ABSTRAK
Snort sebuah perangkat lunak yang open source yang mendukung
semua sistem operasi seperti linux,window maupun solaris, snort
merupakan sistem pendeteksi yang bisa dikembangkan menjadi sistem
pencegahan dengan cara mengkombinasikan IDS dan firewall dengan
menjalankan snort pada mode inline.. snort sangat membantu para
administrator jaringan untuk meningkatkan sistem keamanan jaringan,
karena bisa dikonfigurasi sesuai keinginan. Snort juga bisa dikonfigurasi
untuk meyimpan outputnya ke database log snort, yang setiap saat
bisa dilihat paket yang dianggap sebuah penyusupan. Pada skripsi ini
penyusun akan mengkonfigurasi snort pada sistem operasi windows 7,
kenapa memilih windows karena pada penelitian sebelumnya
kebanyakan menggunakan sistem operasi linux. Disini penulis
mengkonfigurasi snort sebagai sistem yang dapat mendeteksi dan
mencegah paket yang di identifikasi sebuah serangan, jika terdeteksi
sebagai sebuah serangan maka sistem akan mengirimkan alert untuk
memblocking sehingga paket tersebut tidak terkirim ke alamat korban,
namun snort akan mencatat disebuah log databasenya. Ketika Snort
NIPS(Network Intrusion Prevention System) aktif, serangan seperti Ping
Of death, seranga DOS dan Port Scanning bisa dicegah.

ABSTRACT
Snort, an open source software that supports all operating systems such
as Linux, Windows and Solaris, Snort is an Intrusion Detection System
(IDS) detection system that can be developed into an Intrusion
Prevention System (IPS) prevention system by combining IDS and a
firewall by running snort in inline mode too. some network
administrators use this software. snort is very useful for network
administrators to improve the network security system because it can be
configured as desired. Snort can be configured to save its output to the
Snort log database which can be seen at any time which packages are
considered an attack. In this thesis the author will configure the snort on
the Windows 7 operating system, why choose Windows because in
previous studies mostly use the Linux operating system. Here the author
configures it as a prevention system that whenever a package is
identified as an attack or suspicious it will be rejected. Snort works with
its rules that will match the package in the snort's rules database. if it is
in the form of an attack the system will send an alert to block it so that
the packet is not forwarded to the victim but the snort will record it in its
database log. When Snort NIPS is active, attacks like Ping of death,
DOS attacks and Port Scanning are prevented

Information Extraction Based On The Analysis Of Motor Supply And Structural Vibration For Machinery Condition Monitoring
An Image of Crusader in Usama al-Munqidh Work „The Book of Instruction With Illustrations” (Kitāb al I’ tibār).
Bakalaura darbs „Krustneša tēls Usamas al-Munkida darbā „Vēstījumu grāmata” (Kitāb
al-I’tibār)” ir veltīts krustneša tēla analīzei un izvērtējumam.
Šāds darba tēmas uzstādījums ir svarīgs, jo tajā izvērsts konkrēta vēsturiska cilvēka
skatījums uz tā laika dzīves situācijām, kā arī tāpēc, ka tajā atspoguļojas Usamas al-Munkida
dzīves pieredze, sadzīvojot kopā ar citu kultūru pārstāvjiem un ikdienā kontaktējoties ar tiem.
Usamas al-Munkida darbā labāk nekā citos tā laikā vēsturiskajos darbos atspoguļojas franku, jeb
krustnešu tēls, kurš joprojām ieņem svarīgu lomu arābu sabiedrībā, īpaši mūsdienās notiekošajos
konfliktos Tuvojos Austrumos kā pretnostatījums vietējiem iedzīvotājiem .
„Vēstījumu grāmata”, kuru autors uzrakstījis deviņdesmit trīs gadu vecumā, joprojām
tiek uzskatīta vēsturniekiem par vienu no vissvarīgākajiem vēsturiskajiem dokumentiem, jo satur
sevī unikālu vēsturisku un kultūrvēsturisku informāciju par krusta karu laikiem („Vēstījumu
grāmatā” tika aprakstīti notikumi Pirmā, Otrā un Trešā krusta karu laikā) un dod lasītajam
lielisku iespēju iegūt patiesu priekšstatu no pirmavota par kristiešu un musulmaņu attiecībām
kaujās un ārpus tām.
Darba pamatmērķis ir izanalizēt krustneša tēlu, izmantojot fragmentus no Usamas al-
Munkida darbā „Vēstījumu grāmata”, kur autors ir dalījies savā pieredzē, kontaktējoties ar citas
kultūras un reliģijas pārstāvjiem.
Galvenais secinājums: kaut gan krustneši bija ienaidnieki, kuri iebruka Usamas al-
Munkida dzimtenē – Tuvajos Austrumos, autors ir spējis viņos saskatīt arī pozitīvas īpašības un
veic lielisku krustneša tēla raksturojumu.
Darbs sastāv no divām daļām. Pirmā daļa tiek veltīta grāmatas autora Usamas al-
Munkida biogrāfijai, viņa reliģiskiem uzskatiem, kā arī tiek apskatīti daži no viņa
nozīmīgākajiem darbiem. Otrā daļā tiek aprakstīti un analizēti fragmenti no Usamas al-Munkida
darba „Vēstījumu grāmata”, kuros ir atspoguļots krustnesis – franks dažādās dzīves situācijas.

The topic is not only important because it portrays the outlook on particular life events by a
particular historical person, but also because it reflects that person’s experience in cohabiting
with representatives of other cultures and his daily experiences in interacting with them.
Usama’s work provides a more precise reflection of the Franks – crusaders image than other
historical works of that time. The image still plays an important role in the Arab society,
especially in view of ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.
„The Book of Instruction,” written by the author at the age of 93, is still considered to be
one of the most important historical documents containing valuable historical and cultural
information on the times of the Crusades, and allows the reader to get an excellent impression of
Christian and Muslim relationships in and out of the battles.
The main objective of this work is to get acquainted with the image of the crusader, using
fragments from the Usama al-Munqidh’s “The Book of Instruction,” where the author shares his
experiences in dealing with the representatives of other cultures.
The most important conclusion is that despite the fact crusaders, who intruded Usama al-
Munqidh’s homeland – Middle East, were considered enemies, the author could still find
positive traits in them.
The thesis consists of two parts. The first part is devoted to Usama al-Munqidh’s
biography, his religious views and reviews some of his most important works. The second part
describes and comments on fragments from Usama’s “The Book of Instruction,” which portray
the Frank – crusader in various life situations.

Information Extraction Based on the Analysis of Motor Supply and Structural Vibration for Machinery Condition Monitoring
Reciprocating compressors (RC) are one of the most widely used industrial machines due to their flexibility and reliability. Commonly exposed to harsh working environments, compressors experience various faults that affect their operational performance and functionality. Unfortunately, conventional condition monitoring methods such as vibration monitoring shows inefficiency sometimes in detecting multi-faults that occur in RCs even thoigh it needs a high-cost system for monitoring equipment.
The AC motor driving the RC undertakes an oscillating torque which induces additional components in the measured current signals and changes with the presence of faults in either compressor or motor with consequent. Extensive investigations have shown that motor current signature analysis (MCSA) has the potential to be an accurate and cost-effective technique for the detection and diagnosis of common RC faults (i.e discharge valve leakage, intercooler leakage, broken rotor bars, stator winding asymmetry, and discharge valve leakage combined with stator winding asymmetry). However, a full study has not been found to consolidate this deduction. This research has adopted a model based simulation and experimental evaluation to verify and detail the use of MSCA for monitoring compressors under a wide range of load and fault conditions.
The study firstly develops an extended and comprehensive dynamic model of the compressor, which links the various effects including mechanical dynamics, electrodynamics and fluid dynamics and, thus allows the current signature variations, particularly the sideband patterns to be simulated, and studied under common faults and their combinations at different severity. The model was validated against measured current signatures. Moreover, an advanced and effective technique, modulation signal bispectrum (MSB) has been identified to be the accurate tool as it can accurately extract the effect of sidebands and suppresses inevitable noise influences.
Subsequently, a number of experiments were carried out based on a general purpose two-cylinder RC. Experimental results have shown that the seeded compressor faults caused observable changes in the motor current signature, inducing non-linear and modulation characteristics into the measured signal. The above-cited compressor faults generate different patterns and varying load on the motor, thereby inducing changes in modulation features in the current signal. Especially for the combined fault, an increase in sidebands can be observed by MSB analysis due to its high performance of noise reduction and nonlinear feature extraction.
The MSB results in primary diagnostic features; sideband peaks at the first and second orders of compressor operating frequency has the ability to differentiate RC fault cases over a wide range of operating conditions, which allowed fault diagnosis without the need for additional measurements such as pressure, speed, or temperature. The successful detection and diagnosis of common compressor and motor faults through experiments and model developments confirm the capability of MSB based MCSA method.
With the successful diagnosis of RC and motor faults, this research study is progressed to validate the capability of MSB based methods to diagnose different common compressor faults relating to compressor leakages, motor faults, and combined fault. The results show that MSB signatures allow accurate differentiation between normal condition and abnormal change induced by these seeded faults compared to conventional analysis, confirming the effeciancy of the signal processing technique proposed in this thesis
Sustainable Development of the Nile River at Greater Khartoum
Sudan is the largest country in Africa, but there is poverty and a lack of infrastructure, skills and opportunity despite its substantial natural resources. The capital of Sudan is Khartoum City,
located at the confluence of the Blue and White Nile Rivers. Unfortunately development on Nile
River Front is limited due to the risk of flooding and erosion. There is a danger that rapid
economic development may take place in this unique area without sustainable development
planning. This research project aims to develop strategies to protect the Nile River banks by
suitable stabilization methods so that development can take place safely.
Data has been collected about hydrology, morphology, geotechnical factors, soil classifications, river pattern systems, driving forces, and the main problems restricting sustainable development and engineering works for the Nile River. In addition the following have been reviewed: historical background, existing land uses, current environmental situations, and the economic and social conditions of the study areas. Research identified Cairo, Egypt as a similar case study, where data collected by the author included historical background, current situations, strategic visions and development plan for Nile River Shores. Further information was collected about sustainable development from a general literature review.
From these collected data a set of guidelines and indicators for sustainable development was
established related to environmental, economic and social factors. Based on those guidelines and
indicators, methods of stabilization of the banks for each shore were specified and a proposed
development plan was established. Methods of stabilization of banks and the development plan
were refined and evaluated to establish a final version of the development plan: Sustainable
Development of the Nile River Front (SDNRF) at Greater Khartoum. From refinement and evaluations, barriers and constraints for implementation were specified with their suggested
solutions. Finally, conclusions and recommendations related to the SDNRF Manual about
development and regulations were established
Violence and Political Change in Saudi Arabia
Few societies are more identified with Islamist armed violence than Saudi Arabia—country of origin of Usama bin Laden and 15 of the 9/11 hijackers, as well as more than a thousand insurgents in Iraq, and itself the site of attacks on expatriate housing compounds. The author draws on discussions with Saudi activists and intellectuals to reflect on ambivalent public and elite attitudes toward this violence. The author’s interlocutors attribute this “neutrality” to the accommodating relationship between a repressive state and an intolerant religious establishment, and argue that only a vibrant civil society can combat such violence
Airborne Acoustic Signature Analysis for Fault Diagnosis of Reciprocating Compressors Using Modulation Signal Bi-spectrum
Reciprocating compressors are the most important part of a petrochemical industry. In order to monitor the conditions of this complex machine, a remote fault diagnosis technique based on airborne acoustic signature analysis has been proposed. However, as there are many rotating and reciprocating components involved, extracting the characteristic features from the non-stationary and non-linear acoustic signals resulted by those machine components are very difficult. The presence of structural or acoustic resonance may further contribute to the signal modulation which makes the acoustic signal of the compressor very complex. In this paper, the modulation signal bi-spectrum method has been applied to the compressor sound signals with the capabilities of suppressing random noise, demodulating non-modulation components, and estimating modulation degrees. It allows an in depth representation of the non-linear effects of the modulation signals due to the repetitive valve impacts, airflow fluctuations, resonance phenomenon, and thereby providing a more accurate diagnosing feature to identify the root cause of the faults. The experimental study examines various kind of reciprocating compressor (RC) faults including intercooler leakage, discharge valve leakage and filter blockage. The analysis results show the effectiveness of the proposed method in diagnosis of these faults based on the airborne acoustic signature analysis.</p
Diagnosis of Compound Faults in Reciprocating Compressors Based on Modulation Signal Bispectrum of Current Signals
This paper studies induction motor current signatures to detect and di-agnose faults of a two-stage reciprocating compressor (RC) which creates a varying load to the motor. It also examines the influences of stator winding faults on differ-ent common faults of the compressor. Both the conventional spectrum analysis and the state of the art modulation signal bispectrum (MSB) analysis are used to process the current signals for attaining an accurate characterisation of the modulation in-duced by the variable loads and thereby developing reliable diagnostic features. The experimental studies examine different RC faults including valve leakage, inter-cooler leakage, stator asymmetries and their compounds. The results demonstrated that the MSB has a better performance in differentiating spectrum amplitudes caused by different faults especially the compound fault. Thus the MSB based fea-tures are demonstrated to be more reliable and accurate as the analysis techniques for motor current based diagnostics
Monitoring Mis-Operating Conditions of Journal Bearings based on Modulation Signal Bispectrum Analysis of Vibration Signals

abstract: Since the advent of the internet and even more after social media platforms, the explosive growth of textual data and its availability has made analysis a tedious task. Information extraction systems are available but are generally too specific and often only extract certain kinds of information they deem necessary and extraction worthy. Using data visualization theory and fast, interactive querying methods, leaving out information might not really be necessary. This thesis explores textual data visualization techniques, intuitive querying, and a novel approach to all-purpose textual information extraction to encode large text corpus to improve human understanding of the information present in textual data.
This thesis presents a modified traversal algorithm on dependency parse output of text to extract all subject predicate object pairs from text while ensuring that no information is missed out. To support full scale, all-purpose information extraction from large text corpuses, a data preprocessing pipeline is recommended to be used before the extraction is run. The output format is designed specifically to fit on a node-edge-node model and form the building blocks of a network which makes understanding of the text and querying of information from corpus quick and intuitive.
