Full text linkTeori etika adalah ilmu yang menjelaskan arti baik dan buruk,
menerangkan apa yang seharusnya dilakukan oleh manusia, menyatakan tujuan
yang harus dituju oleh manusia didalam perbuatan mereka dan menunjukan jalan
untuk melakukan apa yang seharusnya diperbuat. Teori etika kehidupan adalah
sebagai sarana orientasi bagi usaha manusia untuk menjawab suatu pertanyaan
yang amat fundamental, bagaimana saya harus hidup, dalam situasi ini etika
membantu untuk mencari orientasi manusia, agar tujuan hidup tidak dengan cara
ikut-ikutan saja terhadap berbagai pihak yang menetapkan bagaimana manusia
harus hidup, melainkan agar manusia dapat mengerti mengapa harus bersipak baik
dan buruk. Etika Islam adalah suatu kajian yang berkaitan dengan bagaimana
seorang atau sekelompok orang mesti berbuat baik dan memliki tujuan yang
bernilai dan pembenaran dasar-dasar yang menjadi suatu keputusan etika yang
disebut baik atau tidak baik.
Penelitian ini merupakan kepustakaan (Library research), penulis
melakukan pengumpulan sumber data, baik berupa buku, catatan, maupun laporan
hasil penelitian dari peneliti terdahulu. Dalam metode penelitian ini penulis dapat
golongkan kedalam penelitian Holistika, Verstehen, dimana metode ini yaitu khas
Filsafat.
Dalam penelitian ini penulis akan mengkaji mengenai teori etika
kehidupan. Adapun permasalahan yang akan dicari jawabannya dalam penelitian
ini adalah Bagaimanakah Teori Etika Kehidupan Gordon Graham, dan
Bagaimankah Teori Etika Kehidupan Gordon Graham dalam Perspektif Islam.
Dari penelitian ini ditumakan jawaban permasalahan yang sudah
dirumuskan bahwa Gordon Graham menilai perbuatan baik adalah kembali
kepada otoritas Tuhan. Jika Tuhan adalah pencipta dan Dia mencintai makhluk-
Nya, jika dia berkuasa dan baik, maka perintah-Nya pasti bisa memberikan
landasan nalar moral bagi tindakan manusia. Islam memandang etika kehidupan
Gordon Graham sesuai dengan etika Islam, karena dalam Islam yang menentukan
perbuatan, nilai perbuatan seseorang, tentang baik buruk bukan akal (filsafat) tapi
wahyu. Baik buruk perbuatan seseorang dalam Islam ditentukan oleh amal
solehnya, yaitu suatu perbuatan yang mendatangkan manfaat dinilai baik, yang
mendatangkan mudharat dinilai tidak baik. Dan teori etika senantiasa diadakan
untuk menjamin tercapainya sikap atau tingkah laku yang baik

Errors in social surveys
No full textThe central theme of this thesis is that knowledge is needed about all forms of error in the social survey process to enable survey results to be properly assessed and methodological advances to be made. The thesis divides into two sections, one concerned with sampling and the other with non-sampling errors. Most large-scale social surveys employ stratified multi-stage sample designs. Practical methods of sampling error estimation appropriate for such designs are described, and are employed - mainly for percentages - in two national attitude surveys and the multi-purpose General Household Survey. Kish's design effect model for means and percentages is shown to be useful both for imputing sampling errors, and for helping in the planning of future sample designs. The ultimate cluster sample approximation for a multi-stage epsem design is shown to provide simple sampling error estimators and a justification for the design effect model. After illustrating the importance of non-sampling error considerations in survey design by an appraisal of the use of population survey methods in the field of health and morbidity, some specific aspects of non-sampling errors are considered. A theoretical examination of the effect of using a grouped scale to measure a continuous variable (as with opinion items) indicates that the resulting errors are generally small providing about five or more scale points are used. The literature on the sensitivity of responses to opinion questions to the precise wording and format of the questions is reviewed, and the results of some new experiments are reported; appreciable effects occurred in several of the experiments, and in some cases the size of effect varied between different subgroups of the population. The results of an experiment on the variability between coders in making judgemental codings of responses to open-ended questions demonstrate that substantial errors can occur in processing such responses for statistical analysis.</p

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
