Peran Majelis Dalam Membentuk Solidaritas Sosial : Studi Perspektif Emile Durkheim
This study aims to examine the role of the assembly in forming social solidarity in local communities using Émile Durkheim's perspective. This study was conducted at the Majelis Sholawat Nariya, Prekbun Village, through a qualitative approach with observation techniques, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the routine activities of the assembly carried out in rotation at members' homes not only strengthen religious values, but also form close social relations among members. This finding indicates the formation of mechanical solidarity, marked by similarities in activities, values, and habits carried out collectively. On the other hand, the development of the role of the assembly into the social realm such as mutual cooperation and cross-community activities also shows the emergence of organic solidarity, namely cooperation that arises from the differentiation of social roles and functions. This study presents novelty by showing that traditional institutions such as the assembly still have vitality and relevance in building social cohesion in modern society. The assembly has proven to be an effective alternative social space in dealing with the crisis of social alienation and individualism. This finding provides a theoretical contribution to strengthening Durkheim's theory in the local context, as well as practical implications for the development of community-based social institutions.
The international conflict between Israel and Palestine has been going on for a long time and has not found a solution to date. The mass media continues to highlight this conflict in various forms, which has made the issue of the Palestinian people as victims of Israeli atrocities increasingly known throughout the world. Israel's cruelty can be seen from several incidents of gunfire, bombings and building demolitions. The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) as a religious institution in Indonesia provides support for Palestine through MUI Fatwa Number 83 of 2023 concerning the Law on Support for the Palestinian Struggle. One of the recommended points from this fatwa is to avoid transactions and using products affiliated with Israel. This fatwa is identified with the boycott of Israeli products or those affiliated with Israel. However, this fatwa has reaped pros and cons among Indonesian society. Therefore, this research wants to see how the lecturers at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta view, respond and interpret the fatwa, both from theological, social and political aspects. These lecturers were chosen because in the context of research related to Islam, they used the opinions or responses of lecturers who were experts in their fields. As academics who deeply understand Islamic law, theology and Islamic thought, these lecturers are expected to be able to provide their perspectives to thoroughly analyze the MUI fatwa from a theological, social and political perspective.
Based on the problems above, this research proposes two problem formulations. First, how did the lecturers at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta respond to the MUI Fatwa regarding the boycott of Israeli products. Second, what is the Hermeneutical analysis of the response of lecturers at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. This research is qualitative in nature using a critical discourse analysis approach. The data validation used in this research is descriptive-analytic. In this research, the author uses the hermeneutic theory initiated by Hans-Georg Gadamer.
Based on the data that has been summarized and analyzed, this research produced several findings. Mr. Dr. Moh. Mufid, LC., M.H.I., Mr. Dr. Ali Shodiqin, M.Ag., and Mr. Dr. Shofiyullah Muzammil, M.Ag., believes that the MUI fatwa regarding the boycott of Israeli products serves more to increase awareness and solidarity, rather than to force action. Mr. Dr. Mufid stressed the importance of discussions about diplomatic relations with Israel, giving the public an opportunity to consider boycott or cooperation. Mr. Dr. Shodiqin stated that this fatwa can be interpreted contextually and relatively, depending on the situation and perspective of the reader. Meanwhile, Mr. Dr. Shofiyullah added that although this fatwa may cause tension with countries supporting Israel, it is still respected as a religious decision that does not claim political authority, leaving room for dissent. Overall, the lecturers' responses show that the UIN lecturers' answers reflect positive prejudices originating from religious traditions, principles of justice, benefit and social responsibility. They use theological experience to understand the MUI fatwa regarding the boycott of Israeli products. This prejudice supports the interpretation of fatwas according to political, economic and social contexts, and shows openness to dialogue between tradition and contemporary reality, in accordance with the concept of fusion of horizons in Gadamer's hermeneutics
