. The literature review also showed a lack of empirical research on the topic in the context of Vietnam, especially in the public sector about PsyCap in relation with Performance. Therefore, this study aims to examine the impact of PsyCap and Quality of work life on employee performance in public agencies such as Department of Culture and Sport in Ho Chi Minh City. 28 questions with the seven-point Likert scale were used to the research. Respondents in this study were 157 employees working full-time in this Department in Ho Chi Minh City. SPSS 20 and AMOS 20 were used to analyze the collected data. The research findings proved the significant effect of PsyCap Performance as well as QWL and performance in the public organizations in Ho Chi Minh City. This study provides not only better understanding of the subject but also the practical implications for personnel management of the organization

The Framework for Integrated Water Management in the Thua Thien-Hue Province
The Thua Thien-Hue province is located in the centre of Vietnam. It is characterized by the short distance between the mountains in the west and the coast of the South China Sea in the east. Two large rivers flow through the province, fed by multiple smaller rivers from the mountains. The Bo River flows through the northern part of the province and ends up in the Cau Hai lagoon. The Huong River is the largest of the two and flows through Hue city ending in the Cau Hai lagoon. The coastal zone of the Thua Thien-Hue province knows a lot of water related problems, like salt intrusion and drought in the dry season and both pluvial and alluvial flooding in the rainy season. Tackling these problems requires an integrated approach that considers all problems, functions and stakeholders. This project will aim to apply a Framework for Integrated Water Management to the Thua Thien-Hue province to minimize the water related problems in the future. This framework assigns different return periods for flooding per area. An area with a high population density will suffer more damage during a flood than a rice paddy, and should have a smaller chance of flooding in order to make the water defence system economically justifiable. This way, a map is created that indicates the desired chance on flooding throughout the coastal, flood prone area of the Thua Thien-Hue province. Using a SOBEK 2D model, the flooding can be simulated. The results from this model show that the amount of water that enters the area is too large to apply traditional protection by raising dikes. Also, most houses are built near the riverbanks, making the implementation of dikes problematic. Two possible solutions were considered. The first, consisting of two bypasses, showed unrealistic as the capacity of the second bypass was insufficient. The second scenario, called “Lake Hue”, uses a reservoir as a retention area during extreme events. A dam regulates the discharge towards Hue City while a spillway towards an area with a lower population density takes care of excess water. An initial cost benefit analysis, using the results from the SOBEK model, indicates a payback time of fifteen years. After the design lifetime of 50 years, the initial investment is returned twofold.Hydraulic EngineeringCivil Engineering and Geoscience

Overview of van chai in Thue Thien Hue, Vietnam: Tradition, present and future challenges
During process of seeking methods of advanced fishery management experience to apply into small-scale fishery in Thua Thien Hue – Viet Nam, the author is surprised that some advanced countries also apply similar methods that the traditional fishing village associations (Van Chai) has been managed fishery activities in lagoons in Thua Thien Hue since feudal times. The changes by returning back to original points in order to connect and glue the traditional quintessences of fisheries management, to advanced management in foreign countries is a core in an argued approach as well as in reality of managing small - scale fishery in Thua Thien Hue- Viet Nam presently.
Based on that, this report has introduced previous fishery management in Tam Giang lagoon based on traditional fishery villages, to research ways to reform the management of small scale fisheries based upon local fisher’s associations; outlined a scenarios for fishery management patters for future based on local community in Thua Thien Hue. The system expect to solve disputes in term of fishermen, fishing grounds and fishery resources.
The report is a synthesized collection from researches of the author and relevant documents available. The findings show that fishery villages in Thua Thien Hue used to be successfully managed fishery resources through its own mechanism (regulations) and actively support of feudal authorities (a form of primary co-management) and practical experience derived from efforts to manage modern fishery. In Thua Thien Hue at present, the selectively inheritance of traditional values of fishery villages is one of potential ways in managing fishery in Tam Giang lagoon specifically.KEYWORDS: Van Chai, Fishery management, Thue Thien Hue, Vietnam, Small-scale fishery, Fisheries economics, Fishery resource
Exploring postnatal depression in Thua Thien Hue Province, Central Vietnam
Introduction\ud
\ud
Postnatal depression (PND) is an important public health issue due to its impact on maternal wellbeing, infant development, and family cohesion. The estimated prevalence of PND during the first 12 months post-partum ranges between10-20% worldwide. Whilst PND used to be considered a syndrome only occurring in western countries, there is now evidence that it occurs throughout the world, and often at higher rates in low and middleincome countries. To date, there has been little research into PND in South East Asia and only two community-based surveys in Vietnam, one in Ho Chi Minh City in 1999 and one in Hanoi and Ha Nam in 2009. This study will investigate health worker attitudes about risk and protective factors for PND among women in Thua Thien Hue province in central Vietnam. \ud
\ud
Methodology\ud
\ud
In 2009, 23 health professionals participated in qualitative exploratory research of postnatal depression in Hue. This included two focus groups with 12 health professionals who completed a concept mapping process, and in-depth interviews with another 11 health professionals. \ud
\ud
Results\ud
\ud
Many factors relating to postnatal depression were identified including socio-economic status, son preference, mother’s health, infant health, social support from family and the community, and health promoting behaviours. In-depth interviews highlighted community knowledge and attitudes surrounding PND such as traditional confinement practices and fear of experiencing stigma. \ud
\ud
Conclusion\ud
\ud
The findings of this research will be used to plan a substantial community-based quantitative survey in order to establish prevalence of PND and surrounding social determinants in central Vietnam
