Full text linkRapid development in construction technology and the evolution of hightechnology architectural style in Malaysia are two contributing factors to the rising of curtain walling buildings in Malaysia. Curtain walling, which is a glass-clad building circling the whole building externally, which is also functions as building envelope shielding the internal area from external environmental factors. The crucial issues impacting the curtain walling are the environmental factors. Assessment on the environmental impacts, thus become a necessity when selecting types of materials to be used as curtain walling. Since curtain walling has become such intensive development, life cycle costing is a critical aspect that should be put into consideration. The specification of glass as curtain walling which allows natural light penetration into the internal sides of the building is the reason on why such material is chosen as building skin. Synchronisation of building material and ‘corporate’ image that reflecting the building functions are other reasons on why curtain walling system is being adopted, besides the practicality of the construction system
Nasionalisme Islam: perjuangan Ahmad Hanafiah di Lampung, 1937-1947
Full text linkThis article examines how nationalism and Islam intersected in Ahmad Hanafiah's struggels by using historical research methods. Newspapers, actor’s biographies from the past, and two publications by Hanafiah served as the historical materials for this study. Hanafiah is an enlightened religious scholar and intellectual. Through the book of Sirr al-Dahr (1936), he was able to address societal problems in Lampung. His use of the concepts from the Book Al-Hujjah (1937) in supported Indonesian independence based on Islamic values. He has been focusing his ideas and efforts on strengthening Indonesian nationalism and the Lampung Muslim community. As an effect of Dutch aggression in Ramadhan 1366 H (July-August 1947), he led Hezbollah troops from Lampung to conquer Baturaja City in the spirit of sabil war (jihad) until he was captured and killed. Hanafiah was successful in combining nationalism and Islam. This study learning that nationalism and religion may coexist peacefully in order to establish a sovereign and independent state. Artikel ini mengkaji tentang bagaimana perjumpaan Islam dan nasionalisme dalam perjuangan Ahmad Hanafiah dengan menggunakan metode penelitian sejarah. Sumber sejarahnya adalah karya Hanafiah, surat kabar, dan catatan para pelaku sejarah. Hanafiah adalah seorang ulama dan intelektual yang tercerahkan. Melalui buku kitab Sirr al-Dahr (1936), dia mampu mengatasi masalah-masalah kemasyarakatan di Lampung. Dia menggunakan pemikiran dari Kitab Al-Hujjah (1937) untuk mempertahankan kemerdekaan Indonesia berlandaskan nilai-nilai Islam. Ia mencurahkan pikiran dan tenaganya untuk membangun masyarakat muslim Lampung dan nasionalisme Indonesia. Akibat agresi militer Belanda pada Ramadhan 1366 H (Juli-Agustus 1947), ia memimpin pasukan Hizbullah dari Lampung merebut Kota Baturaja dengan semangat perang sabil (jihad) hingga akhirnya ditangkap dan dibunuh. Hanafiah berhasil mempertemukan spirit Islam dan nasionalisme. Kajian ini menunjukkan bahwa agama dan nasionalisme merupakan kesatuan dalam membangun negara yang merdeka dan berdaulat

Full text linkThis research inteded to find the biography of KH. Ahmad Hanafiah and to examine his fight in haslling the Independent of Indonesia in Karesidenan Lampung. The methode of this research was historic method by using steps, (1) heuristics, (2) resource critics, (3) interpretations, (5) historiography. Derivying the result from the instruments, it can be drawn as follows; (1) KH. Ahmad Hanafiah was a clergy and a religion teacher who served himself as the politician or a teacher in Lampung region. (2) KH. Ahmad Hanafiah was a leader of Sukadana Hisbullah Troops whom sacrifice himself in facing the first Netherland Military Agression and he was died in the battlefield in 1947.
