The use of humor in preaching is something that is practiced by many da'i either through the pulpit directly or through internet media such as YouTube. Humor can be an allure for preachers because it can bring a fun atmosphere to their da'wah activities. Therefore a da'i needs to adjust the dose of humor in each of his da'wah activities. In this article, the author examines the study of humor in da'wah from one of the leading preachers, especially on the island of Java, namely KH. Anwar Zahid. KH. Anwar Zahid is famous for every joke in his da'wah activities which are mostly themed on everyday events experienced by the community, not infrequently he also brings sarcasm humor and even witty humor using academic sentences depending on who the mad'u attend

Regionalism and regional security in South Asia: the role of SAARC

    No full text
Zahid Shahab Ahmed evaluates the progress of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). This study goes beyond economic integration to present a detailed appraisal of cooperation under the overarching themes of economic cooperation, environmental security, human welfare, and cooperation in security matters. According to the author, SAARC is making progress in addressing the myriad of issues on its agenda. The transition from agreements to actions and frequent interactions among the member states has boosted confidence. The progress of SAARC is more evident in the less controversial areas of human security, such as poverty alleviation, health and safety, human resources development, and higher education. Notwithstanding enthusiastic commitments reflected in agreements and action plans, there is a gulf between rhetoric and implementation most notably in sensitive areas relating to traditional security. In the light of the findings of this study, the author proposes that greater cooperation in common human security areas has a potential to pave the way for a cooperation on issues of a 'contentious' nature, particularly terrorism

Break Even Point Analysis as a Tool for Short-TermProfit Planning in PT Awfa Smart Media Palembang Zahid Ahmad, 2016 (xiv + 68 Pages) E - Mail : [email protected] The final report is entitled "Break Even Point Analysis as a Tool for Short-Term Profit Planning in PT Awfa Smart Media Palembang." PTAwfa Smart Media Palembang is a company engaged in the printing and advertising, sale of stationery and photocopying services. To get corporate data, the author uses the method of data collection with interviews, observation, questionnaires and literature research. Based on data and information obtained, it is known that the company has not made the classification of costs into fixed costs and variable costs, so the company can not yet calculate the break even point and margin of safety that can be used as a planning tool company. Based on literature review (literature) the authors analyze the classification of costs, break even point calculations, planning, profit and margin of safety. From the results of the analysis, the authors can conclude that in the planning of profit by using the break even point analysis, requires a fixed cost data and cost variables. Further analysis of the break even point can be used to predict costs that will occur to expect a certain profit. The author also gives advice to the management company to consider using the break even point analysis as a planning tool and the company should make a calculation of the level of security (margin of safety), so the company can determine how safe the volume of sales that the company did not suffer losses

Gürbüz, Mustafa Zahid (Dogus Author) -- Conference full title: 4th International Conference on Computer Science and Engineering, UBMK 2019; Samsun; Turkey; 11 September 2019 through 15 September 2019.IT service management and incident management is a hot topic in every company which serves IT services and they require human effort to manage. In ITIL framework for IT service management, it's always useful to link the incidents with configuration items, in other words the assets or components necessary to deliver IT services and this task is managed manually by IT support technicians in many IT service management tools. The aim of the study is to remove this manual linking step by applying text classification methods and instead to provide an automatic assignment of CI's to incidents. Four of the text classification methods, Naïve Bayes Multinomial, k-Nearest Neighbor, Support Vector Machine and J48 decision tree classifiers, are used on three different sets of incidents extracted from the same database by using different filters. The impact of some pre-processing steps is compared on different sizes of datasets

Single quantum dot tracking for quantitative molecular imaging

The application of semiconductor nanocrystals known as quantum dots (QDs) to biology in the past few decades has advanced the field of single-molecule biology by allowing for long time-scale tracking of individual biomolecules. However, QD single-molecule imaging studies have almost been exclusively limited to the extracellular space, due to limitations in intracellular delivery techniques and a limited understanding of how nanoparticles behave in the intracellular space. In the first half of this thesis, a new analysis methodology is developed to quantitatively assess the intracellular delivery of QDs. We present a method for using single-molecule imaging and subsequent single-particle tracking (SPT) of QDs delivered to the cytosol of living cells to assess delivery efficiency and uptake mechanisms. In this method, single quantum dot mobility information is used in conjunction with single-molecule brightness measurements to develop novel single-cell metrics of delivery efficiency. These metrics are used to investigate the impact of different nanoparticle surface properties on intracellular delivery and fate. We investigate the delivery of a series of QDs designed with diverse surface properties. This comparison revealed new insights into particle uptake and endosomal escape, as well as the discovery that zwitterionic surfaces are uniquely suited for intracellular mobility. Additionally, this new analysis methodology was validated by established experimental approaches and analysis of simulated single-particle trajectories. The second half of this thesis applies the aforementioned tools towards two applications. The first application is to quantitatively evaluate QD labeling of intracellular proteins in live cells. This was achieved by delivering QDs conjugated to biorthogonal functional groups to label a target protein and developing a new colocalization-based metric to quantify the degree of protein target labeling. We present evidence of protein target labeling by using this single-trajectory level colocalization metric in combination with nanoparticle mobility measurements. The second application is toward accurate measurement of hydrodynamic size of colloids with dimensions smaller than 100 nanometers (nm). We develop a new method using widefield fluorescence microscopy and SPT to measure nanoparticle size and demonstrate accurate single-molecule size measurements of a homogeneous nanoparticle population with hydrodynamic diameter of approximately 20 nm.Submission published under a 24 month embargo labeled 'U of I Access', the embargo will last until 2020-12-01The student, Mohammad Zahid, accepted the attached license on 2018-12-05 at 11:21.The student, Mohammad Zahid, submitted this Dissertation for approval on 2018-12-05 at 11:27.This Dissertation was approved for publication on 2018-12-05 at 16:26.DSpace SAF Submission Ingestion Package generated from Vireo submission #13219 on 2019-02-07 at 14:22:40Made available in DSpace on 2019-02-07T20:44:23Z (GMT). Muhâmmed'in hayatı, eserin tertip yöntemi belirlenmiş. Texts written to fully and accurately understand the Quran and other religious works are considered the first examples of the commentary tradition. Throughout history, religious and scientific commentaries have been written on the one hand, and literary commentaries on the other. The influence of Persian literature and its representatives in our literature, especially in literary commentaries, is remarkable. During the six-century Ottoman Empire Period, Turkish literature was influenced by many Iranian poets. Hâfiz-i Şîrâzî comes first among these poets who were influenced by him. Due to this intense interest, commentaries were made on the Hâfiz's Diwan by many commentators such as Sürûrî, Şem'î, Sûdî and Konevî. This work, which has been studied about, is a work in which the works of Sürûrî and Şem'î called 'Şerh-i Diwan-i Hafiz' are brought together. Our study consists of transcribing and examining the pages (176a-201a) of this work, which is registered in Suleymaniye Library Nuruosmaniye number 3962 and written by Zahid b. Muhammad under the name 'Kitâb-i Şem'i ve Sururi 'ala Diwan-i Hafiz'. After mentioning annotation and annotation procedures in the introduction, the study is divided into three main sections. In the first chapter, information about Hafiz's life and divan is given. Afterwards, the Turkish, Persian and Arabic commentaries of the divan and the commentaries written in the Anatolian field are introduced. In the second part, the life of Zahid b. Muhammad and the method of organization of the work are determined. Verses, hadiths, Arabic phrases in the studied section; Turkish, Persian and Arabic poems are given with their translations. The commentaries of Sürûrî and Şem'î were compared with the edited text. In the third part, the text in the folio range (176a-201a) is given in transcription. We do not have much information about Zahid b. Muhammad, the person who compiled the commentary. Information about the author is in the phrases in the prayer and sebeb-i arrangement section of the work. Among these phrases are the date of compilation of the work, 'Hijri-1005 Şaban' and the name of the author. As a result, the main purpose is to examine the part of the text written by Zahid b. Muhammad between the specified intervals and to determine the composition methods. Key Words: Zahid b. Muhammad, Sururi, Şem'i, Hafiz, Commentary, Diwan literature

(Gendered) Transcultural Capital and Memory in Zahid Hussain’s The Curry Mile (2006)

    No full text
Transcultural memory intertwines with transnationality, integrating decolonial paradigms into the making of a plurality of cultures. Drawing from Astrid Erll’s conceptualization of “travelling memory,” the “migrant memories” are always in kinesis and cannot be pinned down to a singular geographic location or culture. Instead, they facilitate active engagement with the host nation. Zahid Hussain, a British Pakistani author, captures this dynamic in his novel, The Curry Mile (2006), which portrays the aspirations of second-generation migrant Sorayah Butt, a woman in her 20s battling several personal and cultural issues when she decides to step in for her father, who is losing his hard-earned business. Women are often at the receiving end of social mobility, thereby engendering their cultural capital (Bourdieu) mercurially. Additionally, the status of “migrants” makes them inimical to the host culture. The novel illustrates the challenges faced by a woman stymied by a regnant patriarchal household, yet she contributes to the cultural capital and economy of the host nation, which recognizes her as a distinct identity. The main emphasis of the article is on the grim social reality in Western countries, which battle with xenophobia while remaining receptive to the transcultural capital brought by the migrant population

Surface functionalized N-C-TiO2/C nanocomposites derived from metal-organic framework in water vapour for enhanced photocatalytic H2 generation

    No full text
Surface-functionalized nitrogen/carbon co-doped polymorphic TiO2 phase junction nanoparticles uniformly distributed in porous carbon matrix were synthesized by a simple one-step pyrolysis of titanium based metal–organic framework (MOF), NH2-MIL-125(Ti) at 700 °C under water vapour atmosphere. Introducing water vapour during the pyrolysis of NH2-MIL-125(Ti) not only functionalizes the derived porous carbon matrix with carboxyl groups but also forms additional oxygen-rich N like interstitial/intraband states lying above the valence band of TiO2 along with the self-doped carbon, which further narrows the energy band gaps of polymorphic TiO2 nanoparticles that enhance photocatalytic charge transfer efficiency. Without co-catalyst, sample N-C-TiO2/CArW demonstrates H2 evolution activity of 426 µmol gcat-1 h−1, which remarkably outperforms commercial TiO2 (P-25) and N-C-TiO2/CAr with a 5-fold and 3-fold H2 generation, respectively. This study clearly shows that water vapour atmosphere during the pyrolysis increases the hydrophilicity of the Ti-MOF derived composites by functionalizing porous carbon matrix with carboxylic groups, as well as enhancing the electrical conductivity and charge transfer efficiency due to the formation of additional localized oxygen-rich N like interstitial/intraband states. This work also demonstrates that by optimizing the anatase–rutile phase composition of the TiO2 polymorphs, tuning the energy band gaps by N/C co-doping and functionalizing the porous carbon matrix in the N-C-TiO2/C nanocomposites, the photocatalytic H2 generation activity can be further enhanced
