The concentration while studying is very important for students to understand the lesson given by teacher. It is difficult for normal students to maintain a stable concentration while studying, especially for students with autism. Students with autism has a weakness in various aspects, especially to concentrate while studying. To increase the concentration of students with autism, teachers need specific strategies.
This study aims to identify and assess the characteristics of students with autism, to analyze the teacher’s methods used in improving the concentration of students with autism while studying and to analyze the impact of teacher’s method that is implemented to enhance the concentration of students with autism while studying in SDN Junrejo 01 and SDN Tlekung 01 Batu.
This case study employs a qualitative approach using multi-site design. The techniques of collecting the data are observation, interview and documentation. The data analysis techniques are the model suggested by Miles and Huberman. Those are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. To test the validity of the data, credibility test with data triangulation is performed.
The findings indicate that: 1) The characteristics of students with autism in both of the Elementary Schools are grouped into four groups, namely: (a) the intelligence: low, (b) psychological: disturbance in emotion, perception and imagination, (c) the physical: similar to students without disabilities, and (d) behavior: relatively strange, different with normal students 2) Based on the characteristics of students with autism, the teacher’s methods implemented at both of the schools cover several points as mentioned in the Myles’ and Simpson’s theory and are supported by some other methods such as; (a) guiding the students, (b) grouping the students, (c) directing the students, (d) persuading the students, (e) giving reward, (f) embracing the student, (g) holding the students’ hand and (h) making the class conducive. 3) The teachers’ strategy implemented at the schools contributes positive influence for students with autism although it is not too significant. The influences are divided into three aspects, namely; (a) cognitive, (b) affective and (c) psychomotoric aspects.
All educators in educational institutions are expected to keep creating innovations in order to improve the quality of education. In addition, students with disabilities should receive equal attention as received by the normal students in terms of service and education. Moreover, parents should continue to explore their children’s abilities
Strategi Pengelolaan Siswa ABK Jenis Tunagrahita di Kelas Inklusi
The application of inclusive education in Indonesia is a way for the government to continue to provide educational services to the community openly and non-discriminatively, both for typical children and children with special needs, one of which is mentally disabled children. This study aims to understand about 1) Characteristics of Tunagrahita Students in the Junrejo 01 SDN inclusion class and 2) Tunagrahita Student Management Strategies in the Junrejo 01 SDN inclusion class in Batu. This research method is a qualitative approach, the type of case study located at SDN Junrejo 01 Kota Batu for ABK students with mental disabilities class II inclusion in the 2019 school year. This study indicates that the mentally disabled students have IQ characteristics below between 70 -80, have the same physical condition as an average child, have high imagination despite weak language skills, and have low self-confidence. From the motor aspect, the mentally retired student can perform psychomotor activities like other students. The mental retardation student management strategies are 1) Applying cooperative learning models, 2) Learning with the Peer Teaching method, 3) Giving the same task in study groups, 4) Assigning homework specifically for mentally disabled people, 5) Using educational games in learning, 6) Giving Rewards for Group and Personal Achievement 7) Environmental Therapy to Train the Solidarity of Retarded Students, 8) Teachers Establish Cooperative Relations with Parents of Tunagrahita students
Abstract: Since the Covid-19 pandemic, the learning activities in madrasah (Islamic school) have shifted from face-to-face learning to online learning, so the school principal still has to prioritize disciplinary rules for teachers to make the learning process run optimally even though the learning process is online. The purpose of this study is to find out the management of the madrasah principal of MIN 3 Central Aceh in improving teacher’s discipline in online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. This descriptive qualitative research employed interviews, observations and documentation as the data collection techniques. The results of the present research were: 1) unifying perceptions with teachers; 2) conducting guidance on the  learning activities for teachers using digital media; 3) facilitating Wi-Fi; 4) monitoring teacher’s performance every week; 5) evaluating teacher performance at the end of the month; 6) enforcing the health protocols; 7) setting fingerprint rules; 8) enforcing people to dress neatly and politely; and 9) giving prizes for exemplary teachers. However, the problem was that the teachers mostly could not carry out the learning process on time even though there was Wi-Fi available at the school. This was because the majority of the students did not have an Android cellphone so online learning was less effective. The solution is to instruct the teacher to allow the students who do not have an android phone to come to school and to give them questions to do at home
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
koamabayili/VECTRON-author-checklist: VECTRON author checklist
We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
