On this article, the author analyses some advertising texts created by Fernando Pessoa and
some of his thoughts about this activity. The main attention goes to the famous slogan “Primeiro
estranha-se. Depois entranha-se”, analysed through the principles of the functions
and proprieties of this element of advertisements. Finally, the author presents a recent slogan, constructed through the slogan of the Portuguese writer

Preliminary Results on Corrosion Rate in Carbonated LC3 Concrete
The new blended cement, LC3, can reduce by up to a 30% of the CO2 emissions per ton of cement, including calcined clay and limestone as main components. However, the low level of clinker content concern about carbonation-induced corrosion of the reinforcing steel. The aim of this project is to measure the corrosion rate and understand the corrosion mechanism of reinforcing steel in concrete made with LC3 cement. The samples were cast in molds specifically designs in order to minimize the carbonation time and the moisture equilibration time. There is a finer porosity for LC3 cement and the porosity decrease when the carbonation takes place due to the transformation of the portlandite into calcite. However, when the clinker substitution is higher, the total porosity increase, but there is a coarsening porosity for blended systems after carbonation because the C-S-H are converted into calcite with a smaller volume. In all LC3 samples, the corrosion rate is higher compared with OPC cement, but there are differences regarding the induced carbonation and natural carbonation especially for LC3 samples with a more tortuous pore system than OPC assuring the high resistance to the carbonation

ARTISTIC EDUCATION AS CRITICAL UNDERSTANDING OF VISUAL CULTURE IN FERNANDO HERNANDEZ
This paper presents a proposal by Fernando Hernandez (Spain, University of Barcelona), intending to think of visual arts education from the viewpoint of some non-usual narratives and metaphors related to art in a broad sense, as part of the cultural production of societies (the so-called “visual culture”). We believe that this innovative proposal involves characteristics of the theory of categorical education (from a didactic assessment of its theoretical approaches), and provides a new spot from which to think about artistic education. This attempt calls for reflection on what the content of this particular area means to the author, as well as on what the student’s formation is meant to be (strategies of understanding visual representations). So, this article intends to bring public a new proposal for artistic education, framed in the current theories within the realm of visual culture studies, as an option to think anew the role that teaching contents and intentions may bring in the school
A methodology for the design of parallel benchmarks
Performance evaluation is necessary to identify the strengths and weaknesses of computer systems and applications. The outcome of performance evaluation is used by computer designers to eliminate bottlenecks in hardware design and improve the balance between the components of computer systems. Since performance evaluation consists in studying computer and program interaction, it is equally useful to improve the efficiency of applications. This dissertation describes a new methodology for the design of parallel benchmarks. The main objective of the proposed methodology is to bridge the distance between performance evaluation and program design. Three benchmarking techniques are presented in this dissertation and form the basis of the proposed benchmarking methodology; (i) Evaluating Program and Data Transformations, (ii) High-Level Specification of Benchmarks and (iii) White-Box Benchmarking. The first technique evaluates the effect of program change and data transformation on performance. This enables us to design more efficient programs and achieve code re-engineering successfully. The second technique, high-level specification of benchmarks, provides us with a framework to define new benchmarks that evaluate aspects of performance not covered by standard benchmark suites. Finally, white-box benchmarking can be used to obtain performance results that are related to the structure of the benchmark code.</p

Fragments of the self: self-awareness, identity, and heteronymy in the works of Fernando Pessoa
This thesis explores the theme of self-awareness in the works of Fernando Pessoa, with a particular focus on the relashionship between identity and heteronymy. Through the creation of his heteronymys, Pessoa addresses fundamental questions related to the fragmentation of the self and the complexity of human identity. The analysis centers on the multifaceted nature of the author, investigating how each heteronym represents a distinct aspect of his inner world and an attempt to understand and transcend the limits of individuality
