Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. Full text linkYli 65-vuotiaiden määrän ennustetaan kasvavan Suomessa entisestään tulevina vuo-sina. Toimintakyvyltään heikentynyt iäkäs tarvitsee riittävästi tukea ja apua kotona asumiseen. Ikääntyneiden huolenpito toteutetaan nykyisin pääosin asiakkaan kotona omaisten, tukipalveluiden ja kotihoidon turvin.
Ikäteknologian hyödyntäminen lisää ikääntyneen kotona asumisen turvallisuutta ja mahdollistaa asumisen kotona pidempään. Yksilöllisesti suunniteltu ikäteknologia tukee ikääntyneen hoitoa, sosiaalisia kontakteja ja lisää turvallisuuden tunnetta.
Opinnäytetyömme tavoitteena oli luoda lyhyt ja selkeä kuvapuhelimen käyttöopas etähoiva- ja teknologiayksikkö Severin työntekijöille. Oppaan tarkoituksena on tukea kuvapuhelinta käyttävien hoitajien työtä ja auttaa ongelmien ratkaisemisessa. Opin-näytetyö on laadultaan toiminnallinen.

B2B-asiakkaan tyytyväisyys messutapahtumassa
Full text linkTämän opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli tutkia, mistä elementeistä koostuu onnistunut business to business-tapahtuma näytteilleasettajien näkökulmasta. Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli myös selvittää näytteilleasettajien tyytyväisyyttä Olut Expo -tapahtumaan ja pyrkiä parantamaan tapahtumaa tutkimustulosten pohjalta. Näytteilleasettajien tyytyväisyyttä mitattiin kahtena peräkkäisenä vuotena kyselytutkimusten avulla. Toimeksiantajana tutkimuksessa toimi tapahtumaa järjestävä yritys Next Life Solutions.
Opinnäytetyön teoriaosuudessa perehdytään onnistuneen messutapahtuman elementteihin, B2B-asiakkuuden erikoispiirteisiin ja markkinointiin sekä messutapahtumaan markkinointivälineenä. Tutkimuksellinen osuus toteutettiin kahtena kvantitatiivisena eli määrällisenä tutkimuksena. Tutkimusten aineisto kerättiin verkossa Webropol-palvelun avulla ensimmäisen ja toisen Olut Expo -tapahtuman jälkeen vuosina 2013 sekä 2014. Kutsut kyselyyn lähetettiin yritysten messutoiminnoista vastaaville näytteilleasettajille. Kahden vuoden tutkimustulosten avulla selvitimme, oliko näytteilleasettajien kokema tyytyväisyys tapahtumaan parantunut.
Ensimmäisen vuoden, eli vuoden 2013, kyselyn tulokset osoittivat, että tapahtumalla on parantamisen varaa usealla osa-alueella. Vuoden 2013 kyselyn tuloksien ja teoriaan nojaten teimme tapahtuman järjestäjälle parannusehdotuksia Olut Expo 2014 -tapahtumaa varten. Vuoden 2014 Olut Expon jälkeen suoritetussa kyselyssä näytteilleasettajien kokema tyytyväisyys oli kasvanut jonkin verran edellisvuodesta, vaikka joitain puutteita tapahtumalla edelleen oli.
Tutkimuksen tulokset osoittivat, että näytteilleasettajien mielestä onnistunut B2B
-tapahtuma koostuu onnistuneesta tapahtuman organisoinnista, tehokkaasta markkinoinnista, hyvin informoidusta ja kyltein opastetusta selkeästä kokonaisuudesta sekä tarkkaan harkituista tapahtumapäivistä. Olut Expo on tuloksien mukaan parantunut vuoden 2013 ja vuoden 2014 välillä, vaikka tapahtumalla on vielä joitain puutteita muun muassa yleisissä järjestelyissä, messujen ohjelmistossa, viestinnässä ja tapahtuman pituudessa.The objective of this thesis is to investigate what elements are needed to carry out
a successful business to business event, in other words a B2B event, from the
exhibitors’ point of view. The aim of this thesis is also to investigate exhibitors’
satisfaction with the Olut Expo event, and to improve the event based on the study. The satisfaction of the exhibitors was measured in two consecutive years with two surveys.
The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the elements of a successful exhibition, special features of B2B customers, and marketing, together with exhibitions as a marketing tool. The two research studies were performed as quantitative research. Research data were collected online with Webropol-service in the first and second event years, 2013 and 2014. The invitations to the inquiry were sent to the persons responsible for their company’s exhibition. Two years of research helped us to determine whether the exhibitors’ satisfaction with the event has improved.
The results of the first year's inquiry in 2013 revealed that the event has room for improvement in many sections. Based on the inquiry of 2013, we made suggestions for improvement of the Olut Expo 2014 event. In the inquiry performed after the event of 2014, the satisfaction of the exhibitors increased slightly, even though the event still had some deficiencies.
The results of the inquiries showed us that from by the exhibitors’ point of view, a successful B2B event consists of successful organization of the event, efficient marketing, good communication and clear signs and guidance and carefully planned event dates. According to the results of the studies, Olut Expo has improved between the years 2013 and 2014, even though the event still has some deficiencies in general arrangements, the program of the event and the length of the event
Asiakasohjaajien käsityksiä etäteknologian avulla tehtävästä ikääntyneiden kotiarvioinnista
Full text linkPäijät-Hämeen hyvinvointialueen ikääntyneiden asiakasohjauksessa on käytössä kotiarviointi eli asiakkaan kotona etäteknologian avulla tehtävä toimintakyvyn arviointi. Kotiarviointia käytetään harkinnanvaraisesti asiakkaan palvelutarpeen arvioinnissa pääasiassa asiakkaan ympärivuorokautisen palveluasumisen hakuprosessissa. Kotiarvioinnissa käytettävät etäseurantalaitteet on otettu käyttöön alun perin vuonna 2021, mutta niitä on päivitetty ja täydennetty vuonna 2025.
Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli kuvata asiakasohjaajien käsityksiä etäteknologian avulla tehtävästä kotiarvioinnista ja tiedon avulla tuottaa kehittämisehdotuksia kotiarviointiin. Tutkimus tehtiin soveltavana laadullisena tutkimuksena. Tutkimusaineisto kerättiin teemahaastattelun (n=8) sekä kyselytutkimuksen (n=32) avulla. Kerätty aineisto analysoitiin aineisto- ja teorialähtöisellä sisällönanalyysillä. Tutkittavat teemat käsittivät kotiarvioinnissa tarvittavan osaamisen, kotiarvioinnilla saadun tiedon käytön päätöksenteossa, sekä kotiarvioinnin arvioidut hyödyt ja koetut haasteet.
Tutkimustulosten mukaan asiakasohjaajat kokivat tarvitsevansa moniulotteista ammatillista osaamista voidakseen hyödyntää kotiarvioinnilla saatua tietoa päätöksenteossa. Kotiarvioinnin koetaan olevan päätöksenteon luotettavuutta lisäävä arviointimenetelmä, jolla voidaan vahvistaa asiakaslähtöisyyttä ja tukea hyvinvointialueen toimintaa. Kotiarvioinnin käytössä ilmenee kuitenkin osaamiseen, prosessiin, teknologiaan sekä suhtautumiseen liittyviä haasteita.
Tulosten perusteella asiakasohjaajat kokevat kotiarvioinnilla voitavan saavuttaa merkittäviä hyötyjä. Se edellyttää, että etäseurantalaitteilla kerättävä tieto on merkityksellistä ja menetelmässä tarvittavaa osaamista tuetaan organisaatiossa

Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
