Speech anxiety in university students : a study investigating how university students with speech anxiety experience that their anxiety effects their studys and health

Syftet med uppsatsen var att undersöka hur högskolestudenter med talängslan upplever sin talängslan och uppfattar att denna påverkar deras studier och hälsa. En litteraturgenomgång visade att talängslan dels är en självupplevd problematik men även ett fysiskt tillstånd. Så mycket som en fjärdedel av befolkningen lider av detta. Studenter som tacklas med ängslan är en utsatt grupp, dels på grund av samhällets och skolans krav på vad individen bör klara av, dels på individens hälsa och rätt till inflytande och delaktighet i samhället. Det finns begränsad forskning inom området talängslan, det är därför nödvändig att belysa problemet för att få ett ökat intresse. Vald metod var intervjuer med fyra kvinnliga högskolestudenter i åldrarna 20 till 23 år, där tematisk analys användes för bearbetning av data. Resultatet visade att studenterna upplevde att det är både fysiskt och psykiskt påfrestande att tala inför grupp. Studierna påverkades i vissa fall, främst för att ängslan tog fokus från lärandet. De upplevde att deras hälsa påverkades av deras ängslan, dock olika mycket samt på olika sätt. Samtliga deltagare hade en positiv framtidstro gällande hanteringen av talängslan. Slutsatsen av studien är att studenternas hälsa och studier påverkas av deras talängslan med olika fysiska och psykiska reaktioner. För dem som är drabbade är detta ett problem som behöver tas itu med och bli mer uppmärksammat. Det finns mycket begränsad forskning inom området för hur en talängslig student påverkas av sin ängslan, därför är det nödvändigt att uppmärksamma detta. Inte minst för att belysa och acceptera talängslan inom den akademiska världen, samt som ett folkhälsoproblem med lämpliga hälsofrämjande åtgärder. Henriksson, Malin (2012). The aim of the study was to examine how university students with speech anxiety experience their anxiety and perceived that it affects their studies and health. Background research shows that as much as one quarter of the population suffers from speech anxiety. Students affected by this are in a vulnerable group, partly because of the academic requirements to speak in public and their ability to participate within and influence society. The method used was interviewing four female collage students aged between 20 – 23 years old and analyzing the interviews using thematic analysis. The results showed that it was both physically and mentally demanding to speak in front of a group. The students perceive that their health and ability to learn is affected by their speech anxiety, albeit to different degrees. All participants were positive regarding handling their speech anxiety in the future. The conclusion is that the student’s health and studies are affected by their speech anxiety with physical and mental reactions. There is little research in the field of how a student with speech anxiety gets affected by this. In order to proceed, the problem for those affected needs to be addressed and awareness to be increased among academic communities as well as public health with appropriate health promotion

Kan funktionshindrade nå tågets plattform på ett säkert sätt, ungdomar i förorten utan krångel ta sig till skola och fritidssysselsättningar, äldre känna sig säkra vid busshållplatsen, nyinflyttade navigera i en främmande trafikmiljö? Att alla medborgare skall ha tillgång till transporter anpassade efter behov är en grundläggande demokratisk tanke – men de som planerar och tar beslut om kollektivtrafiken är ofta okunniga om resenärernas vardagliga villkor, upplevelser och önskemål. Den här antologin ger ökad kunskap om hur människor från olika sociala grupper och sammanhang reser med kollektiva transportmedel i Sverige. Vi undersöker resmönster, problem resenärerna stöter på när de reser och förväntningar de har på sitt resande. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Trots en ökad medvetenhet om hur djupt orättvisa vardagslivets resor kan vara tycks just rättvisa transporter vara särskilt svåra att uppnå – i synnerhet för vissa grupper. Hur drabbas unga i Norrlands inland när bränslepriserna ökar? Vilka möjligheter har egentligen barn att påverka sitt vardagsresande? Hur kan ett bostadsområdes närhet spela roll för jämställdheten? Varför kommer inte samtidens och framtidens transportlösningar alla till gagn? För att anta utmaningen att styra mot rättvist resande krävs både kunskap och visioner, vilket kan vara utmanande att omsätta i planering och praktik. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. No full textWe have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
