L'ensemble des résultats invite à proposer un dispositif pédagogique en faveur de la pluridisciplinarité de l'enseignement à l'écoleMemory processes implied in the recall of sequences of informations must be distinguished from those required to memorize informations pers e. We applied this distinction to the memory of motor sequences. Indeed to motor tasks appeal to memory of order when several actions have to be produced following a given sequence. Moreover is motor production not only concerned with body movements but also with speech production. Thus can we hypothesize that training an individual in memorizing and producing motor sequences has positive effects on its own capacities of language memory and production, language being sequential by nature. The present thesis examines the transfer of motor sequential production capacities to language sequential production ones : the probable relative independence of memory-of-order's processes is at the core of our working hypothesis. Three training studies have been realized in schools, with children aged 7 to 8 years. The first evaluates the possibility of re-investing a sequential motor training in the production of language. The second one focuses on the consequences of training different formats of representation, on memory of order. The third study raises the question of potential positive effects of strategy awareness when being trained in memory of order. Overall, practice-oriented training in children, based on the production of motor sequences, revealed to be beneficial to memory of sequences in other areas. Results suggest some possible pedagogical refinements in school, including multidisciplinary in educational setting

Motivation and well-being of people suffering from Alzheimer's disease : study of the effect of stimulating activities proposed in institution

In institutions, several types of activities are offered to patients affected by Alzheimer's disease. As many studies suggest, it seems thet these activities generate positive effects on patients' well-being, and cognitive and social performance. In the area of health and ageing, various works have demonstrated the importance of motivational factors in the efficiency of the treatment of persons and their well-being. From the point of view of the self-determination theory (Deci & Ryan, 2000), it appears that the existence of a self-determined motivation for the treatment, as well as perceptions of competence, self-determination and social belonging during treatment, all contribute to a successful therapy. This is how three studies were introduced in homes for the elderly. The first study examined various types of activities and their frequency. The second one investigated into the implementation of stimulating sessions of activities, in addition to the traditional treatment. Finally, the last study analysed the Snoezelen environment. The purpose of these various studies was to work over the effects of activities offered to persons suffering from Alzheimer's disease for their well-being, and on the function of motivation and support during such activities. Our finding have shown the impact of certain forms of self-determination, as well as support for autonomy, competence and social belonging during activities, on the benefits of the care provided. Conversely, it appears that there is a connection between the least self-determination forms of motivation and negative effects on people's well-being

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Orientation chosen, imposed and academic motivation : a self-determination theory perspective

The objective of this thesis is to develop a better understanding of the phenomenon of chosen or imposed academic pathway and its consequences on adolescents’ academic motivation. Our research are in line with the self-determination theory (Deci & Ryan, 2002). This perspective seems relevant to investigate the notions of choice and constraint in the field of educational and vocational guidance and the factors influencing these choices. Effectively, one of the fundamental concepts of this theory is the need of self-determination defined by a sense of freedom and a sense of choice experienced in the initiating activities.First, the two first studies’ aim was to analyze academic motivation of high school students. The adolescents were enrolled in different courses: general, technological and professional. The choice of an academic pathway is influenced or even constrained by many factors: the student thus feels forced to take part in an academic pathway that is not his or her initial choice. Our interest focuses on parents and teachers’ influence and sense of freedom in academic decision-making process. In the third study, the purpose was to determine the contribution of these variables in subsequent academic motivation. These results led us in studies 4 and 5 to develop a new questionnaire evaluating perceptions of self-determination and influence in academic decision-making.These research invite career counseling professionals and professors to thinking in terms of motivational prevention and remediation. Autonomy support in the fields of vocational guidance and education is considered as a crucial determinant of academic motivation

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

En revanche, cette étude n’a pas montré d’effet significatif de l’environnement soutenant l’autonomie (proposant la liberté de choix) sur le BEP.This doctoral work is part of the context of aging and in an intercultural perspective. With a view to accompanying elderly people according to their culture, its purpose is to contribute to a better understanding of the determinants of psychological well-being (PWB), in the Chinese and French cultural contexts. Two studies have been conducted with populations from Chinese culture and French culture, the first soliciting elderly people living at home and the second elderly living in institutions. The first study focuses on the contribution of subjective age and basic psychological needs satisfaction to PWB within the framework of self-determination theory (SDT). The second reports the effects of an autonomy-supportive environment on the PWB of elderly people living in institutions, in China and France. The results of the first study firstly confirmed the relevance of SDT for Chinese culture in the field of aging. In coherence with the SDT and previous studies, it confirmed the contribution of subjective age and basic psychological needs satisfaction to PWB of the elderly.Consistent with SDT, the results of our second study showed a positive association between the basic psychological needs satisfaction during a leisure activity and the PWB of the elderly living in institutions, in China and France. In contrast, this study did not show significant effect of the autonomy-supportive environment (proposing freedom of choice) on the PWB

According to Self-Determination Theory (SDT; Deci & Ryan, 1985, 2002), this study examined the psychological well-being in later life with eudaimonic perspective. In particular, the relation between motivational profiles and older people’s psychological well-being was investigated. A cluster analysis revealed three motivational profiles among participants: (1) moderate levels of both autonomous, controlled motivation and amotivation (Moderate motivation profile), (2) high levels of autonomous and controlled motivation with low levels amotivation (High-High motivation profile), (3) high levels of autonomous motivation, low levels of controlled motivation and amotivation (High-Low motivation profile or Autonomous motivation group). Study results revealed that older people in autonomous motivation group and high levels of autonomous and controlled motivations group reported the highest degree of psychological well-being. In light of self-determination theory, results add a better comprehension of psychological well-being in later life
