Analysis of economic feasibility of assisted tractors in Banten province, Indonesia
The objectives of this study were: 1) Knowing the performance and efficiency of tractors using in Banten province, 2) Knowing the economic feasibility of tractors business, 3) Knowing the business problems of tractors. The sampling method uses purposive simple random sampling with 123 respondents. The method of analysis uses B/C ratio, IRR, NPV, PP, and descriptive. The results are: 1) The potential capacity of hand tractors per year is 32.6 ha while the actual capacity only 23.9 ha/year, so the efficiency is 73.3%, while the efficiency of 4-WT is 22.8%, 2) For hand tractor the value of B/C ratio based on economic price is 0.66, NPV disc factor 45% is IDR 8,953,415, and IRR is 78%, and PP is 1.73 years; for 4- WT the value of B/C ratio is 0.89, NPV disc factor is IDR. 16,693,824 and IRR is 11%, and PP is 11.7 years. 3) The problem of the tractors business, if there is an engine failure, the owner has not been able to fix it and the availability of spare parts is relatively difficult. Suggestions, the central and regional governments need to provide training to improve the 4-WT machines
KAJIAN KETAHANAN VARIETAS KENTANG TERHADAP SERANGAN PENYAKIT Phytophthora infestans DI KABUPATEN KARO, SUMATERA UTARA
The Study of Potato Variety Assessment Resistence for Phytophthora infestans Disease in District Karo, North Sumatra. Potate is a main potential commodity in North Sumatra where the poduction was marketed to fulfill local and regional needs. This research was done in Cinta Rakyat Village, Simpang Empat Subdistrict, Karo Regency, North Sumatra which was located at 1,250 m above the sea level. In this research four vatrieties were used; Granola, Atlantik, Kikondo, Margahayu and 0981-1085 Strains which were arranged by random Block Design and each treatment repeated 5 times. The distance between these plants was 30 cm x 80 cm, the plot measurement was 3m x 4 m (50 plants). The distance between each treatment was 50 cm, the distance between each repetition was 100 cm. To protect this plant from diseases several materials were used; 20 t/ha manure, 200 kg/ha urea, 400 kg/ha SP- 36, 200 kg/ha ZA, 150 kg/ha KCl. Where as pest control was adjusted with the local condition. The research results after 70 days of plantation showed that the lowest intensity of Phytophthora infestans disease was found in Strains 0981-1085 (64.45%) treatment, where as the highest intensity was found in Granola variety (79.75%). The highest production was found in Strains 0981-1085 (31.89 t/ha) treatment, whereas Granola variety only reach 12,95 t/ha. The R/C value was Granola (1), Margahayu (1.6), Atlantik (1.8), Kikondo (2.2) and 0981-1085 (2.5).Tanaman kentang merupakan salah satu komoditas unggulan dan menjadi sentra di Sumatera Utara, produknya dipasarkan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan lokal dan regional. Kajian ini dilaksanakan di Desa Cinta Rakyat, Kabupaten Karo, Sumatera Utara, ketinggian 1250 m dpl. Varietas kentang yang digunakan, yaitu: varietas Granola, Atlantik, Kikondo Margahayu dan Galur 0981-1085. Menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok, setiap perlakuan diulang 5 kali. Jarak tanam kentang 30 cm x 80 cm, jarak antar perlakuan 50 cm. Pupuk yang digunakan: pupuk kandang ayam 20 t/ha, Urea 200 kg/ha, SP-36 400 kg /ha, ZA 200 kg/ha, KCl 150 kg /ha. Pengendalian hama disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa tanaman pada umur 70 hari setelah tanam (hst), intensitas serangan Phytophthora infestans terendah terdapat pada perlakuan 0981-1085 (64,45%) sedangkan intensitas serangan tertinggi terdapat pada perlakuan Varietas Granola (79,53%). Produksi tertinggi terdapat pada perlakuan Galur 0981-1085 (31,89 t/ha), sedang Varietas Granola hanya mencapai 12,95 t/ha. Hasil perhitungan antara penerimaan dan pengeluaran (R/C) memberikan nilai secara berturut-turut Granola (1), Margahayu (1,6), Atlantik (1,8), Kikondo (2,2) dan Galur 0981-1085 (2,5). Dengan demikian, tanaman kentang Galur 0981-1085 dan Kikondo layak untuk ditanam

Performance of growth and productivity of several maize varieties in the dry land ecosystem
This research activity aims to determine the growth and productivity performance of several maize varieties in the dry land of the Karo district. The study was conducted in Kutabangun Village, Tiga binanga district, Karo Regency from February to June 2019. This study used a Randomized Block Design with the treatment of 4 varieties of corn with the same components of the corn plant technology package as the integrated corn crop management approach. The varieties tested were: 1.) Pioneer 32, 2.) NK 22, 3.) BIMA 20 and 4.) NASA 29 and as replicates. 5 (five) farmers. Each farmer planted 4 varieties of corn on an area of 1 ha, so the land required for this test was 5 ha. The results of observations of dry-shelled seed weight (t/ha) showed that there was a significant difference between the four varieties planted where the dry-shelled seed weight (t/ha) ranged from 7.68 to 8.53 t/ha. The highest dry seed weight (t/ha) was produced by the Pioneer 32 variety, which was 8.53 t/ha, followed by the NK 22 (7.95 t/ha), NASA 29 (7.82 t/ha), and BIMA 20 ( 7.68 t/ha). Net income per hectare/season produced by the Pioneer 32 varieties (Rp. 19.490.000), Nasa 29 (Rp. 17.170.000), BIMA 20 (Rp. 16.65 million), and the NK 22 varieties (Rp. 16.090.000) and The B/C ratio per hectare of each variety is the Pioneer 32 (1.33%), Nasa 29 (1.17%), BIMA 20 (1.13%) and the NK variety 22 (1.12%)

ECONOMIC ANALYSIS OF SHALLOT COMMODITY DEVELOPMENT IN NORTH PADANG LAWAS DISTRICT
There are still many problems faced by shallot farmers in North Padang Lawas district, as horticultural farmers in other areas in Indonesia, become an obstacle in efforts to develop shallot commodities in North Padang Lawas Regency, so that it has not been able to provide optimal welfare to farmers. Although this commodity has traditionally been cultivated by farmers in several sub-districts within this district and The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia has also designated North Padang Lawas Regency as one of the Development of National Shallot Commodity Agricultural Areas through Keputusan Menteri Pertanian Nomor 472 Tahun 2018 Regarding the National Agricultural Area, but it needs to be studied further to analyze the potential and economic development strategy of shallots as the aim of this study. This study was conducted from June to November 2019. The method used was a survey, followed by direct observation about the development of shallots in 6 (six) districts, interview with field extension officers, retailers and wholesalers in North Padang Lawas Regency. Data and information were analyzed descriptively and analyzed by R / C ratio. The results of the study show that shallot farming activities in North Padang Lawas Regency are very economically and financially feasible, with an ideal R / C ratio of 2.04 with a profit of Rp.76.108.500,- for each hectare of land cultivated for shallot cultivation.Masih banyaknya permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh para petani bawang merah di kabupaten Padang Lawas Utara, sebagaimana petani hortikultura di daerah lainnya di Indonesia, menjadi kendala dalam upaya pengembangan komoditas bawang merah di Kabupaten Padang Lawas Utara, sehingga belum dapat memberikan kesejahteraan secara optimal kepada para petani. Walaupun komoditi ini secara tradisional telah diusahakan oleh petani di beberapa kecamatan yang terdapat di kabupaten ini, dan Kementerian Pertanian Republik Indonesia juga telah menetapkan Kabupaten Padang Lawas Utara sebagai salah satu Pengembangan Kawasan Pertanian Komoditas Bawang Merah Nasional melalui Keputusan Menteri Pertanian Nomor 472 Tahun 2018 Mengenai Kawasan Pertanian Nasional, namun perlu dikaji lebih jauh untuk menganalisis potensi dan strategi pengembangan bawang merah secara ekonomi sebagai tujuan dari kajian ini. Kajian ini dilakukan pada bulan Juni s/d November 2019. Metode yang digunakan survei, diikuti observasi/ pengamatan langsung tentang pengembangan bawang merah di 6 (enam) kecamatan, wawancara terhadap PPL, pedagang eceran dan pedagang besar di Kabupaten Padang Lawas Utara. Data dan informasi dianalisis secara deskriptif dan analisis Ratio R/C. Hasil kajian menunjukkan kegiatan usahatani bawang merah di Kabupaten Padang Lawas Utara sangat layak secara ekonomi dan finansial, dengan R/C rasio ideal sebesar 2,04 dengan keuntungan sebesar Rp.76.108 500 untuk setiap hektar lahan yang diusahakan untuk budidaya bawang merah

Estimated Shallot Yield Area Using the Rapid Classification of Croplands Method
Shallots are one of the horticultural commodities that have fluctuating prices. Market integration occurs horizontally but not vertically due to poor information systems at the producer and consumer levels. This study aimed to estimate the area of shallot land quickly using the rapid classification of croplands method. The research was conducted in Merek District, Karo Regency, North Sumatra. Primary data obtained from survey activities were processed using the Google Earth Engine platform. Classification and regression trees (CART) and random forest (RF) algorithms were used to classify land cover as onion and non-onion classes. The shallot land area based on this method was 74.4 hectares, with an area accuracy of 95% (RF) and 24% (CART) and a location accuracy of 92% (CART and RF). The rapid classification of croplands method can estimate land area quickly. It helps stakeholders who need information on shallot production projections and can be developed to improve the vertical market integration information system (market integration between producers and consumers). Some areas for improvement of this method are limited access and resolution, inability to describe up to the level of garden bunds, and the condition of the area covered by clouds, which will affect the accuracy of the results.

CHARACTERISTICS AND ANALYSIS OF SHALLOTS FARMING IN DOLOK SILAU SIMALUNGUN, NORTH SUMATRA
The purpose of this study is to determine the characteristics of shallot cultivation and to understand the financial feasibility analysis in Dolok Silau Simalungun to enhance the improvement of the technology needed. Methods used in this research are survey and observation methods. Based on the assessment results, it was found that shallot farming which is planted on dry land and small scale in Sarang Padang, Dolok Silau, Simalungun has a 0,05 – 0,1 ha area. The productivity of that farming is low which averaging 5,25 tonnes/ha. The total production cost is Rp 59.598.000 with a B/C ratio of 0,59. The capital of shallot production is Rp 10.743,00 per kg. Most of the shallot production cost is absorbed by labor cost (36 %), followed by seed cost (35%). The increment of revenue can be achieved by improving productivity through the improvement of farming technologies. Technology improvements in shallot cultivation that are needed are increasing plant density, seed quality improvement, replacement of labor weeding, and the use of integrated pest and disease control. To anticipate price fluctuations, farmers need a storage technology that is a group warehouse to keep the shallot when the market price is very cheap. Institutional education needs to be strengthened for the socialization of shallot cultivation technology and innovation for the farmers
