Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh interval defoliasi terhadap produktivitas dan kualitas nutrisi Indigofera zollingeriana yang ditanam di BPTU HPT Padang Mengatas Payakumbuh Sumatera Barat. Defoliasi dilakukan pada tiga interval waktu yaitu 50 hari, 65 hari, dan 80 hari setelah pemotongan sebelumnya. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah eksperimen dengan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) tiga perlakuan interval defoliasi yaitu 50 hari, 65 hari dan 80 hari, masing-masing dengan lima ulangan. Variabel yang diamati adalah produksi bahan segar daun dan ranting, produksi bahan kering, jumlah ranting, rasio daun dengan ranting, panjang ranting, kandungan nutrient (protein kasar, lemak kasar, serat kasar), fraksi serat ( kandungan NDF, ADF, Selulosa, Hemiselulosa, Lignin, Silika), serta kecernaan bahan kering (KcBK) dan kecernaan bahan organik (KcBO). Data yang diperoleh dianalisa menggunakan Analisis of Variance (ANOVA) dan perbedaan antar perlakuan menggunakan uji lanjut Duncan Multiple Test (DMRT). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa interval defoliasi memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan vegetatif, hasil biomassa segar dan kering, serta komposisi kimia hijauan. Interval defoliasi 50 hari memberikan hasil optimal dalam hal rasio daun terhadap ranting yaitu 7,3, kadar protein kasar yaitu 27,17 %, yang berbeda nyata dengan interval 65 hari yang menghasilkan rasio daun dengan ranting sebesar 4,61 dan protein kasar 25,54 %. Akan tetapi pada variabel produksi bahan segar, panjang ranting dan jumlah ranting, serat kasar, lemak kasar, kecernaan bahan kering dan kecernaan bahan organik interval defoliasi 50 hari tidak berbeda nyata dengan interval defoliasi 65 hari. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa interval 80 hari menghasilkan bobot biomassa dan bahan organik tertinggi yang juga tidak berbeda nyata dengan interval defoliasi 65 hari. Interval defoliasi 80 hari menghasilkan kualitas pakan yang lebih rendah, khususnya kadar serat kasar yang meningkat dan protein kasar yang menurun. Interval 65 hari memberikan hasil produksi bahan kering tertinggi per tahun. Untuk fraksi serat, interval defoliasi 80 hari juga menghasilkan NDF,ADF,lignin dan selulosa tertinggi.Dengan demikian, interval defoliasi yang direkomendasikan untuk budidaya Indigofera zollingeriana di lokasi penelitian ini adalah 65 hari, karena mampu memberikan keseimbangan antara kuantitas dan kualitas hijauan sebagai pakan ternak ruminansia.

ABSTRACT
This study aimed to determine the effect of defoliation intervals on the productivity and nutritional quality of Indigofera zollingeriana. The research was conducted at BPTU HPT Padang Mengatas, Payakumbuh, West Sumatra. Defoliation was carried out at three intervals: 50, 65, and 80 days after the previous cutting. The study used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three treatments (50, 65, and 80 days) and five replications. Variables observed included fresh and dry matter yields, number of branches, branch length, leaf-to-branch ratio, and nutrient composition (crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber, NDF, ADF, cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, silica), as well as dry matter and organic matter digestibility (KcBK and KcBO). Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and treatment means were compared using Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed that defoliation interval significantly affected vegetative growth, biomass production, and forage quality. A 50-day interval produced the highest leaf-to-branch ratio (7.3) and crude protein content (27.17%), which were significantly higher than those at 65 days (4.61 and 25.54%, respectively). However, fresh biomass yield, branch length, number of branches, crude fiber, crude fat, and digestibility did not differ significantly between the 50- and 65-day intervals. The 80-day interval produced the highest fresh biomass and organic matter, comparable to the 65-day interval, but with lower quality due to higher fiber and lower protein contents. The 65-day interval provided the highest annual dry matter yield. Fiber fractions (NDF, ADF, cellulose, lignin) were greatest at 80 days. In conclusion, a 65-day defoliation interval is recommended for Indigofera zollingeriana cultivation in this location, as it provides an optimal balance between quantity and quality of forage for ruminant livestock.

Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
