Le edizioni antiche di Bernardino Telesio: censimento e storia
Get PDFIl volume censisce le copie delle antiche edizioni delle opere del filosofo Bernardino Telesio (1509-1588) e ne ricostruisce la circolazione. La ricerca ha individuato ben 718 esemplari, di cui 543 sono stati analizzati autopticamente. Il capitolo iniziale narra non solo le vicende che hanno portato alla pubblicazione delle singole edizioni ma anche le modalità con cui esse sono circolate sui mercati italiani ed europei, fino a giungere agli scaffali delle maggiori biblioteca private e degli antichi stati europei. Per ogni esemplare è stata redatta una scheda in cui si offre la dettagliata descrizione del libro e una ricostruzione del suo percorso dalla tipografia ai lettori. Tutti i nomi dei possessori sono stati identificati. La Premessa è di Nuccio Ordine, la Presentazione di Angela Nuovo e l'introduzione di Roberto Bondì.This book provides a detailed worldwide census for the 718 surviving copies of the 16th century editions with works by Bernardino Telesio (1509-1588) the philosopher of nature born in Cosenza (South Italy). The first chapter tells the events that led to the publication of these 10 editions and describes their circulation, from the Italian and European markets up to the major European private and state libraries. In the second part of the book for each copy a detailed reconstruction of its journey from the printing houses to the readers is given, together with a description of the handwritten marginalia and bibliographic information. All the names of the owners have been identified. The Preface is by Nuccio Ordine, the Presentation by Angela Nuovo and the Introduction by Roberto Bondi

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Ordinary and extraordinary prices in the Giolito Libri spirituali sales List
Get PDFThis article illustrates an early modern sales list of books, the Libri spirituali di stampa of the Venetian Giolito publishing house. This printed list, kept in the Biblioteca Comunale Augusta in Perugia, includes the descriptions of 81 devotional and religious sixteenth century books with their prices expressed in Venetian lire (an account money). The aim of the research is to illustrate the price policy of the Giolito firm between 1587 and 1592, and the segment of the market they intended to serve. For this purpose, on the basis of the books priced, the list has been dated and placed in chronological relation with other already known Giolito sales catalogues. In the second part of the article, average prices per printing sheet are calculated and the relationships between prices and dates, languages and formats are taken into consideration. In the end, the reasons why some few editions were proposed on the market at a higher price are discussed. The list is published in the AppendixL’articolo presenta il catalogo di vendita Libri spirituali di stampa dell’editore veneziano Giolito. Si tratta di un foglio a stampa, di cui è nota una sola copia conservata alla Biblioteca Augusta di Perugia, che descrive 81 edizioni di argomento religioso e devozionale indicandone i prezzi in lire veneziane, una moneta di conto. Lo scopo della ricerca è illustrare la politica dei prezzi dell’editore Giolito tra il 1587 e il 1592, con qualche accenno al segmento di mercato cui si rivolgeva. Il catalogo è datato sulla base delle edizioni che vi sono elencate e viene posto in relazione cronologica con gli altri cataloghi di vendita già noti dello stesso editore. Nella seconda parte dell’articolo sono calcolati i prezzi medi per foglio di stampa e sono prese in considerazione le relazioni tra prezzo e data, prezzo e lingua, e prezzo e formato delle singole edizioni.
