Social Marketing Approach: A Strategy to Improve the Quality of Children's Health in Communities
Full text linkThis article describes children health’s issue as primary need to achieve their basic rights. In general, children are vulnerable to get nutrition inadequacy because they tend to consume unhealthy foods. Healthy food is a basic right that must be fulfilled to support children’s growth and development. I examined two research areas identified that the problem of children in consuming unhealthy foods does not always related to the family poverty problem. This article also describes the conditions in the poor communities in North Jakarta and the intermediate community in Depok, use descriptive studies. The findings showed that children’s behavior in consuming unhealthy food was due to several factors, including lack of knowledge and skills of parents or caregivers and also negative support from the social environment around children. In addition, cultural change and dynamic information technology development has greatly affected the children consumption habit. This article discusses the process description in implementing communication strategies applied for those two research areas which have different characteristics through the social marketing approach. This approach emphasizes the development of the role of all elements in the community and the intervention strategies applied in each area of the study
CHILD-REARING BARRIERS AND SOCIAL SUPPORT OF MIGRANT FAMILIES : A CASE STUDY OF INDONESIAN MOTHERS LIVING IN SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA
Full text linkAn increasing number of Indonesian families migrate to South Korea with different social and cultural aspects emerge the challenges in child-rearing. This study examines two purposes related to child-rearing barriers and social support of migrant families by utilizing qualitative research with a case study design. In-depth interviews and observation carried out data collection during August-November 2021 involving six (6) Indonesian migrant mothers living in Seoul using purposive sampling. Mothers were chosen as informants by considering them as the primary caregiver for children. Regarding the first purpose, this study identified internal and external barriers in child-rearing. In addition, three themes related to social support are analyzed, including instrumental support in tangible and service assistance, emotional support related to social adjustment support, and informational support to access services for children. The resources of support systems come from spouses and parents, Indonesian and Korean friends/colleagues, social institutions, and social media networks. Therefore, there is a need for comprehensive social interventions to strengthen social support for migrant families

Researcher conducting a qualitative descriptive on this study.The findings from this research show that social rehabilitation efforts in homeshelter is not maximized so that the homeless people and beggars in Jakarta tends to return to the street after getting coaching in this homeshalter. This research provide a recommendation to the government to provide a homeshalter which focused for homeless and beggars social rehabilitation, give strict punishment to the homeless and beggars who are back on the street and increases quality and quantity of human resourcesservant

Full text linkThe focus of this study is the effort of PKBM Kampung Cerdas Indonesia within increasing participation of Kelurahan Curug’s community within community development program. This research is qualitative descriptive interpretive and the data were collected by means of depth interview. PKBM Kampung Cerdas Indonesia is a social community which concern in children education. Although PKBM Kampung Cerdas Indonesia not through all the stages within an effort to increase participation in community development program, at least PKBM Kampung Cerdas Indonesia has been through strategic efforts in community development program. The efforts that have been made by PKBM Kampung Cerdas Indonesia is a community outreach with field preparation, managing intervention programs with community, and evaluating with community. These results indicate that these efforts are effective in increasing the participation of various stakeholders such as community leaders, citizens, and target community. In addition, participation also appeared in every stages through as in the planning, implementation, and evaluation

No full textThis study aims to explain the social marketing of Mother Support Group Program in Rawa Buaya as the way to improve breast feeding practice for pregnant mothers and to describe the obstacle of the program. The qualitative data were collected by conducting in-depth interview and direct observation. Based on the result of this study, social marketing of Mother Support Group Program has done various social marketing steps and it is one of the way to achieve the change of pregnant mother’s behavior in order to implement breast feeding practice for the further life. This social marketing is implemented with education and participation for community development
