On se naročito izdvajao solidnim obavještenjima o aktuelnim zbivanjima i novinama u evropskoj književnosti, umjetnosti i politici. Criticism first noticed him as the translator of Cervantes' "Exemplary Stories". In the circle of Sarajevo intellectuals of the time, who were published in the magazine "Pregled", Alkalaj also had a significant personal share. He was particularly distinguished by solid reports on current events and news in European literature, art, and politics. As a representative of those ideas that meant progress and defended the right to revolutionary social changes, Alkalaj wrote several political articles, some of which have not lost their actuality and importance even today. Haim Alkalaj announced himself on two sides: with essays and articles he published in Sarajevo newspapers and magazines, as well as essays. Collected from magazines and newspapers and separated in one place, Alkalaj's essays and articles show, instead of any guesswork, their true thematic breadth, formal uniqueness, and volume. Thus, the areas into which he entered and lucidly discussed them in an essayistic manner can only be seen most clearly...Biblioteka "Kulturno nasljeđe Bosne i Hercegovine".Str. 9-40: Književno-kritički radovi Haima Alkalaja (Literary and critical works of Haim Alkalaj) / Vojislav Maksimović.Bibliografija radova Haima Alkalaja (Bibliography of the works of Haim Alkalaj): str. 225-230
