Hasib Sabbagh : a legacy of understanding
This biographical video examines the legacy of Hasib Sabbagh, the prominent Palestinian businessman and philanthropist whose efforts to promote cross-cultural dialogue led to the creation of Georgetown's Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding. Born to an Arab-Christian family, Sabbagh grew up in Safed, Palestine, before attending the American University in Beirut. In 1952 Sabbagh and his brother-in-law founded Consolidated Contractors Co., one of the largest building companies in the Middle East. The company thrived, and in the years that followed Sabbagh devoted his efforts and resources to building respect amongst religions and peoples. Through his dedication to education and cultural understanding, Sabbagh hoped to help build a just and lasting peace in the Middle East. In 1993, Sabbagh partnered with Fr. Leo J. O'Donovan, President of Georgetown University, and Peter Krogh, Dean of Georgetown's School of Foreign Service, to create the Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding. To this day, the Center remains a bridge of understanding between the Muslim world and the West, and serves a lasting symbol of Sabbagh's devotion to educating future generations
On archery terms included in Tuhfetu’l-Hasib
Examination of the Turkish history clearly reflects that archery has always occupied a special place. Turks, as well as mastering their bow and arrow skills that led them won great victories, they also have written many works on archery. One of these works was named Tuhfetu’lHasib written by Halil Hasib Efendi in 18th century Ottoman era. In this century since firearms started to being used more widely in the battle zones, the use of bow and arrow as a mean of war almost ended. However, Turks continued to organize archery exhibitions of sporty purposes. Tuhfetu’l-Hasib mainly covers the archery exhibitions held in Istanbul Okmeydani district. Himself being an archer Halil Hasib Efendi has transferred his observations and experiences directly to his writings. Besides this, Halil Hasib Efendi, mentions in this writing that he made use of Ottoman history and archery booklets that had been written before his time. Hence, Tuhfetu’l-Hasib both sets light to the history of Turkish archery and gives brief information regarding Ottoman-era archers and also significantly reflects Ottoman archery terminology of the era. Thus, it can be considered as one of the most precious archery booklets written in the Ottoman era. In this article, we will begin with giving brief information regarding Tuhfetu’l-Hasib and Halil Hasib Efendi and continue by introducing briefly the pieces of the booklet that can be transferred to our day. Subsequently, the archery terms mentioned in the booklet will be ordered alphabetically including their origin and necessary descriptions will be made about them. The descriptions will be based on the meaning of the words that in the context of the booklet and the place the words took part in the booklet will be shown at the end. In the conclusion part, some remarks regarding these terms will be included and it will be revealed that Turkish is a language that has created on a large scala its own vocabulary

As a general, Sarawak Education Department administration was started with five part according to division of state district. Its includes: The first part with small district Kuching, Lundu, Bau, Serian and Simunjan. Second part with small district Simanggang, Lubok Antu, Betong and Saratok. Third part with small district Sibu, Mukah/Dalat (under same administration), Daro, Meradong, Sarikei and Kapit. Fourth part with small district Miri, Baram and Bintulu. Fifth part with small district Limbang and Lawas. In 1973’s, Sarawak Education Department has adding administration part which is the sixth part and seventh part. In that structure, small district office is dividing into: Sixth part with small district Sarikei, Julau and Matu/Daro. Seventh part with small district Kapit, Belaga and Song. The restructuring of the Divisional Education Office and District Education Office, which later became known as the Combined Education Office (PPG) and District Education Office Small (PPDK) in 2003 saw the creation of 4 PPG recently that PPG Bintulu, PPG Samarahan, PPG Betong and PPG Mukah and a new PPDK namely PPDK Padawan. It has triggered with 11 PPG and 20 PPDK totaling 31 units. However in 2008, the PPG and PPDK through restructuring and known as the District Education Office (PPD) of 31 as there is now
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Genetic characterization of Erve virus, a European Nairovirus distantly related to Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus
Erve virus (ERVEV) is a European Nairovirus that is suspected to cause severe headache (thunderclap headache) and intracerebral hemorrhage. The mode of transmission to humans (ticks or mosquitoes) is still unknown. Currently, no standardized testing method for ERVEV exists and only a small partial sequence of the polymerase gene is available. Here, we present the first complete genome sequence of ERVEV S, M, and L segments. Phylogenetic comparison of the amino acid sequence of the L-protein (RNA-dependent RNA polymerase) revealed only 48 % homology to available L-protein sequences of other Nairoviruses like Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus, Nairobi sheep disease virus, Hazara virus, Kupe virus, and Dugbe virus. Among themselves, these Nairoviruses show 62-89 % homology in the L-protein sequences. Therefore, ERVEV seems to be only distantly related to other Nairoviruses. The new sequence data can be used for the development of diagnostic methods and the identification of the natural vector
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
Author, publisher and bookseller : a tripartite synergy in Nigerian book industry
This work is about the roles of Author, Publisher and Bookseller in Book development in
Nigeria. The paper started by delving into the history of Book Publishing in Nigeria after
which it proceeded by defining who an author, a publisher, and a bookseller is and
expatiated on the indispensable roles of these key actors in Nigerian Book Industry and in
the emerging Information Society. Furthermore, the various constraints to book
development were identified while the paper advised on how the Book Industry can be
further promoted in Nigeria. However, the paper concluded and made recommendations
on how the Book sector can help in enhancing scholarship in the country
