    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat keberhasilan pengajaran Fisikaberdasarkan pemberian tes essay dalam pelaksanaan ujian harian secara Open Bookdengan membuat ringkasan rumus-rumus penting dalam selembar kertas. Penelitiandilakukan dengan pemberian ujian harian berupa tes essay pada pembelajaran Fisikamengenai Bab Gerak dan Gaya. Perlakuan yang diberikan berupa teknik pelaksanaanOpen Book pada saat ujian harian yaitu mahasiswa diminta untuk membuat ringkasanrumus-rumus penting Fisika dalam selembar kertas. Sebagai kontrol, mahasiswadiminta mengerjakan kembali soal-soal ujian dengan membuka semua bahanperkuliahan berupa buku, handout, dan akses internet. Data yang diperoleh dari keduakelompok, yaitu kelompok perlakuan teknik Open Book dan kelompok kontrol,selanjutnya dianalisis secara statistik berdasarkan uji-t berpasangan (paired-samples ttest)dengan Program SPSS 15.0 untuk membandingkan nilai rata-rata dari masingmasing kelompok perlakuan.Namun, apabila data tidak terdistribusi normal maka uji-t berpasangan diganti dengan uji Wilcoxon. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa padapelaksanaan ujian harian berupa tes esai secara Open Book dengan membuat ringkasan rumus-rumus penting Fisika dalam selembar kertas sebesar, diperoleh nilai rata-ratasebesar 41,67 (skala 100), lebih rendah dibanding secara Open Book dengan membukabahan perkuliahan (buku, handout, akses internet) yaitu sebesar 48,26. Nilai signifikansiantara pelaksanaan ujian secara Open Book dengan membuat ringkasan rumus-rumuspenting Fisika dalam selembar kertas, dan dengan membuka bahan perkuliahan (buku,handout, akses internet) lebih besar dari 0,05, yaitu sebesar 0,359, artinya tidak terdapatperbedaan antar kelompok perlakuan. Dari hasil ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa tidak adapengaruh teknik Open Book dengan membuat ringkasan rumus-rumus penting dalamselembar kertas terhadap pembelajaran Fisika yang dilakukan. Dengan demikian,pelaksanaan ujian harian berupa tes esai secara Open Book dengan membuat ringkasanrumus-rumus penting pada selembar kertas sudah cukup efektif digunakan sebagaimetode/alat evaluasi pembelajaran Fisika

    Sawi hijau (Brassica juncea [L.] Czern.) merupakan salah satu jenis sayuran yang bernilai ekonomi tinggi dan terkenal di Indonesia. Tanaman ini memiliki kandungan senyawa nutrisi, di antaranya kalori, protein, vitamin, dan mineral. Selain itu, sawi hijau memiliki manfaat bagi kesehatan, seperti menurunkan risiko penyakit kanker. Penggunaan fitohormon alami dari tumbuhan, seperti bawang merah, terbukti mampu meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan produksi pada berbagai jenis tanaman. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak umbi bawang merah terhadap pertumbuhan sawi hijau serta menentukan konsentrasi ekstrak umbi bawang merah yang optimal meningkatkan pertumbuhan sawi hijau. Pada penelitian ini digunakan metode eksperimental dengan desain penelitian berupa rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan lima perlakuan dan empat ulangan. Taraf konsentrasi ekstrak umbi bawang merah yang digunakan terdiri dari 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, dan 40%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan di antara kelima kelompok perlakuan ekstrak umbi bawang merah terhadap berbagai parameter pertumbuhan sawi hijau. Ekstrak umbi bawang merah pada konsentrasi 40% mampu meningkatkan pertumbuhan tanaman sawi hijau, seperti panjang daun, tinggi tanaman, lebar daun, dan bobot basah tanaman

    Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara yang memiliki keanekaragaman hayati yang sangat melimpah, baik flora maupun fauna. Salah satu keanekaragaman hayati flora yang sering ditemukan adalah tumbuhan lumut. Lumut merupakan tumbuhan yang hidup di daerah lembap, berukuran kecil, dan tumbuh menempel pada substrat, seperti bebatuan, kayu, dan pepohonan. Salah satu daerah persebaran lumut diantaranya terdapat di kawasan Hutan Kota Serang, Banten. Lumut yang dapat ditemukan di daerah tersebut, diantaranya Ceratodon purpureus dan Leucobryum albidum dari kelas Bryopsida. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi karakter morfologi C. purpureus dan L. albidum yang terdapat di kawasan Hutan Kota Serang, Banten. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Januari 2021 dengan metode eksplorasi, adapun teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan berupa purposive sampling. Identifikasi karakter morfologi spesimen dilakukan di laboratorium, kemudian sampel dideskripsikan berdasarkan ciri-ciri morfologi yang diamati. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa morfologi C. purpureus terdiri dari rizoid, batang, tangkai (seta) yang tegak disertai kapsul pada ujungnya, dan daun berwarna hijau karena mengandung klorofil. Adapun morfologi L. albidum terdiri dari rizoid, batang, seta yang panjang dan berwarna merah-kecokelatan dengan disertai kapsul pada ujungnya, serta daun berwarna hijau dengan ujung meruncing

    Molecular Markers Application for Blast Resistance Selection on the Double Haploid Rice Population

    Blast disease, caused by fungal Pyricularia grisea Sacc., is one of the most devastating diseases in rice. The use of blast-resistant rice varieties is one of the most efficient ways to control blast disease in rice. Blast-resistant varieties can be produced through breeding. The use of marker-assisted selection (MAS) available to support selection of resistant lines based on resistance gene. The objective of this research was to compare the resistance response of the double haploid lines with the differential varieties to three selected Indonesian blast races and to identify the resistance genes caused the resistance to blast based on the resistance response and the genotype evaluation using molecular markers. Forty-nine double haploid lines from a double crossing IR54/Parekaligolara//Bio110/Markuti were selected using molecular markers based on the targeted genes Pib, Pi1, Pi2, Pi9, Pi33, Pir4, and Pir7. To compare the phenotype selection, ten LTH monogenic lines of differential varieties were used. All plants tested were inoculated by three selected Indonesian blast races. The results show that the Pib gene caused a resistance to race 123, while the Pi1 and Pir7 genes caused a resistance to race 123 and 133. The Pi2, Pi9, Pi33, and Pir4 genes did not cause a resistance to race 123, 133, or 173

    Effect of growing media on the growth of stevia (Stevia rebaudiana (Bertoni) Bertoni) tip cuttings

    Stevia is 200-300 times sweeter than sucrose but low in calories, making it a safe alternative for individuals with diabetes or obesity. The utilization of stevia has the potential to reduce reliance on sugar imports. This research aimed to investigate the influence of different growing media on the growth of stevia tip cuttings. This study was conducted from August to December 2023 in Cidokom Village, Cisarua District, Bogor Regency, West Java. The method used was experimental research using a completely randomized design (CRD) with a single factor, which was the composition of the growing media. Six types of growing media were used. The research results showed significant differences among the treatment groups of growing media on various growth parameters of stevia tip cuttings. Stevia tip cuttings planted in soil and manure media showed the best results in cutting height (28.8 ± 2.82 cm) 42 days after planting. Meanwhile, the combination of solid waste agar, sand, mycorrhiza, burnt rice husks, and cocopeat media resulted in the highest number of leaves (22.20 ± 3.20 leaves) and total fresh weight of stevia tip cuttings, around 1.98 ± 0.33 g at 42 days after planting.     Volatile compounds, texture, and color characterization of meatballs made from beef, rat, wild boar, and their mixtures

    The purpose of this research was to characterize the volatile compounds, texture, and color profile of meatballs made from beef, rat, wild boar, and their combinations. Volatile compounds were analyzed using SPME/GC-MS and multivariate data analysis (PCA, PLS-DA). Additionally, several textural features such as hardness, gumminess, chewiness, cohesiveness, and colour (L, a∗, b∗, C, and h) were also analyzed. The findings revealed that texture and color characteristics can only be used to differentiate meatballs based on their raw meat materials when meat adulterants are used in high concentrations (≥50). PLS-DA analysis of volatile data revealed distinct groupings among various types of meatballs, including meatballs adulterated with rat or wild boar meat at the lowest percentage used in this study (20). By using VIP and correlation coefficient, the strongest markers in beef, rat, and wild boar meatballs were identified as (Z)-2-amino-5-methyl-benzoic acid, 2-heptenal, and cyclobutanol, respectively. Nonanal was consistently found as a significant marker in the meatballs made from a mixture of beef-rat and beef-wild boar at different ratios. This study demonstrated that the volatile profile of meat is more reliable than physicochemical profiles for developing an analytical tool for quickly identifying undesired meat in meat-derived products. © 2022 The Author(s
