Since independence in 1957, Malaysia has initiated vigorous socio-economic and other developmental projects in order to raise the well-being and the quality of life of its people. The present study aimed to reveal insights on the reality of life satisfaction among the urban dwellers in Malaysia, particularly the urban civil servants who lived in the major cities in Klang Valley. Adopting the Allardt’s dimensions of welfare, this study explored the subjective meaning of life satisfaction among the administrative staff of a Malaysian university namely Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). Sixteen key informants from four different categories of administrative staff of the University’s main campus in Shah Alam, Selangor were engaged in the researchers’ in-depth interviews whose inputs were later reinforced and verified through written feedback survey. The NVivo version 9 was employed to analyse the data and the main finding has shown that the responses centered around the main theme of moderation. Implications of this study on development policy were also discussed

Currently the progress of Information and Communication Technology has been adapted by various government agencies or private, one of the technology that can be used is web, government have used this technology for e-government. The Office of Industry, Trade and SME of Kota Pagar Alam that runs the Market through the Technical Implementation Unit of the Service gives the right to rent at Pasar Dempo Pagar Alam. During this time if there is an empty kiosk, prospective tenants come to the clerk for confirmation and lease submission process. To simplify the management and lease submission process, an application is needed that can facilitate the officer and prospective tenants to interact, while the application will be built is web-based. The purpose of this study design application in the sense of translating the results of the analysis into the form of software packages later Create the system or improve the existing system. To make the proposed system the author uses the steps of Customer Communication, planning, modeling, construction and deployment

Characterization of mode coupling in few-mode fiber Bragg gratings with selective mode excitation

    No full text
We present the results on fabrication and the characterization of few-mode fiber Bragg gratings (FM-FBGs) inscribed in two mode and four mode step-index fibers. Under the conditions of selective input mode launching, coupling between specific modes of interest can be selectively excited and the self-coupling and cross-coupling properties at the associated resonant wavelengths can be clearly identified and verified by observing the reflected mode intensity profiles. Such FM-FBGs can potentially be used as reflective mode-converters for mode division multiplexed data transmission systems

In modern and industrialized societies, the level of quality of life or life style is measured objectively by economic parameters such as income inequality rate, literacy rate and life expectancy. Many economists believe that money buys happiness, and so, income is the sole measure of well-being. Economists typically equate economic development with per capita income or product, and they usually measure inequality and poverty in terms of real income or consumptions. However, in the early 1970s, Easterlin found that happiness, from the perspective of SWB, does not seem to rise systematically with income. Indeed, this finding seems to be in contradiction with the basic assumption of many economists. Therefore, it is important to provide an insight into the issue on how significant the meaning of happiness or life satisfaction among people. Thus, the main objective of this study is to determine the meaning of well-being among the Malay Muslim respondents. The study adopted a qualitative approach that involved 16 people who worked in University MARA Technology Shah Alam. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis and NVivo 9 was utilized as data management software. Results of the study shows that the themes were centered on 1) the need of spiritual need 2) the economic satisfaction needs & 3) the social needs. The study also revealed significant impacts to policy implications in Malaysia

This poster was presented by Alam, I., Teacher Candidates' opinions about Augmented Reality(AR) as a supplemental educational tool. Presented at 10th Annual Graduate and Professional Student Conference, held at Memorial Union, Ames, IA, April 6 2022. Posted with permission. In recent years, augmented reality (AR) technology has been widely proposed as innovative technology. AR technology superimposes digitally simulated information on the physical environment, which can be a unique element for learning experiences. Despite the potential of AR, there has been relatively little integration of AR into the classroom. The purpose of this pilot study is to examine the acceptance and intentional use of AR technology by teacher candidates and their opinions of AR as a supplemental educational tool. The study has utilized a phenomenological design that is comprised of System Usability Scale survey and interview questions. Based on the participants' answers, research data has been analyzed and discussed

Ever since the plastics industry began in 1900s, the production of plastics has shown a dramatic increase globally as the world is moving towards year 2050. Ironically, most plastics are only being used once and discarded to the landfills and oceans. This phenomenon will be one of the most crucial problem of the century. Hence, a lot of research has been done to study the potential usage of plastic waste in various field. Thus, this study was aimed to find an alternative way to recycle plastics waste into a beneficial product without polluting the environment. PLINK enables those plastic waste to become a useful plastic ink in the form of crayon and can be used widely in the arts and batik making field. Py.rolysis method has been used to extract crude oil from the plastic waste will then undergo petroleum distillation to get petrol that is then change into wax by deoiling. Then organic color pigment is aded to the wax to create a crayon mixture in order to obtain PLINK. PLINK has been tested by the students from the Faculty of Arts and Design at UITM Shah Alam in their art painting classes. Results showed that PLINK has been one of the most green and compatible with the commercial crayons in the market. The simple techniques that need to be apply in using PLINK especially as batik mixture and dyes for shirts was accredited to be green and eco-friendly for the users. PLINK has been proven to be one of the best ways to make abundance of plastic waste more useful and provide a greener way of using crayon in arts and batik making field
