Infiltration campaign in the Mercier sub-catchment (Yzeron catchment, periphery of Lyon France)
No full text<p>This study was part of the AVuPUR project (Assessing the Vulnerability of PeriUrban catchments, 2008-2011), dedicated to the observation and understanding of the impact of urbanization on the hydrological cycle in periurban catchments. We provide the results of a field campaign conducted in the Mercier catchment, a sub-catchment of the Yzeron catchment located in the Monts du Lyonnais, in the western part of Lyon city, France. The campaign was dedicated to the characterization of top soil hydraulic properties. Some data are also available at -15 and -30 cm depth.<br>
The data set includes 66 sampled points with information of particle size data, dry bulk density and porosity, hydraulic conductivity at saturation and close to saturation for 46 measurement points.<br>
We also provide estimates of the parameters of the retention and hydraulic conductivity curves for the various sample points.</p>
<p>Sample points were selected in the Mercier catchment (6.7 km2) by combining information about geology, land use and pedology. No full textInternational audienceIn this paper, a direct experimental comparison is made between scanning and tomo-PIV, on an unsteady wake flow behind a half-cylinder. Several seeding densities are used in order to demonstrate the capacities and limitations of both techniques. For the scanning technique, the effect of particles elongation is investigated and the influence of the seeding density on the volume reconstruction for tomo-PIV is examinated. The results of the two techniques are compared in terms of volume and velocity fields

L’anglais et les magistrats français, résultats d’une enquête de terrain
No full textLes magistrats français constituent une communauté de discours dont la particularité est de ne pas appartenir à une communauté internationale qui partagerait un discours spécialisé commun. Le point de départ de l’étude est une interrogation sur le statut et l’importance que revêt la connaissance de l’anglais pour les magistrats français. Ceux-ci sont en effet tenus de dire le droit dans un cadre strictement national. Cependant cette profession, vouée aux évolutions politiques, sociales et économiques dans le cadre notamment de l’ouverture à l’Europe et à l’international, se voit contrainte de devoir intégrer l’importance grandissante de l’anglais dans les échanges professionnels et para-professionnels. L’auteur présente les résultats d’une analyse des situations et des contextes dans lesquels les magistrats sont amenés à utiliser l’anglais afin d’évaluer leurs besoins langagiers. Les résultats de cette étude, menée auprès de 500 magistrats en juillet 2006, montrent que l’anglais est utilisé à trois niveaux : national, européen et international. Les besoins langagiers peuvent être caractérisés selon des critères de fréquence d’utilisation, de contexte et de compétences.The specificity of the discourse community constituted by the French judges and prosecutors is seemingly not to belong to an international community sharing a common specialised discourse. The starting point of the study was to reflect on the status and relevance of English to French judges and prosecutors. The majority is indeed bound to work on a strictly national level. Yet this profession is now facing political, social and economic changes brought about by globalisation and the building up of the European Union. French judges and prosecutors must therefore take the increasing importance of English in professional and para-professional exchanges into account. The author presents the results of an analysis of the situations and contexts in which they use English so as to assess their language needs. A needs analysis questionnaire was administered to 500 judges and prosecutors in July 2006. Language needs were identified, ranging from socio-professional to professional uses. The results suggest that English is used on three levels: national, European and international
