Solving transcendental equation using genetic algorithm / Masitah Hambari
A problem of great importance in engineering is finding the roots of the equations. There are closed form expressions for the case of linear, quadratic or cubic equations. For higher orders like Transcendental Equation, Numerical Methods is used to find the solutions. Genetic algorithm (GA) has long been used for optimization problems that arise in a wide variety of complex systems. This project studies and explores the potential of using Genetic Algorithm to solve Transcendental Equation. Genetic Algorithm is used to find the roots or set of optimal solution that satisfy the equation. The most critical task for developing this project is how to encode the algorithm based on the domain, Transcendental Equation. This project studies the potential of using Genetic Algorithm and develops a program in order to solve Transcendental Equation in optimizing problem domain. This solution hopefully may provide a potential alternative for a better solution
TOLERANSI BERAGAMA DALAM TAFSIR ULAMA JAWA (Telaah Pemikiran KH. Misbah Musthofa dalam Tafsir al-Iklil)
The 2001 WTC bombing incident has made Islam called a terrorist religion and continues to stigmatize radicalism, even recently, it is anti-semitic. The embedding of stigmas has made many scholars try to bring back a paradigm that Islam is a tolerant religion and has universal compassion, even though some Islamic scholars later went too far in interpreting this tolerance, there was an understanding of religious equality. This research discussed Misbah Musthofa's perspective of religious tolerance by using prophetic social science analysis. There are two important points that can be deduced from his thoughts regarding tolerance. First, people of other religions must be treated well and fairly as long as they are not bad to us. Second, this attitude of tolerance must be accompanied by the belief that Islam is the only true religion (positive pluralism). In general, his thoughts regarding religious tolerance are very much in line with the pillars of humanization, liberation and transcendence in prophetic social sciences and are sufficiently capable of eradicating bad stigma against Islam
Investigating the influence factors on elderly's technology acceptance and use on smartphone using extended UTAUT Model / Masitah Hambari
Smartphone technology develops at tremendous speeds and its impact our daily life. Studies found that older people are less likely to use technology compare to younger people due to many factors. Meantime, elderly population in Malaysia as projected by Department of Statistic Malaysia predicted to growth 12% of total population by 2030. Baby-boomers are selected in this study due to their age range that very soon will populate elderly population in Malaysia. Purposes of this study were to identify the influencing factors on baby-boomer’s technology acceptance on smartphone and to investigate smartphone features used by them using Extended UTAUT Model by Perceived Value. Data were collected randomly based on convenient sampling through a questionnaire survey. Scope of study was baby-boomers who had educated background and basic computer literacy. Questionnaire items were developed based on previous research. 32 respondents aged 50 to 69 years old were administrated in this study. Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) was used for data analysis. Pearson’s Product-Moment Correlation was used to analyze correlation between constructs. Generally, baby-boomers had a positive attitude towards using smartphone. Effort Expectancy, Facilitating Condition, Social Influence and Perceived Value were found to have direct impact to Behavioral Intention to Use. Performance Expectancy also found to have direct impact to Perceived Value. Implications and further recommendation of this study are discussed

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
