SEXUAL ORIENTATION ATTRIBUTIONS АND CONVENTIONAL PRE-EXISTING VALUES IN THE CONTEXT OF SEXUAL MINORITIES’ RIGHTS
Attributions concerning the origins of sexual orientation are acknowledged as significant predictors of attitudes toward sexual minorities. Sexual prejudice and opposition to same-gender couple’s rights are strongly linked with support of traditional values. The current study aimed to test that attributions for sexual orientation are significantly associated with opposition to same-gender adoption rights. Secondly, this study examined if participants’ specific attitudinal characteristics reflecting support of traditional values (e.g., religiosity, political positioning) are strong predictors of sexual orientation attribution beliefs supporting the concept that attributions for sexual orientation may stem from pre-existing conventional beliefs. This exploratory, cross-sectional study was conducted from October 8 until December 20, 2020, via an online survey. A total of 119 respondents aged 18 to 48 years (Mage = 24.31; SDage = 8.36) participated in the study. Bivariate correlations were generated to explore the associations among variables of interest. Multiple regression analysis was performed to predict the influences of all variables of interest on etiological beliefs about sexual orientation. This study’s findings suggest that attitudes toward sexual minorities' rights tend to be more negative when their sexual orientation is believed to be controllable and that sexual orientation attributions conform to pre-existing context-specific conventional socio-cultural values and norms
Greek early childhood educators’ knowledge of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder
As more children enter preschool programs, there is an increasing need for early education professionals to recognize and understand Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). This study examined 120 Greek early childhood educators’ knowledge of ADHD using a Greek self-report ADHD Knowledge Questionnaire (ADHD-KQ). All participants worked in infant/child centers operated by municipalities in Greece. Results point out early childhood educators’ lack of fundamental knowledge about the causes, symptoms/diagnosis, cognitive deficits, and interventions regarding ADHD. Among the personal and professional variables (years of teaching experience, age, and educational level) studied as predictors of overall knowledge about ADHD age was found as the only significant. Older participants seemed to have better knowledge regarding the basic aspects of ADHD. Results suggest greater efforts must be made to provide training specifically in the management of children with ADHD
Relations Between Authoritarianism, Just World Beliefs, and the Dark Triad Life Philosophy
This study examines whether latent biases about the world as a dangerous place lead to antisocial tendencies, suggesting that dark personality traits are not necessarily evil but condition-dependent solutions to analogous worldview perceptions. The application of this model indicates that the extent to which an individual exhibits dark personality traits is determined, in part, by their level of authoritarian ideology (i.e., high in RWA) and the extent to which personal beliefs in a just world moderate this relationship. A convenience non-probability sample of 211 participants (age range: 19–59 years, M_age = 32.76, SD = 11.87; 191 female participants) participated in the current online study. Moderation analysis was performed to assess if the influence of authoritarian ideology (RWA) on Dark Triad life philosophy is the same across different levels of personal beliefs in a just world. This study’s results provide evidence of the moderating influence of Personal Belief in a Just World such that the positive relationship between RWA and Machiavellianism was weakened among those with lower levels of Personal Belief in a Just World. Individual differences in Personal Belief in a Just World and authoritarian ideology (RWA) influence the Machiavellianism side of human nature
Gender differences among educators’ perceptions of childhood aggression
This study aimed to acquire a better understanding of the personal and contextual characteristics that could affect educators’ reports and perceptions of student-to-student bullying behaviors. This study included two hundred and eighteen early childhood educators working in daycare centers for children from 2-and-a-half to 4- 5 years old in Greece. Preschool Peer Bullying Scale-Teacher Form (PPBS-TF) questionnaire was used to examine educators’ reported student-to-student bullying experiences in Greek childcare centers. This study’s results concerning student-tostudent bullying involvement indicate that there were gender differences in the participants’ perceptions of bullying behaviors. This information could be useful in understanding better this phenomenon and its relation to gender

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
From one country to another: adversities and beneficial adaptation. Experiences of refugee children
The purpose of the present study was to investigate the adversities encountered by refugee children and the factors promoting healthy adaptation (protective factors- resilience) to new living circumstances. Understanding the experience of each individual refugee is particularly important for policy making (not only for health concerns) in the context of displacement. A qualitative methodology was used. Fifteen (15) students (seven girls and eight boys) who followed an integration program at a Greek primary school in a region of central Macedonia participated. Their ages ranged from 6 to 12 years. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and processed with Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The systematic analysis of the narratives resulted in 3 central themes and their sub-themes, which lead to a meaningful experience of the children involved. Overall, the analysis of the data highlighted the fact that moving to a new country made the children of this research subject to intense experiences against which their personal potential played an important role
