A ampliação das conexões de banda larga,aumentando a qualidade da transmissão de dados digitais, facilitou dois fenômenosobservados no texto: o acesso imediato a arquivos de áudio e vídeo, por meio deredes sociais e sistemas de compartilhamento online; e o uso de videoconferênciasem aulas de música, particularmente para o ensino de instrumentos musicais.Ambos podem contribuir em processos de ensino e aprendizagem da música, comoferramentas didáticas ou formas de interação entre educadores e seus alunos. Nessecontexto, acompanhar as vivências digitais das gerações mais jovens e aproveitarrecursos da internet como Skype, Facebook e YouTube torna-se um desafio constante,assim como um caminho para novas práticas educacionais na área da música.This article discusses consequences and possibilities of the recent Internetdevelopments for music education. The widening of the broadband connections,increasing the quality of transmission of digital data, has facilitated two phenomenathat are observed in the text: the immediate access to audio and video files, throughsocial media and online sharing systems; and the use of videoconferencing in musicclasses, particularly for the teaching of musical instruments. Both can contribute forprocesses of music teaching and learning, as teaching tools or ways for educators andtheirs students to interact. Within this context, to follow the digital experiences of theyounger generations and to use Internet resources as Skype, Facebook and YouTubeturns into a constant challenge, as well as a path for new educational practices in themusic field
A realidade das redes sociais: uma discussão acerca da educação musical nas comunidades virtuais
Get PDFEste texto propõe uma discussão sobre implicações que as comunidades virtuais trazem para a área da educação musical. São exploradas algumas das mudanças ocorridas na última década, causadas sobretudo pelo desenvolvimento das redes sociais. Como ponto de partida, há questões sobre as possibilidades de contato com novos repertórios, a formação de comunidades com interesses comuns na música e as consequências na formação de professores de música. Em contraposição a perspectivas propícias para a educação musical, são apontadas problemáticas trazidas pelas novas tecnologias, tais como vícios digitais, excesso de informação e dificuldades de concentração causadas por distrações constantes. Observamos uma grande expansão do alcance de redes sociais, conectando bilhões de pessoas ao redor do planeta, assim como a criação de cursos on-line abertos e massivos (MOOCs) que chegam a milhares de indivíduos. Tal quadro demonstra que nossas experiências com música estarão cada vez mais permeadas por interações on-line, forjando um futuro no qual a compreensão de possíveis aspectos nocivos da internet se torna imprescindível
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. No full textEsta pesquisa tem como objetivo geral compreender as interações que acontecem entre os alunos a partir das relações de ensino/aprendizagem da bateria em grupo, tendo como campo empírico uma turma de alunos da Oficina de Bateria do Projeto de Extensão da Escola de Música da Universidade Federal da Bahia. Como objetivos específicos, o estudo procurou identificar: bibliografia que tratasse de interações em práticas musicais coletivas e de ensino de bateria; autores que pudessem dar suporte teórico ao tema estudado; investigar as relações de ensino e aprendizagem entre os envolvidos assim como as relações de amizade estabelecidas entre eles dentro e fora da sala de aula. O Referencial Teórico foi constituído
especialmente dos estudos de Leila Dias, pesquisadora da área de Educação Musical e do Sociólogo e Filósofo que dedicou-se à enomenoflogia e á metodologia das ciências sociais, Alfred Schutz. Essa pesquisa contou com uma abordagem qualitativa, utilizando-se do estudo
de caso em uma observação participante. Para coleta de dados, utilizou-se o diário de campo, entrevistas semiestruturadas, fotos, filmagens e postagens em uma rede social. Os resultados obtidos revelaram que, as interações construídas na aula de bateria em grupo promoveram, de modo consistente, o desenvolvimento musical assim como a construção de novas sociabilidades em todos os envolvidos no processo.This research has the general objective to understand the interactions that occur among students from educational relations and Drums Workshop Extension Project of the Music School of the Federal University of Bahia. The specific objectives of the study sought to identify: literature that dealt with interactions in collective musical practices and drums education; authors that could give theoretical support to the subject studied; investigate the
teaching and learning relationships between those involved as well as the friendly relations established between them in and out of the classroom. The Theoretical Reference was set up especially by the studies of Leila Dias, a researcher in the area of Music Education and the Sociologist and Philosopher who devoted to the phenomenology and social science
methodology, Alfred Schutz. This study used a qualitative approach, using the case study participant observation. For data collection, we used the field diary, semi-structured interviews, photos, filming and postings on a social network. The results showed that the interactions built in group drum lesson promoted, in a consistently way, the musical development and the construction of new social arrangements in all involved in the process
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
