No full textTo mark the 60th birthday of Femi Osofisan, this unique collection of essays by friends and critics pays tribute to his many achievements as a director, teacher, essayist, novelist, poet, critic and one of the foremost playwrights from Africa. The essays provide an important insight into the man,his work and his valuable contributions to theatre and literature in Africa.
Femi Osofisan has taught, directed and had his plays performed in several countries including Australia, Canada, Germany, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Jamaica, Lesotho, Sri Lanka, United Kingdom and the USA. Author of more than fifty plays, two books for junior readers, four works of fiction, four collections of poetry anf four volumes of essays, Osofisan also has popular columns in a number of Nigerian newspapers. Currently the President of the Nigerian Centre of International PEN and a Patron of the Pan-African Writers' Association, he has been the President of the Association of Nigerian Authors. Osofisan is currently a Professor of Drama at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria.

image to differentiate themselves from others. This is important in luring travelers
which will directly affect the development of the hotel itself. This can be achieved
only through the efforts of all elements of the hotel which are divided into several
departments. The front office department, especially, should have good
cooperation among its staffs because the front office has most direct contact with
the guests. The receptionist as a part of the front office department has a large
responsibility as a representative of the hotel which should create a good image.
This paper sets out to describe the job scope of a receptionist at
Kusuma Sahid Prince Hotel, Surakarta based on the job training undergone by the
author. The receptionist plays important role in handling the guests’ needs. To
give the best service, a receptionist must have good knowledge about all sectors in
the hotel and also the information external to the hotel related to the guests’ needs.
It is also supported by good and professional grooming based on appropriate hotel
standards.
From the data, one conclusion that can be drawn from this study is
that the job description of a receptionist in Kusuma Sahid Prince Hotel includes
various aspects. The receptionists of Kusuma Sahid Prince Hotel have a large
responsibility to know the job scope and do it to the best of their ability in order to
build an attractive image of the hotel
Development of an asynchronous solar-powered cooker

The certified thesis is available in the Institute Archives and Special Collections.Includes bibliographical references (p. 63-64).One reason that solar cookers have not gained widespread acceptance is because their use has proved inconvenient and impractical. Users are restricted to cooking when, and where, the sun is shining. Furthermore, the cooking temperature can not readily be raised or lowered as desired. In contrast, the Wilson solar cooker is designed to permit use under conditions characterized by low or no insulation. Furthermore, the design would facilitate users adjusting temperatures. These temperatures would reach levels as high as 258° C. In order to validate the concept, construction of one prototype was initiated. Lithium nitrate, the heat-storage material, was shown to meet the stated requirements of storing heat at a constant temperature of 258° C for up to six hours. Furthermore, this heat-storage material stored heat at temperatures above the boiling point of water, for up to 25 hours. Thus, it is expected that a meal for six people can be prepared up to six hours after charging of the thermal battery.by P. Femi Akinwale.S.M

The Politics of Regionalism. An Analysis of National Integration problems in Nigeria 1979-1988, 1991
No full textThis dissertation examines the problems of national integration in Nigeria from 1979 to 1988. It is aimed at analyzing variables that may be responsible for the failures of national integration. In fulfilling this task, the researcher employed pluralism as the theoretical framework most appropriate in analyzing this study. The study was carried out through the use of both primary and secondary sources. To test our hypothesis, questionnaires were administered in Nigeria which yielded some demographic and attitudinal data. The respondents were regarded as knowledgeable on the issue of national integration in Nigeria. A discussion of the political history and an outline of Nigeria's ethnic rivalry provide the background for the study. Our findings revealed that the following variables impede national integration: Neocolonialism, Religion, Traditionalism, Colonial Legacy, Political parties, and Language. These findings support our hypothesis. The study also revealed the reluctance of the political leaders to work for unity in diversity. The study offered extensive recommendations in the areas of education, political organization and revenue allocation. The recommendation stressed the need for effective leadership in building a strong integrated nation. The researcher also recommended that further research be conducted seeking to find how the problems of national integration in Africa can be resolved
(Re)Writing History in Maryse Condé, Femi Euba, and Reinaldo Arenas
No full textThis comparative study asserts the centrality of spirituality to literature that explores life in the African Diaspora. Specifically, it emphasizes the importance of spirituality both to the authors and to the lives of their characters in the novels Victoire, les saveurs et les mots (2006) by the Guadeloupian author Maryse Condé, Camwood at Crossroads (2007) by Nigerian author Femi Euba, and El color del verano (1991) by Cuban author Reinaldo Arenas. A close reading of the three novels shows that they are representative of autohistoría literary works, which represent the spirituality of the writer, as well as the people written about. Importantly, this comparative study identifies narrative strategies and techniques in African Diasporic writing, such as the expression of collective memory, satire, and choteo, as modes of analysis, recognition, and resistance to oppression. Each novel is, therefore, an example of subaltern self-representation that resists cultural hegemony and gives voice to groups that have been historically silenced. Each author’s spirituality informs the will to understand, to redefine, and to transform oppressive social relations in societies inhabited by the characters. Uniquely, this comparative study avoids universalizing characters experiences with oppression and demonstrates that many forms of oppression are unique to specific groups of people and may not be experienced universally. The implication of this finding is that advocates of human liberation must listen, understand, and dialogue across groups to achieve their goals

As education evolves in response to the digital age, it ischallenging to equip students with skills that are relevant to the modern worldand to create supportive learning environments tailored to their needs. Tosucceed in today's competitive landscape, students need a diverse set of skills.Despite recognition of benefits of Design Thinking, Computational Thinking, and Emerging Technologies individually, there remains a lack of comprehensivestudies on their combined use in K-12 education. This research seeks to addressthis gap by examining how the integration of these approaches can enhanceaccessibility and inclusivity in education. Through the Exten(D.T)2 project, thisstudy delves into pedagogical innovation and technological integration.Employing a theory-driven methodology, the research analyzes these approachesin K-12 education, drawing on theoretical frameworks, social media, and expertopinions. Platforms such as VOSviewer, Orange Biolab, and NVivo wereutilized for data analysis and visualization, while the Python programminglanguage, along with Machine Learning and Deep Learning techniques, wasemployed to analyze and derive insights from the data. The findings offervaluable insights and recommendations for implementing these methodologiesin education, addressing curriculum design, educator training, resourceallocation, policy development, inclusivity, ethics, and evaluation. By using thisapproach, educational institutions can harness these methodologies to improvelearning outcomes and better prepare students for the challenges of the digitalage. In conclusion, this research identifies areas for improvement in currenteducational design and suggests avenues for future investigation
