Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Alcohol effects on biofilm production of staphylococcus aureus and pseudomonas aeruginosa / Anis Nabilah Abu Hanipah
Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) are known as the opportunistic pathogens which correspond to biofilm formation. Bacteria that develop as surface associated biofilms are difficult to treat with antimicrobials agents which then lead to lethal infection. Due to alcohol exposure lead to increasing biofilm formation which propose the circumstances of nosocomial infections in regard of alcoholic skin disinfectant are routinely applied in clinical setting. The aim of this study to determine the effect of alcohols against these two microorganisms. For this study, S. aureus and P. aeruginosa are tested with ethanol and isopropanol at different percentages (40%, 60%, 80%, and 95%) for 4 and 24 hours by quantifying biofilm formation. Adherence of biofilms were stained and determined with optical density. Ethanol and isopropanol treatment on sample increased the biofilm formation for certain percentages and duration. S. aureus showed an increased biofilm formation with ethanol at 4 and 24 hours. As in P. aeruginosa at 4 and 24 hours were displayed an increased biofilm formation were inducible by 60%, 80% and 95% isopropanol respectively. As for isopropanol treatment on S. aureus on 4 hours displayed decreased of biofilm formation as it indicates isopropanol works effectively on the organism. While for S. aureus at 24 hours shown an increased biofilm formation in 60%, 80% and 95% of isopropanol. For P. aeruginosa sample incubated for 4 hours were not inducible by ethanol as well as for 24 hours at 40%, 60%, and 80% respectively whereas within 24 hours, only 95% of ethanol, displayed an increased biofilm formation. Biofilm enhancement increased with increasing alcohol concentration for certain time. Hence, alcohols might be a poor disinfectant choice due to ineffectiveness to eliminate S. aureus and P. aeruginosa biofilm

Event quality is influenced by satisfaction. This study was aimed to investigate the relationship between event quality and satisfaction among spectators. There are J 91 of male spectators and 21 7 of female spectators from the total of spectators that answer the questionnaire. The survey using questionnaires approach to 444 of spectators at World Kite Festival but researcher managed to collect 408 samples and another 36 samples was unreturn by the respondent. The respondents were chosen using convenience sampling. The statistical analysis that the researcher used is Pearson correlation to investigate relationship. The current study has indicated that, there is a significant relationship between event quality and satisfaction was 0. 780
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Cloud based remote monitoring and controlling of iron (CBRMC Iron) / Muhammad Faiz Hafizuddin Mohd Hanipah
Neglecting or forgetting to power off the iron during or after done ironing seems to be minor problem. Make no mistake, this problem can be a life threatening. Lot of news mentioning accidents that cause from the unattended iron that cause from minor injuries to life lost incidents. Now in market, they already a lot of product that promote iron with a motion sensor that will turn off after not attended a certain time. However, cost to purchase this product is quite high and there is no much products to choose from in term of features and brands. For the commoners, with this expensive price to purchase for iron, they might think that it is not so important regarding the fact this issue can cause life threatening. Using the feature of Internet of Things (IoT) with the attachment of sensors and cloud can increase the safety system of domestic iron significantly as the data from the sensor will be stored in cloud which can be monitored and controlled. In order to done this, the safety system iron implement with sensors can be used to detect the condition of the iron most of time. Then the alert system or notification system implemented to notify the user status of iron as well as monitored and controlled it via wireless connection with the help of ESP8266 Wi-Fi module. This ESP8266 will get network connection through WI-FI and enable connection between user and hardware. After that, tilt sensor also used in order to detect the condition of iron to decide the next action which power off the iron or not under certain conditions. All the data gathering such as power usage, time log and monitoring will be stored inside the cloud for user or owner to analyze in the future
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
