Affordable rural housing: tackling the 'land question' on rural exception sites

Phoebe Stirling, Nick Gallent and Iqbal Hamiduddin report on research into the development of affordable homes on rural exception sites in England, and the increasing complexities around cross-subsidy support and incentives to landowners, which risk inflating land price expectation and undermining this key mechanism of local needs housing delivery

Struktur p-Nilpoten Pada Grup Berhingga Dengan Subgrup Sylow Complemented

    No full text
============================================================================================================================= The concept of complemented subgroups is the development of the subgroup properties of finite groups. Sylow subgroup is an example of a subgroup that has complemented properties. Suppose G is a finite group and H is a subgroup of G. The subgroup H is said to be complemented in G if there exists a subgroups K of G such that G = H ∗ K and H ∩ H = {e}. The discussion in this final project is that For each prime p hat divides the order of G, let P be the Sylow p−subgroup of G. We assign to each P a subgroup D such that 1 ≤ |D| < |P|, and study the structure of G under the assumption that for each subgroup H of P with |H| = |D| or |H| = p|D| is complemented in G. To facilitate our understanding, several examples will be constructed

The Workout Garage was founded in 2019 by a group of six friends namely Liyana Batrisyia, Vanaessa Evangelista, Sarmiza, Nurul Harisha, Connielia and Syied Hamiduddin. The reason why they came up with this business is because they see the needs and trends among the students of Universiti Teknologi Mara Campus Samarahan 2. Most of the students like to go to the gym during their leisure time but however most of the gyms are located at Desa Ilmu and unlike Universiti Teknologi Mara Campus Samarahan, Universiti Teknologi Mara Campus Samarahan 2 does not have a personalized gym for the students and staffs

Journey to Work Travel Outcomes from 'City of Short Distances' Compact City Planning in Tübingen, Germany

In the southern German city of Tübingen, a ‘city of short distances’ planning model has been applied to try to reduce the need to travel through the co-location of employment space with housing—a style of compact city planning reportedly influenced by Jane Jacobs’ principles for urban vitality. However, until now the impact of this mixed land use model on work travel patterns has not been systematically researched. This paper reports on empirical research that has explored the implications of the model for employing organizations and employees, through qualitative key actor interviews and quantitative data obtained by surveys of employees in short distance neighbourhoods and those in two control neighbourhoods. The findings show that short distance planning appears to reduce work travel distances and encourage sustainable travel patterns of work travel, although the role of residential self-selection in producing these patterns remains unclear in this preliminary study

    Self-Build Homes

Self-Build Homes connects the burgeoning interdisciplinary research on self-build with commentary from leading international figures in the self-build and wider housing sector. Through their focus on community, dwelling, home and identity, the chapters explore the various meanings of self-build housing, encouraging new directions for discussions about self-building and calling for the recognition of the social dimensions of this process, from consideration of the structures, policies and practices that shape it, through to the lived experience of individuals and households. Divided into four parts – Discourse, Rationale, Meaning; Values, Lifestyles, Imaginaries; Community and Identity; and Perspectives from Practice – the volume comes at a time of renewed focus from policy managers and practitioners, as well as prospective builders themselves, on self-build as a means for producing homes that are more stylised, affordable and appropriate for the specific needs of households. It responds to recent advances in housing and planning policy, while also bringing this into conversation with interdisciplinary perspectives from across the social sciences on housing, home and homemaking. In this way, the book seeks to update understandings of self-build and to account for housing as a distinctly social process
