Identifikasi Gulma Resisten Herbisida Paraquat pada Lahanjagung di Kecamatan Tigabinanga Kabupaten Karo
KRISTIAN ADINATA GINTING: Identification of Weed Resistant to Paraquat
Herbicide In Corn Fields of Tigabinanga Subdistrict Karo District, supervised by
EDISON PURBA and JONIS GINTING.
Paraquat is one of most intensive used herbicides by farmers in
Tigabinanga Subdistrict (TS) for weed control in their corn fields. Repeated use of
same herbicide for long time will lead to development of weed resistant to
herbicide. Therefore, a research had been conducted to identify paraquat
resistant weed species at corn fields of TS. This research consist of 3 steps: seed
collection, screening of resistant and susceptible biotypes, and dose response test.
Seed of putative paraquat resistant biotypes were collected from 28 random corn
fields in TS. At screening test, paraquat at rate 150 g/ha was evaluated against
weed populations to find resistant and susceptible biotypes. The experiment was
performed in a randomized block design with three replications. Dose response
test was arranged in a randomized block design and four replications with
treatment 8 leves paraquat dose (0,25,50,100, 200, 400, 800, 1600 g/ha). The
parameter observed were visual assessment, number of survival weeds, lethal
dose (LD50), and weed dry weight.
The result show that all Echinochloa colonum population was identified as
susceptible biotype to paraquat whereas Eleusine indica from Benjire Village
(ETB-14) and Perlamben Village (ETB-19), TS were identified as paraquatresistant biotype. Resistant index of ETB-14 and ETB-19 biotype were >5 and >968 HalamanSkripsi Sarjan

Evy Thyrida Silaban “The Growth and Production of Sweet Corn (Zea mays sacharata Sturt. Pengendalian Eleusine Indica L. Resisten Glifosat dengan Herbisida Glifosat, Paraquat dan Amonium Glufosinat pada Fase Pertumbuhan Berbeda
Eleusine indica (L.) has been widely reported to be resistant to the herbicide active ingredient glyphosate and this resistant population is used in several plantation locations in Indonesia. Various studies related to testing the doses of various active ingredients have been widely carried out, but testing of the active ingredients glyphosate, paraquat and ammonium glufosinate on glyphosate resistant E.indica growth phase has not been widely reported. This study aims to determine the growth phase that has the highest mortality rate of multiple E.indica biotypes by glyphosate, paraquat, and ammonium glufosinate at several levels of different herbicide doses. This research was conducted at the Pasar Baru Kelurahan Titi Rante Kecamatan Medan Baru Padang Bulan Medan bulan February-Mei 2023. This study used a factorial randomized block design. The first factor is the type of herbicide at several doses: paraquat (0, 75, 150, 300, 600, 1,200, 2,400g ba./Ha), ammonium glufosinate (0, 112,5, 225, 450, 900, 1,800, 3,600g ba ./ Ha) and glyphosate (0, 135, 270, 540, 1.080, 2.160, 4.320g ba./ Ha). The second factor was the growth of E.indica stages 4-6 leaves and 8-10 leaves which were tested on glyphosate resistant and sensitive populations of E.indica. The observed variables were: the proportion of survival of ERG and ESG after herbicide application (%), dry weight (g), relative dry weight (%) and LD50. The results showed that the application of ammonium glufosinate was better when E. indica was glyphosate resistant at stage 4-6 leaves (dose 1,800g ba/Ha) than at stage 8-10 leaves (3,600g ba./Ha) in terms of mortality observations. Mortality of glyphosate and paraquat resistant E.indica did not show a different response in the two growth stages, with the application of glyphosate doses of 4,320 g ba./Ha and paraquat 2,400 g ba./Ha both resulted in 100% mortality in both growth phases of E.indica glyphosate resistance. The LD50 value of E.indica resistant/sensitive population in glyphosate application was higher in stage 4-6 leaves (1:7.5) than in stage 8-10 leaves (1:4.2) as well as in paraquat application, namely stage 4- 6 leaves (1:5,5) and 8-10 leaves (1:4,23) but did not differ from the application of glufosinate at both stages (1:6). The highest degree of multiple resistance of E.indica glyphosate resistance was generally found in the active ingredient glyphosate (the highest between two stages 7.5 times the dose) was moderate in the active ingredient paraquat (the highest was above two stages 5.5 times the dose) and low in the active ingredient glufosinate (both stages 1.6 times the dose).120 HalamanTesis Magiste
Edison
From Pulitzer Prize-winning author Morris comes a revelatory new biography of Thomas Alva Edison, the most prolific genius in American historyThomas Alva Edison's invention of the first practical incandescent lamp 140 years ago so dazzled the world that it cast a shadow over his later achievements. In all, this near-deaf genius patented 1,093 inventions, not including those he left unlicensed for the benefit of medicine.Morris portrays the unknown Edison-- philosopher, futurist, chemist, botanist, wartime defense adviser, founder of nearly 250 companies-- while deconstructing the Edison of mythological memory. -- adapted from jacke

Thomas Edison: Success and Innovation through Failure [electronic resource] /
This book develops a systematic approach to the role of failure in innovation, using the laboratory notebooks of America's most successful inventor, Thomas Edison. It argues that Edison's active pursuit of failure and innovative uses of failure as a tool were crucial to his success. From this the author argues that not only should we expect innovations to fail but that there are good reasons to want them to fail. Using Edison's laboratory notebooks, written as he worked and before he knew the outcome we see the many false starts, wrong directions and failures that he worked through on his way to producing revolutionary inventions. While Edison's strengths in exploiting failure made him the icon of American inventors, they could also be liabilities when he moved from one field to another. Not only is this book of value to readers with an interest in the history of technology and American invention, its insights are important to those who seek to innovate and to those who employ and finance them.Chapter 1. The importance of pairwork in educational and interdisciplinary initiatives
An early and prominent employee of Google, Georges Harik, recently made the assertion that pairs working together in startups are 20 times more productive than individuals working alone. The author has also personally experienced the boost of what is here termed pairwork in a university setting during the startup phase of several educational and interdisciplinary initiatives. The paper briefly explores pairwork in the history of technology and constructs both qualitative and little quantitative models of pairwork. The quantitative model under reasonable assumptions easily recovers Harik’s 20x boost. The paper also briefly examines the author’s recent experiences with pairwork in four interdisciplinary and educational initiatives
No Underskirts in Africa: Edison Carneiro and the "Lineages" of Afro-Brazilian Religious Anthropology
The article presents the folklorist, essayist, journalist and anthropologist Edison Carneiro (1912-1972) and situates him among the “lineages” or intellectual affiliations in the context of studies on Afro-Brazilian religious groups. Describing the life of Edison Carneiro, his relationship with American anthropologist Ruth Landes and his participation in the folkloric movement, I look to situate Carneiro among the various intellectual trends
found within the study of Afro-Brazilian religions. I argue that the author occupied an ambiguous position in terms of the African presence in the constitution of Afro-Brazilian religions, showing close proximities to Ruth Landes, Franklin Frazier, Ruth Benedict, Donald Pierson and Robert Park on the one hand, and Melville Herskovitz, Roger Bastide and Arthur Ramos on the other. Carneiro’s studies of Candomblé de Caboclo express this
