Solving problems from the domain of electrical circuits
TITLE: Solving problems from the domain of electrical circuits AUTHOR: Filip Devera DEPARTMENT: Department of Mathematics and Mathematical Education SUPERVISOR: Prof. RNDr. Jarmila Novotná, CSc. ABSTRACT: The subject of this thesis is solving problem from the domain of electrical circuits. Because the theory of electrical circuits itself is a broad subject, this thesis is going to focus only on a small subcategory, mainly electrical circuits, where the power sources supply the current and voltage either at a constant direct flow or with a harmonic waveform. Furthermore these circuits will be discussed only in their stabilized state. This may seem as a gross simplification of the subject, but majority of electronic devices works with direct or harmonic power supply. The goal set for this thesis is to define relationships for the design of selected electrical circuits derived from the much broader theory of electromagnetic field. Various methodologies and procedures for the design of electronic ci- rcuits exist, that are based on these relationships. These methods will be illustrated on solved examples. Aside from the physical characterization of circuits a mathematical apparatus will be needed to solve equations and sys- tem of equations, derived from the physical relationships

Steaming, Compressed Air
This essay, composed over a span of eight months, was developed through a collaboration meant to redefine notions of writing that excludes people with disabilities. As post-colonial/collaborative composition theory suggests (Davies, 1992), the author and the writer of the narrative are two distinct people. While the author constructed the words verbally through a series of ongoing dialogues, the writer transcribed, edited, and re-ordered the text. Douglas Biklen’s book, Communication Unbound (1993), inspired us to explore these non-traditional ways of “writing” that, while grounded in conversation and collaboration, also disrupt models of efficiency and individualism

State in the healthcare sectorThe healthcare sector is a specific area of economic life. It is connected with people’s strong emotional involvement, especially these people who are forced to use its services. Therefore, formulating any theoretical analysis without value judgments is almost impossible. The author tried to prove that, from the economic point of view, medical service belongs to typical private goods, despite the general social belief that the state should address the issue of health care. However, in countries that have a long tradition of state presence in healthcare, it is difficult to deregulate this sector. At the end, it is worth quoting Devera’s idea that healthcare system consumes up to 90% of expenditures on health care and results in only 10% reduction of mortality. In comparison, spending on promotion of healthy lifestyle consumes approximately 1.5% of expenditures on health care but it reduces mortality by around 40%. Similar financial allocations on the protection of natural environment have a potential impact on the reduction of mortality of approximately 20%. Expenditures on human biology amount approximately to 7% and they could reduce mortality of people by around 30%. It may be worth trying to make society aware that their choices have a much greater impact on the environment than it is commonly thought.State in the healthcare sectorThe healthcare sector is a specific area of economic life.
Abstract : The debate on the homeless population (HP) is present in the public policies field, but it seldom prioritizes know the perception of this specific group of people about the services that are provided and/or guaranteed for them. This study aimed to understand the perception of this population segment on the public service received by social assistance and if this service meets their needs as provided by Decree no. 7053 in Florianopolis. In order to reach this aim, a qualitative research was combined with both the field work on the street and in institutional space. For selection criteria of the HP interviewed, people over 18 years-old, both sexes, accompanied or not by the Reference Center - Centro-Pop, municipal service for their health care - were addressed. At the institutional space, professionals from the municipal public services of social assistance (Pop. Center and Refuge / Homeless Shelters); health workers (Office on the street and Psychosocial Care Center); the Municipal Council of Social Assistance; as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) who have been working with homeless care were heard. The responses analysis was based on seven conceptual categories: status, stigma, phenomenon, rualização, poverty, social exclusion and interdependence. The following findings were identified from the perspective of Homeless People: They are not being socially protected from a comprehensive health perspective; there is a need for investment in actions that strengthen the dialogue between social assistance and other public policies; it is important to enrich and incentive the organization of the Social Movement of this user; the intervention actions to them does not ensure an interdependent relationship, reifying the idea that individual and society are different instances. Based on that, this study has purposed an intervention methodology to HP in order to build interdependent relationships between them and the society
Parasitosis intestinales en vendedores ambulantes de comida en Ciudad Bolívar, estado Bolívar, Venezuela | Intestinal parasitosis in food handlers from ciudad Bolívar, Bolívar state, Venezuela
Se concluye que existe una alta prevalencia de parasitosis intestinales en los vendedores ambulante de comida que fueron evaluadosPalabras clave: Enteroparásitos, manipulación de alimentos, prevalencia.ABSTRACTA descriptive study was performed to determine the prevalence of intestinal parasites in a sample of apparently healthy individuals who sold food in streets in Los Proceres of Ciudad Bolívar, Bolívar State. Fecal samples were collected from 85 individuals, which were analyzed by means of direct examination, qualitative Kato, spontaneous sedimentation and Kinyoun staining. Each individual was filled a clinical epidemiological record and underwent anamnesis and oriented clinical examination. The assessed group comprised 50 women and 35 men with ages 14 to 57 years (mean 15.25 ± 4.21 years). From this group, 50 persons (58.82%) were parasitized mainly by Blastocystis spp. (42.22%), Endolimax nana (11.11%), Entamoeba coli (6.67%), Giardia intestinalis (11.11%), Cryptosporidium spp. (11.11%) and Cystoisospora belli (4.44%). There was no preference for gender or age (p > 0.05), and persons aged 20 to 25 years were the most affected group. Monoparasitism was observed in 56% (n = 28) cases and 44% (n = 22) of cases had other associated parasites, being the most frequent association between Blastocystis spp with Entamoeba coli and Endolimax nana. It is concluded that there is a high prevalence of intestinal parasitosis among street food handlers.Key words: Enteroparasites, food handlers, prevalence
