Improving norwegian user's experience of moxibustion in chinese medicine
This is a series of design including four different products, each of which has embodied author’s emotional experience in Norway – snow, forest, star, peace and kind atmosphere. Objectum
Denne avhandlingen omhandler formutforskning og produktutvikling
gjennom å kontinuerlig lage tredimensjonale objekter i bjørk.
bevegelser. Det organiske formspråket representerer en sensitivitet for
treverket (bjørk) og hendenes estetiske funksjon både i prosessen og i
bruken av formene
PROMOTING LONGEVITY IN FOOTWEAR DESIGN through aesthetic approaches.
An exploration of sustainability through longevity from an aesthetic perspective in the context of designers in the footwear design industry. This paper explores an approach to promoting longevity in footwear through the principle of developing an attachment to the object. An approach through psychological theory and existing philosophy to promote longevity, such as the concepts of Patina and Wabi-sabi, has been explored to build a framework on how to create attachments through aesthetic and object attachments through psychological factors in product design defined as pareidolia. This project submission is based on building attachments through this effect as a foundation and concept for the final product. The project employs a variety of methods and mediums, including sketch design, clay exploration, and 3D modeling software. To enhance and promote the effects of pareidolia, inspiration from other elements of automotive design has been used to explore a form of communicating a final product to audiences
Impressions of Nature
This is a practice-based project that uses qualitative, artistic research methods. The project’s foundational method of re-mediation is used to explore the dynamic relationship between form and materiality and how this interaction can produce objects of aesthetic value. Located at the center of the project is a collection of artifacts. This collection, made from high-fired and unglazed porcelain, is the product of the main method, re-mediation. This collection is mentioned in the research question: How can re-mediated surface samples collected from nature inform the design of products? This line of research encourages a practical and tangible process with a clear goal related to product development. As a result, three uniquely different products were developed during this project. The purpose of the product development has firstly been to afford insight into different aesthetic aspects that can be achieved through an exploratory design process. Secondly, different processes such as 3D printing in clay combined with traditional handcrafting methods, have been used to investigate how to design both a personal and a shared aesthetic experience for the user.publishedVersio
Alternative accessibility in Museum
This project looks at how a museum can look cultural sustainability and inclusive design. In particular, it looks at some ways in which accessibility can be improved without invasive changes to protected buildings.
Fetsund Lenser (Fetsund Booms) is a museum and cultural heritage site. In the latter half of 2024 they will be performing a major project to increase the accessibility of their site.
The museum claims the site is home to northern Europe’s largest surviving timber boom structure. As a converted industrial site with over a century of history, almost all the buildings and structures which make up the museum are protected. This makes improving site accessibility a challenge.
The product which resulted from this process is a card game, which aims to give players foundational knowledge of what a log boom is.
Museum design and cultural sustainability is a field in constant development. Many museums today want to make their exhibitions available to more people.
By applying my knowledge of product design, system design, and inclusive design, I aim to influence museum design theory. I would also like to apply some game theory or play into the project as I believe play is important regardless of the user's age.
I also aim to provide a different view on what inclusive design and accessibility could entail by going beyond the typical focus of physical accessibility into factors like comprehension and cultural implications.
The primary methods for this project were desk research, observation, and design probes.
Using system design tools such as these, the project would use systems theory for gathering insights related to the site itself.
While the initial description for this project approached this with the intent of creating a museum exhibit from the ground up, I secured a collaboration with the organization Museene i Akershus (MiA, Akershus Museums) and their site Fetsund Booms

continuously creating three-dimensional objects in birch. The project was
carried out with autoethnographic and practice-led research as a method.
By creating “60 objects / 60 days”, deeper knowledge and experience of
form and material has been developed. Analysis of the 60 objects together,
with the experiences of the exploratory process, is used in the development
of the product series - Objectum, which consists of the tables “Pedestal”
and the trays “Remisuss”.
With the goal of communicating the value of combining the arts, crafts
and design fields, “Pedestal” is developed by geometric form language,
machine-made, and as a symbol of the value of the craft, texture is cut by
hand to emphasize the properties of the material, and to create a tactile
experience. The ambition of the tables is that they can be regarded as
representations of how the machine and hand can co-exist to create
unique products in a world of over-consumption and mass production.
“Remissus” is inspired by the water droplet and it’s unpredictability in the
contour. The different shapes leave traces from the hand’s asymmetrical
shape and movements. The organic idiom represents a sensitivity to the
wood (birch) and the aesthetic function of the hands, both in the process
and in formpublishedVersio
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Tilstede: Et prosjekt om relasjoner til en kopp
Through this master's thesis, I have gone from working with ideas and sketches to ending up with a finished three-dimensional product. I have done this by using material-based research, by sketching directly in the material, to arrive at decisions. Methods such as the artistic hermeneutic spiral have been a good guideline throughout the thesis. The literature has supported and taught me even more about my subject. I have tried to make this as structured and clear as possible for both myself and the reade
