L’ Archivio Digitale Vivente e la costruzione di una memoria culturale partecipativa nel progetto DARE-UIA (Digital Environment for collaborative Alliances to Regenerate urban Ecosystems in middle-sized cities)
Living Archives perform a function of social memory sharing, which contributes to building social bonds, communities, and identities. This potential lays in the ability of Living Archives to put together an archival function, which allows with the conservation and transmission of memory, with an artistic, performative and creative function linked to the present. As part of the DARE-UIA (Digital environment for colaborative alliances to regenerate urban ecosystem in middle-sized cities) project, the creation of a living digital archive made possible to create a narrative that would consolidate the cultural memory of the Darsena district of the city of Ravenna. The aim of the project is to stimulate the urban regeneration of a suburban area of a city, enhancing its cultural memory and identity heritage, through digital heritage tools. The methodology used involves various digital storytelling actions necessary for the overall narrative using georeferencing systems (GIS), storymaps and 3D reconstructions for a transversal narration of historical content such as personal and institutional historical photos and to enhance the industrial archeology heritage of the neighborhood. The aim is the creation of an interactive and replicable narrative in similar contexts to the Darsena district in Ravenna. The Living Archive, in which all the digital contents are inserted, finds its manifestation towards the outside with the form of a museum spread throughout the neighborhood, making the contents usable on smartphones via QR codes and totems inserted on-site, creating thematic itineraries spread around the neighborhood. The construction of an interactive and engaging digital narrative has made possible to enhance the material and immaterial heritage of the neighborhood by recreating the community that has historically always distinguished it.Gli archivi viventi svolgono una funzione di condivisione sociale della memoria che contribuisce a costruire legami sociali, comunità e identità.

State-of-the-Art of Resilience Using Bibliometric Analysis
The interest in the concept of Resilience in the scientific community has been growing consistently over the past few years to study the functionality and behavior of systems against natural and man-made hazards. This is reflected by the number of journal articles that can be accessed in the Web of Science database. In this paper, a bibliometric and visualization method is applied to explore the status of resilience research in civil engineering applications by analyzing the journal papers published from 1996 to 2020. The bibliometric analysis aims at consolidating the state of the art by identifying influential journals, most cited articles, the geographic distribution of resilience publications including the research institutions by country, the author keywords distribution, and the co-authorship status. The concept of resilience is investigated through eight subject categories identified by the authors in the literature: Recovery time strategies and Downtime, Critical infrastructures, Probabilistic approaches, Fuzzy logic approaches, Structural health monitoring, Health Care facilities, Emergency management and Decision-making, Community and Urban Resilience. Results show that resilience research has increased rapidly since its introduction, most notably in the last seven years. In terms of the geographical region of the studies, most of them have been carried out in the USA, the United Kingdom, China, and Italy. Finally, based on the author keywords analysis, it is possible to observe that recovery strategies, critical infrastructures, vulnerability, and community resilience have attracted prominent attention during the past decade
Methodology to Assess the Level of Service and Resilience of Rural Roads in Italian Seismic Zones: Challenges and Strategies for Improvement
Publisher Copyright: © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.This study investigates the level of service (LOS) and level of resilience (LOR) of rural road transport infrastructures in Italian seismic zones, focusing on their unique vulnerabilities and the implications for local populations. Italy’s rural road network, characterized by its age and issues associated, faces significant challenges, especially during and after extreme events like seismic events, landslides, floodings and others. High travel times on these roads are exacerbated by frequent closures due to these extreme events induced damages, severely impacting accessibility. This research applies a new methodology to analyse the current LOS and LOR, highlighting the extended travel times and the roads’ inability to efficiently accommodate traffic flow as during normal conditions. Additionally, the study assesses the LOR, considering the duration and impact of road closures on community access to essential services, such as hospitals and workplaces. Using a combination of historical records, and resilience metrics, the study identifies critical weaknesses in the rural road network’s response and recovery capabilities.Peer reviewe

Dynamic Characterization of the Consistory Building in Comune di Sant’Agapito, Italy: Ambient Vibration Testing, Data Analysis, and Finite Element Validation
Publisher Copyright: © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.This research paper presents a comprehensive study on the dynamic behaviour of the consistory building in Comune di Sant’Agapito, Italy, through ambient vibration testing and subsequent data analysis. The consistory building, a significant historical structure, was subjected to an ambient vibration test to capture its natural frequencies and mode shapes. Accelerometers were strategically placed to record the building’s response to ambient vibrations. The collected data was then processed using two distinct methods: Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and Frequency Domain Decomposition (FDD). FFT and FDD were chosen for their complementary strengths in identifying frequency content and extracting modal parameters, respectively. The differences between the results obtained from FFT and FDD were meticulously analysed to understand the advantages and limitations of each method in the context of historical buildings. To validate the experimental findings, a finite element model (FEM) of the consistory building is developed to simulate its dynamic response. The FEM results were compared with the experimental data to assess the accuracy of the model and the reliability of the FFT and FDD methods. This study not only contributes to the understanding of the consistory building’s dynamic characteristics but also demonstrates the efficacy of combining ambient vibration testing, advanced data processing techniques, and finite element modelling.Peer reviewe
Integrated platform to assess seismic resilience at the community level
Due to the increasing frequency of disastrous events, the challenge of creating large-scale simulation models has become of major significance. Indeed, several simulation strategies and methodologies have been recently developed to explore the response of communities to natural disasters. Such models can support decision-makers during emergency operations allowing to create a global view of the emergency identifying consequences. An integrated platform that implements a community hybrid model with real-time simulation capabilities is presented in this paper. The platform's goal is to assess seismic resilience and vulnerability of critical infrastructures (e.g., built environment, power grid, socio-technical network) at the urban level, taking into account their interdependencies. Finally, different seismic scenarios have been applied to a large-scale virtual city model. The platform proved to be effective to analyze the emergency and could be used to implement countermeasures that improve community response and overall resilience.Green Open Access added to TU Delft Institutional Repository ‘You share, we take care!’ – Taverne project https://www.openaccess.nl/en/you-share-we-take-care Otherwise as indicated in the copyright section: the publisher is the copyright holder of this work and the author uses the Dutch legislation to make this work public.Integral Design & Managemen
Improving of the Decision-Making Process Towards Climate Change Adaptation in Transport Infrastructures
Publisher Copyright: © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.Transport infrastructure (TI) is one of the most vulnerable assets to climate change (CC) impacts. With the dramatic increase in climate induced hazards, the crucial role of LS to society, economy and environment has put this area as a significant topic in need of improvement. There are several methodologies and climatic data that exist in research for mitigation of climate change impact, but it is often perceived difficult to translate this data into a simplified integrated process that can be followed by infrastructure managers ensuring effective asset management. Accordingly, the need for implementing climate adaptation measures can be justified through a criterion for having quantifiable key performance indicators to facilitate comparison of different solutions and simplify the decision making including different stakeholder engagement, resilience assessment, sustainability consideration and opens doors for the acknowledgement of Nature-Based Solutions as viable options for consideration. This paper aims to present a review for some of the recent current decision-making practices towards climate resilient Transport infrastructures and possibilities for in depth assessment and long-term monitoring and improvement.Peer reviewe
