Design fabrication and characterization of conductivity sensor using printed circuit board / Shaiful Bakhtiar Hashim
This paper described about design, fabrication and characterization of conductivity sensor using printed circuit board (PCB). The main objective is to sense the conductivity of aqua agriculture. A sensor was design by using interdigital capacitor concept where the term interdigital refers to pattern of fingers that is resembled by the shape and relative position of the electrodes. This sensor was fabricated by using PCB in order to minimize the cost than the existing conductivity sensor. Sensor performance was characterized by various test setups to check ability and accuracy of the sensor. From the result, it shown that the sensor has very good sensitivity with correlation coefficient R2 of 0.969
Low-temperature growth of polycrystalline si thin film using RF magnetron sputtering / Shaiful Bakhtiar Hashim
A study on the growth of polycrystalline Silicon (poly-Si) on a glass Substrate at low temperature is being studied. The preparation was done by using direct deposition of Radiofrequency (RF) magnetron sputtering method. The physical and crystallinity of thin films was studied and investigated to focus on various deposition parameters such as RF power of 100 W to 300 W, deposition temperature of room temperature to 200 °C, sputtering pressure of 5 mTorr to 8 mTorr, argon gas flow rate of 40 sccm to 100 sccm and also the influence of Substrate bias power of +10 W to +150 W. The physical structures of the thin films were observed by using field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM), JOEL JSM 7600F, atomic force microscope (AFM) XE-100 Park System AFM and Surface Profiler (SP, KLA Tencor P-6). The crystallinity of the thin films was observed by Raman spectroscopy (Horiba Jobin Yvon). Through the investigation, we found that even giving higher RF power, the thin films Start to crystallize but poly-Si thin films still not achieved. To overcome this problem, we explored the role of Substrate bias to fiirther enhance the crystallization of the thin films. The Substrate bias may provide higher energy during the bombardment and at the same time modifies the arrangement of particles to produce high crystalline quality. The results of the thickness and deposition rate measurements show that Substrate bias has influence on the growth of films on the Substrate. As the Substrate bias increase the deposition rate also increases due to the number of atom collision at the target which iead increasing the particles on the Substrate. From Raman spectroscopy result it showed that the Si-Si transverse optical (TO) peak was around 518 cm"1 for sample deposited at +30 W which indicates the existence of poly-Si phase. It shows that the thin film crystallized even at room temperature deposition with the influenced of the Substrate bias
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

Initial investigation on the needs of laboratory in microelectronic subject / Nur Syahirah Kamarozaman, Norhidayatul Hikmee Mahzan and Shaiful Bakhtiar Hashim
Measuring students’ academic performance has received quite considerable attention till today. This study was conducted to evaluate the significance of laboratory practice in “Fabrication Process” as one way of better apprehensive toward theoretical knowledge. The study population was the second last year students whom enrolled in microelectronic course. A questionnaire based on student’s perception towards this topic was collected and analyzed. Based on the findings, laboratory practice may improve student’s knowledge level thus bettering their apprehension ability making it more relatable to the industry. From this initial investigation, it can be said that majority of the students agree on the needs of laboratory practice in order to improve their understanding about this course
Effect of having theoretical question in final examination for ‘introduction to microelectronics’ (ELE 245) / Shaiful Bakhtiar Hashim, Norhidayatul Hikmee Mahzan and Nur Syahirah Kamarozaman
Introduction to Microelectronics (ELE 245) is one of the compulsory courses for Electrical Engineering student majoring in electronics. This course basically exposing students on basic concept of physics and properties of semiconductor, PN junction, fabrication process and integrated circuits (IC) design flow and layout. In general, there are several factors that influenced students’ in academic performance, such as students’ engagement in class, attitude, effects of social support and lecturer’s teaching method. This paper studied the effect of having theoretical question in final examination for ELE 245 course. In this paper, the respondent is comprised of students’ whom taking this course throughout previous 3 semesters. The data(s) were collected from Result Entry System, which then use to calculate the overall marks, including test, assignment, quiz, laboratory report and final examination thus producing the final grade for each student. From the results, it was found that the theoretical type of question was not favourable to be answered compared to calculations or design questions. In order to improve students’ understanding in theoretical part we proposed to develop an experimental learning process environment
