    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa perbedaan ekuitas merek yang elemennya terdiri dari kesadaran merek, persepsi kualitas, asosiasi merek dan loyalitas merek antara Honda Beat dengan Yamaha Mio. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan komparatif. Metode pengambilan sampel adalah random sampling dengan jumlah responden sebanyak 200 orang responden. Metode analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji beda mean dengan sampel berpasangan dan pengujian hipotesis. Pengujian dilakukan dengan menggunakan bantuan aplikasi SPSS 20,0. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa hasil uji analisi beda mean terdapat perbedaan diseluruh variabel ekuitas merek pada dua merek motor tersebut yaitu kesadaran merek, asosiasi merek, persepsi kualitas dan loyalitas merek. Perbedaan nilai ekuitas merek yang lebih tinggi ditunjukkan pada merek Honda Beat dengan nilai mean sebesar 85,700 lebih besar dari pada nilai ekuitas merek Yamaha Mio 79,940 serta adanya nilai probabilitas ,000 yang lebih kecil dari 0,05.This study aims to analyze the comparison of brand equity that consists of brand awareness, brand association, perceived quality and brand loyalty between Honda Beat and Yamaha Mio This research uses quantitative method with comparative approach. Sampling method is random sampling with the number of respondents as many as 200 respondents. Data analysis method used is discriminant analysis and hypothesis testing. Tests were performed using SPSS 201.0 application. As the result the research shows that there is difference in whole variable of brand equity on those two type of motorcycle that consist of brand awareness, brand association, perceived quality and brand loyalty.     Height Determination Formula Based on Ulna Bone Length in Minang Tribe in 2024

    Background Identification refers to the act or process of recognizing, distinguishing, or establishing the identity or properties of an object or individual. Since March 2024, floods and landslides caused by bad weather have hit 10 regencies and cities in West Sumatra. This disaster resulted in 28 deaths (25 in South Coast and 3 in Padang Pariaman), while 4 people are still declared missing. The Regional Disaster Management Agency declared a 14-day disaster emergency in five of the most affected areas, namely South Coast, Padang Pariaman, West Pasaman Regency, Padang City and Mentawai Islands. The purpose of this study was "to find a formula for determining height based on ulna bone length in the Minang tribe in 2024”. Method This study is an analytical correlation study with a cross-sectional research design The population in this study is Minang tribe with a research sample of all affordable population numbers selected based on inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria. In this study, the sample size is calculated based on the sample size formula for Numeral-Numerical Correlative Analysis. This study consists of two variables, namely independent and dependent variables. The independent variables in this study were ulna bone length (right and left), while the dependent variables in this study were height and characteristics of the subjects (age and sex). Result The number of samples examined to determine height based on ulna bone length in the Minang tribe in 2024 was 134 respondents. The highest number of age-based samples was at the age of 24 years as many as 43 respondents with a percentage of 32.9%. The lowest number of samples was at the age of 25 years as many as 14 respondents with a percentage of 10.4%. The highest number of samples based on gender was in the male sex as many as 88 respondents with a percentage of 65.7%. The lowest number of samples based on gender was in the female sex as many as 46 respondents with a percentage of 34.3%. The longest right ulna bone length of the 134 respondents was 31.5 cm. The shortest right ulna bone length of the 134 respondents was 23.4 cm. The longest left ulna bone length of the 134 respondents was 30.4 cm. The shortest left ulna bone length of the 134 respondents was 23.1 cm. The highest height of the respondents was 186.1 cm. The lowest height of the respondents was 148.2 cm.     “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

    We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
