No full textLe travail que nous avons réalisé est une contribution à l\u27adaptation des hyperdocuments, nous nous intéressons plus particulièrement à l\u27adaptation de la présentation des hyperdocuments au profil cognitif de l\u27utilisateur. Nous avons conçu et développé EDPHA (un environnement de Développement et de Présentation des Hyperdocuments Adaptatifs). Cet environnement est basé sur un modèle cognitif des utilisateurs, un modèle de document, un processus d\u27adaptativité et un processus de formatage. Le but du processus d\u27adaptativité est d\u27adapter à la volée l\u27hyperdocument au modèle cognitif de l\u27utilisateur en calculant la combinaison multimédia sui soit la plus compatible au profil cognitif de l\u27utilisateur. Le processus de formatage s\u27intéresse à la mise en page des contenus de l\u27hyperdocument adapté. Une expérimentation a été menée pour valider notre approche, nous avons obtenu des résultats satisfaisants. Ces résultats doivent être confirmés à travers d\u27autres expérimentations à plus grande échelle

The aim of this environment is to adapt hyper-document presentation to the cognitive user profile. The architecture of this environment is based on four main components: a cognitive user model, a hyper-document generation process, an adaptive process and a generic style sheet. These components and their combinations are described in detail. To validate our approach, an experimental study was conducted upon a population of 50 students. The experimental steps and the main results obtained are discussed in this paper

The paper describes in detail the way these components are combined; it presents the adaptive process. During this process, the combination of medias that best fits the cognitive profile of each user is selected. This technique is applied on a hypermedia course called "Saga du Cerveau"

AnAmeter: The First Steps to Evaluating Adaptation

The provided information is then processed to obtain a quantitative evaluation of three parameters called global, semi-global and local adaptation degrees. By characterizing and quantifying adaptation, AnAmeter provides the first steps towards the evaluation of the quality of a system's adaptation. AnAmeter is an open tool available as freeware on the web and has been applied to a selection of well known systems. To build this evaluation grid we also collected a number of systems that cover the full range of adaptation types

We have developed EDPHA : an environment to build and to present adaptative hyperdocument presentation. This environment is based on four components : a cognitive user model, a hyper-document generation process, an adaptative process and a generic style sheet to present the adapted hyperdocuments. We view presentation adaptation as a process of selection of the most suitable combination of interactive elements. The best combination is the one that fits most the user cognitive abilities. All components of EDPHA have been implemented and the environment has been experimental in order to validate the approach. The results of the experiment show that adaptative presentation of hyper-documents can contribute to the improvement of the performance of users during the hyperdocument exploration. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
