Vulnerabilidade social e políticas públicas de esporte e lazer no oeste potiguar
Get PDFRecognizing the role of the State as provider of public social actions and seeing Sport and Leisure as a possible factor for reducing Social Vulnerability, the present research has the purpose of dealing with the theme of Social Vulnerability and its connection with Public Policies of Sports and Leisure. Through the measurement of the Social Vulnerability Index - SVI, used by the Institute of Applied Economic Research - IPEA, as well as the data obtained through the questionnaires applied by the Center for the Development of Recreational Sports and Leisure – CEDES Network to municipal managers of Sports and Leisure we sought to discuss how these two variables are inserted in the studied cities. The research universe is composed of twelve cities of the West Potiguar Meso-region. A documentary research was carried out in the databases of the IPEA and the CEDES Network, and then a content analysis was performed, as well as a ranking of the cities regarding the information obtained for each variable. In the construction of the cities ranking in the public policies of Sport and Leisure, an adaptation of the utility model of multi-attributes was used. Thus, the results indicate, in general, a disproportionality between the Social Vulnerability Index and the public policies of Sport and Leisure of the cities, being divided into three categories: those that obtained low degrees of vulnerability; those that presented better situation in descriptive public policies of Sport and Leisure, and those that maintained the same pattern of performance in both aspects. These results were discussed and analyzed in the context of the debate about social vulnerability and made proposals to collaborate with these public policy actions. Thus, this discussion brings a great contribution to the cities studied, regarding the construction and execution of public policies in Sport and Leisure, as well as for a greater deepening in the debates about ways of reducing Social Vulnerability in a general wayReconhecendo o papel do Estado como provedor das ações públicas sociais e enxergando o Esporte e Lazer como possível fator de redução da vulnerabilidade social, a presente pesquisa teve como propósito tratar sobre o tema da vulnerabilidade social e sua relação com as políticas públicas de Esporte e Lazer. Por meio da mensuração do Índice de vulnerabilidade social – IVS, utilizado pelo atlas do Instituto de Pesquisa Econômica Aplicada – IPEA, assim como dos dados obtidos por meio dos questionários aplicados pelo Centro de Desenvolvimento do Esporte Recreativo e do Lazer – Rede CEDES aos gestores municipais do Esporte e Lazer, buscou-se debater como essas duas variáveis estão inseridas nos municípios estudados. O universo da pesquisa é composto por doze municípios da Mesorregião do Oeste Potiguar. Foi realizada uma pesquisa documental nos bancos de dados do IPEA e da Rede CEDES e em seguida, foi feita uma análise de conteúdo, bem como um ranqueamento dos municípios quanto às informações obtidas para cada variável. Na construção do ranking dos municípios quanto às políticas públicas de Esporte e Lazer foi utilizada uma adaptação do modelo de utilidade de multiatributos. Dessa forma, os resultados indicam, no geral, uma desproporcionalidade entre o Índice de Vulnerabilidade Social e as políticas públicas de Esporte e Lazer dos municípios, sendo divididos em três categorias: aqueles que obtiveram baixos graus de vulnerabilidade; aqueles que apresentaram melhor situação em políticas públicas descritivas de Esporte e Lazer e os que mantiveram o mesmo padrão de desempenho nos dois aspectos. Esses resultados foram discutidos e analisados frente ao debate acerca da vulnerabilidade social e feitas proposições no intuito de colaborar com essas ações de políticas públicas. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
