    Positivity properties for q-Schur algebras.

    Get PDF
We prove Du's positivity conjecture for the canonical basis of the q-Schur algebra, using elementary arguments and the positivity result for Lusztig's canonical basis for U+q(sln). We also describe a family of subalgebras of the q-Schur algebra, each of which is spanned by the canonical basis elements it contains

    Electro-optically Q-switched operation of a high-peak-power Tb:LiYF4 green laser

    Get PDF
We report on an electro-optically Q-switched Tb:LiYF4 green laser pumped by a frequency-doubled optically pumped semiconductor blue laser. The electro-optically Q-switched characteristics were studied under a wide range of repetition rates from 200 Hz to 50 kHz using a KD2PO4 Q-switch. Up to 198 µJ of pulse energy was obtained with a pulse width of 248 ns at a repetition rate of 200 Hz, corresponding to a peak power of 797 W at 544 nm.journal articl

q-Differential equations for q-classical polynomials and q-Jacobi-Stirling numbers

We introduce, characterise and provide a combinatorial interpretation for the so-called q-Jacobi–Stirling numbers. This study is motivated by their key role in the (reciprocal) expansion of any power of a second order q-differential operator having the q-classical polynomials as eigenfunctions in terms of other even order operators, which we explicitly construct in this work. The results here obtained can be viewed as the q-version of those given by Everitt et al. and by the first author, whilst the combinatorics of this new set of numbers is a q-version of the Jacobi–Stirling numbers given by Gelineau and the second author

High electrical-to-green efficiency high stability intracavity-frequency-doubled Nd:YAG-LBO QCW 532 nm laser with a straight cavity

An electrical-to-green efficiency of more than 10% was demonstrated by intracavity-frequency-doubling a Q-switched diode-side-pumped Nd:YAG laser with a type II lithium triborate (LBO) crystal in a straight plano-concave cavity. An average power of 69.2 W at 532 nm was generated when electrical input power was 666 W. The corresponding electrical-to-green conversion efficiency is 10.4%. To the best of our knowledge, this is the highest electrical-to-green efficiency of second harmonic generation laser systems with side-pumped laser modules, ever reported. At about 66 W of green output power, the power fluctuation over 4 hours was better than +/-0.86%

qq-analogues of two supercongruences of Z.-W. Sun

summary:We give several different qq-analogues of the following two congruences of \hbox {Z.-W. Sun}: k=0(pr1)/218k(2kk)(2pr)(modp2)andk=0(pr1)/2116k(2kk)(3pr)(modp2), \sum _{k=0}^{(p^{r}-1)/2}\frac {1}{8^k}{2k\choose k} \equiv \Bigl (\frac {2}{p^r}\Bigr )\pmod {p^2}\quad \text {and}\quad \sum _{k=0}^{(p^{r}-1)/2}\frac {1}{16^k}{2k\choose k}\equiv \Bigl (\frac {3}{p^r}\Bigr )\pmod {p^2}, where pp is an odd prime, rr is a positive integer, and (mn)(\frac mn) is the Jacobi symbol. The proofs of them require the use of some curious qq-series identities, two of which are related to Franklin's involution on partitions into distinct parts. We also confirm a conjecture of the latter author and Zeng in 2012

DISCRETE q-GREEN POTENTIALS WITH FINITE ENERGY

Discrete q-Green potentials related to the equation Δuqu = 0 on an innite network were studied in [12] as a discrete analogue to [9]. We study some properties of q-Green potentials with nite q-Green energy. The q-Dirichlet energy plays an important role instead of the Dirichlet sum. Our aim is to show that results obtained in [7] in case q = 0 hold similarly even in case q 0. We show that every q-Dirichlet potential can be expressed as a difference of two q-Green potentials with nite q-Green energy

    Tobin's Q and Financial Policy

    Get PDF
Recent research in macroeconomics has emphasized the importance of linking the financial and real sectors and the need for working with optimizing models. Tobin’s Q model of investment would appear to provide a framework that can satisfy these two criteria. In contrast to the original presentation of the Q model, the formal development has not recognized that the firm actively participates in a number of financial markets; in this broader context, we show that Q is likely to be an uninformative and possibly misleading signal for investment expenditures . We then endeavor to turn this negative theoretical result to positive advantage in resolving a number of empirical problems with Q models, but the modifications dictated by the theory receive little support from the data.

A 20.1 W Solid-State Laser Pumped by 887 nm with High Efficiency and TEM00 Mode

    No full text
High efficiency, TEM00 mode, high repetition rate laser pumped by 887 nm is reported. 20.1 W output laser emitting at 1064 nm is achieved in a 0.3 at % Nd-doped Nd:YVO4, which absorbs pumping light of 30.7 W at 887 nm. The opto-optic efficiency and the slope efficiency are 65.5 and 88.5%, respectively. The stable Q-switching operation worked well at 100 kHz and the beam quality is near diffraction-limit with M-2 factor measured as M-2 approximate to 1.2. And the pulse waveform is analyzed in this paper
