In this article, we try to understand the reality of pedagogical continuity among teachers at Biskra university in the context of confinement caused by the coronavirus. In order to explore teachers’ perceptions, we asked them to answer an online questionnaire. First of all, teachers are less satisfied, particularly with regard to the experience of pedagogical continuity. The analysis of teachers’ statements reveals interesting results concerning the distancing of teaching situations both in terms of interactions and teaching materials made avaible to students. Technical, pedagogical, socio-emotional and organizational barriers were also reported. Finally, the gain in digital skills and student autonomy are the main enrichments of confinement. We hope that the results of our research could be taken into consideration in order to improve the quality of pedagogical continuity and distance learning, especially in a pandemic context

This article examines the genericevolution of Ahmed Bencherif’swork, characterized by the transition from the historicalnovel to the documentaryessay, as a key factor in the renewal of contemporary Algerian literature. Drawing on a corpus composed of an in-depth interview and a biographicaltext, the studyadopts a qualitative and hermeneuticapproachthat combines genericanalysis, sociocritical perspectives, and discourseanalysis. The findingsdemonstratethatthisgenerichybridizationconstitutes a literary and epistemicstrategyaimed at articulating narrative sensibilitywithscholarlylegitimacy. While the historicalnovel enables the re-embodiment of marginalized or silencedhistoricalevents, the documentaryessay, grounded in archivalresearch, provideshistoriographical and argumentative authority. This dynamicalignswith a postcolonial logic of narrative correction, serving the defense of Algerian identitywhilesimultaneouslyopening the work to a universal horizon. The studythus highlights Bencherif’s contribution to the reconfiguration of the relationshipsbetweenhistory, memory, and literature in contemporary Algerian writing. The Use of the Flipped Classroom for Teaching French as a Foreign Language: Reality and Perspectives

    No full text
This article aims to explore feedback on the use of the flipped classroom approach in French as a Foreign Language (FFL) classes, with the dual objective of analyzing its current reality and envisioning its future prospects. By providing an overview of its pedagogical impact, the study also seeks to offer practical recommendations for teachers interested in implementing this method. The research is based on semi-structured individual interviews conducted with three university instructors who have integrated flipped classroom strategies into their teaching. Specifically, the feedback derives from the implementation of three distinct courses, each structured around the use of the Moodle platform and pre-recorded instructional videos, designed to engage university-level learners in an active and autonomous learning process. The qualitative analysis of the collected data reveals an important number of pedagogical benefits, including increased learner engagement, improved oral interaction in class, and greater flexibility in pacing. However, several limitations and challenges were also identified, such as technological constraints, resistance from both students and teachers, and the additional workload required for lesson preparation and content creation. The article discusses possible solutions to address these challenges, such as better institutional support, teacher training, and the gradual integration of digital tools. In addition to examining present-day practices, the article also opens a reflection on the future of the flipped classroom in FFL, taking into account evolving technologies and innovative teaching methods. By sharing these diverse experiences, the study contributes to a wider pedagogical discourse on how to improve language acquisition through reimagined classroom dynamics

    No full text
This research aims to test the perspective of Algerian students on distance learning in the era of the pandemic caused by the Corona virus. It aims to measure the satisfaction levels of these students and identify the difficulties encountered in order to make the necessary adjustments and / or improvements. It is based on the statistical analysis of a survey by an online questionnaire among 50 students enrolled at the University of Biskra. The results obtained show that the technical and environmental conditions of the training are not very favorable. They also highlight disparate levels of satisfaction, particularly with regard to the pedagogical quality of teaching and support for teachers, and trace the difficulties encountered by students during training. On the basis of the observations, a few recommendations were recommended which were considered important to improve training

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
