Amanda Galvan Huynh, 44th Annual ODU Literary Festival
Amanda Galvan Huynh is a Mexican American writer and educator from Texas. She is the author of Lotería (Sundress Publications, 2022), Songs of Brujería (Big Lucks, 2019) and co-editor for Of Color: Poets’ Ways of Making: An Anthology of Essays on Transformative Poetics (Operating System, 2019). Her writing has been supported by fellowships and scholarships from MacDowell, Vermont Studio Center, Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and others. She received a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from Old Dominion University, and she is a doctoral student in English at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa
Monographis thatsonensis Huynh 2022, new species
Monographis thatsonensis new species Figures 2, 18–23 Material examined: Holotype, adult male (IEBR-Myr 993) and paratypes: Adult, two males (IEBR-Myr 994) two females (IEBR-Myr 995) and subadults, three females with 12 pairs of legs (IEBR-Myr 996) were collected from Cam Mountain, 10.496944N, 104.981389E; elevation 662 m, in the Seven Mountain Ranges (That Son), located in Tri Ton and Tinh Bien districts, An Giang Province, Vietnam. All types were deposited in the Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources, Vietnam. Specimens were collected by author CH on 8 th July 2017. Diagnosis: Body length 2.0–3.0 mm. Antennal article VI with 15–16 bacilliform sensilla forming crescent shape, setiform sensillum located in anterior position, conical sensillum present near centre of crescent. Labrum asetose, long slender anterior setae on anterior margin. Telotarsus with anterior and posterior lateral processes equal in length and shorter than half-length of claw, lamella processes present, anterior setiform process longer than claw. Description: Holotype male body 2.0 mm; paratypes: males 2.0– 2.2 mm, females 2.4–3.0 mm; caudal bundle 0.5 mm, nest trichomes 0.2 mm. Head: Arrangement of post vertex trichomes as for Monographis cattienensis with the holotype having 12 sockets on both sides in anterior rows, posterior rows with 4 sockets (L) and 3 sockets (R) (Figures 18A & 18B, 22A). Paratype showed anterior rows with 12–16 sockets, posterior rows with 3–4, these setae shorter in length than labrum width (Paratype with 8–10 setae). Clypeo-labrum: Holotype, labrum surface asetose (l), labrum posterior margin has a row of minute backward-pointing setae (sb). Lateral lamella (Ll) and single broad lamella each side median cleft (mc), 12 (L) and 8 (R) slender setae (sa) present on anterior margin of labrum (Figures 18C & 22C & 22D). Antennae: Antennal article VI with 15–16 bacilliform sensilla. Holotype with 15 bacilliform sensilla forming a crescent shape with 3 thick (T), 3 thin bacilliform sensilla (t), 3 medium-length thin bacilliform sensilla (tm), and 6 short thin bacilliform sensilla (ts), setiform sensillum (S) located in anterior position, conical sensillum (C) present near centre of crescent (Figures 19C, 21B & 21D). Telotarsus: Claw slender, anterior (a) and posterior lateral (p) processes equal in length and shorter than halflength of claw (c), lamella processes (la) present, anterior setiform process (s) longer than claw (Figures 20B & 23D). Telson: Arrangement of dorsal ornamental trichome sockets similar to M. cattienensis with 14 trichome sockets a left side and 15 sockets on right side of the telson in the holotype (paratype with 14–18 sockets). (Figures 20C, 23A & 23B). Remarks: Monographis thatsonensis sp. n. showed a distinctive pattern of sensilla on antennal article VI, labrum structures, anterior and posterior lateral processes equal in length and shorter than half-length of claw, anterior setiform process longer than claw. Narażenie na hałas podczas pracy i praktyka prewencyjna wśród pracowników pracujących w kamieniołomach w rejonie prowincji An Giang, 2018
Noise is one of the most common occupational hazards in Vietnam, causing occupational hearing impairement. Stone mining is among the high-risk working environment. This study aims to describe noise exposure and prevention practice among workers of stone mining in An Giang province. A cross-sectional study using a quantitative method was conducted in 2018. 176 noise samples were collected, and 215 workers were interviewed using a structured questionnaire. Results show that workers at grinding section exposed with the high level of noise (compared to national standards) and they did not practice adequately to protect themselves from the hazard. Workers aged above 39 years old and had more than 10-year working experience had better prevention practice than the other groups. The differences were statistically significant. It is concluded that workers were exposed to the high level of noise at work, their practice regarding hearing impairement prevention was not adequate, and age, years of working were associated factors with prevention practice among workers.W kamieniołomach na rejonie prowincji An Giang występuje szereg źródeł lub procesów emitujących hałas, który powoduje uciążliwość akustyczną przede wszystkim na stanowiskach pracy. Część procesów/źródeł pozostaje poza możliwościami zastosowania wyciszeń użycie materiałów wybuchowych w kopalni czy stosowanie ciężkiego sprzętu do transportu urobku. Uciążliwe dźwięki mogą być szkodliwe nie tylko dla słuchu, ale mają negatywny wpływ na cały organizm. Niniejsze badanie ma na celu opisanie narażenia na hałas i praktyk zapobiegawczych wśród pracowników górnictwa kamienia w prowincji An Giang. W 2018 roku przeprowadzono badanie przekrojowe metodą ilościową. Pobrano 176 próbek hałasu i przeprowadzono wywiady z 215 pracownikami za pomocą ustrukturyzowanego kwestionariusza. Wyniki pokazują, że pracownicy sekcji szlifowania narażeni byli na wysokim poziomie hałasu (w porównaniu z normami krajowymi) i nie ćwiczyli odpowiednio, aby chronić się przed zagrożeniem. Pracownicy w wieku powyżej 39 lat i mający ponad 10-letnie doświadczenie zawodowe mieli lepsze praktyki profilaktyczne niż inne grupy. Stwierdzono, że pracownicy byli narażeni na wysokim poziomie hałasu w miejscu pracy, ich praktyka w zakresie profilaktyki wad słuchu nie była adekwatna, a wiek, lata pracy były czynnikami związanymi z praktyką profilaktyczną wśród pracowników

Amanda Galvan Huynh (she/her) is a Xicana writer and educator from Texas. She is the author of a chapbook, Songs of Brujería (Big Lucks September 2019) and Co-Editor of Of Color: Poets’ Ways of Making: An Anthology of Essays on Transformative Poetics (The Operating System 2019). Her debut poetry collection, Where My Umbilical is Buried, is forthcoming in March 2023 with Sundress Publications. Amanda has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize, Best New Poets, and Sundress Publications’ Best of the Net. She was a 2016 AWP Intro Journal Project Award Winner, 2018 Best of the Net Winner, a finalist for the 2015 Gloria Anzaldúa Poetry Prize, and a finalist for the 2017 Poetry Society of America Chapbook Fellowship. Her poetry can be read in print and online journals such as Hayden’s Ferry Review, Puerto del Sol, The Southampton Review, and others.
Amanda earned her MFA in Poetry at Old Dominion University, BA in English at the University of Texas at Arlington, and BA in Biology at the University of Texas at Dallas. Currently, she is a doctoral student in English at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa

Monographis tamdaoensis new species Figures 13–17 Material examined: Holotype, adult male (IEBR-Myr 989) and paratypes: Adult, two males (IEBR-Myr 990) two females (IEBR-Myr 991) and, two subadults with 12 pairs of legs (IEBR-Myr 992) were collected from Tam Dao National Park, 21.458611N, 105.649444E, elevation 1017 m, Vinh Phuc Province, northern Vietnam. All types were deposited in the Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources, Vietnam. Specimens were collected by author CH in the field trip organised by Dr Duc Anh Nguyen, on 17 th July 2017. Diagnosis: Body length 2.4–3.2 mm. Antennal article VI with 16–18 bacilliform sensilla forming crescent shape, setiform sensillum located in anterior position, conical sensillum present near centre of crescent. Labrum asetose, long slender anterior setae in anterior margin. Telotarsus with posterior lateral process shorter than half-length of claw, anterior lateral and lamella processes present, anterior setiform process shorter than half-length of claw. Description: Holotype male body 2.4 mm; paratypes: males 2.2–2.4 mm, females 3.0– 3.2 mm; caudal bundle 0.5 mm, nest trichomes 0.2 mm. Head: Arrangement of post vertex trichomes as for Monographis cattienensis with the holotype having 13 sockets (L) and 14 (R) in anterior rows, posterior rows with 3 sockets on both sides (Figures 13A & 13B). Paratype showed anterior rows with 12–14 sockets, posterior rows with 2–3 sockets (Figure 16A). Marine algal species and their distribution in Phu Quoc marine protected area
This article presents the raw data in relation to the status of, and the distribution of, the 41 marine algal species occurring around and within the An Thoi coral reef strictly protected zone, Phu Quoc Marine Protected Area. The data, which were collected in May 2017, include the detailed description of the locations, the oceanographical conditions, and the photographs of the 41 marine algal species. Business plan for a coffee shop
This subject of this thesis project is the author’s business plan for opening a themed book coffee shop in Helsinki and involved discovering how a new graduate is going to establish a start-up company in the food and beverage field. The study addresses how a business is run as a start-up company and discuss several difficulties of becoming an entrepreneur in Finland.
The theoretical framework of this thesis discusses issues regarding entrepreneurship, the setting up of a company and how this should be documented. The objective of the study was to produce a feasible business plan for a coffee shop in Helsinki and to help people get a closer look at the step-by-step procedure of how this can be achieved.
The empirical research involved investigating the Finns’ habits of consuming coffee and other popular beverages in order for the author to design the menu of the coffee shop. Market research and observation of how coffee shops in Helsinki are doing in terms of their success in maintaining and strengthening their brand were also utilized to draw up a detailed business plan.
The thesis project utilized and qualitative research methods. By interviewing 3 the coffee shop owners and customers about their interest in buying coffee in Helsinki, details concerning the potential market could be gauged and some of the pitfalls likely to face a new graduate when opening a coffee house could be determined. The thesis has brought a clearer insight on how to run a coffee business in the Helsinki region as well as given a detail business plan for the startup step by step
Groundwater Quality Assessment Using Fuzzy-AHP in An Giang Province of Vietnam
Along with rapid population growth in Vietnam, there is an increasing dependence on groundwater for various activities. An Giang province is known to be one of the agricultural intensification areas of The Vietnamese Mekong Delta (VMD). This study aimed to evaluate the spatiotemporal variation of groundwater quality for a period of ten years from 2009 to 2018 in An Giang. The weighted groundwater quality index (GWQI) was developed based on the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (Fuzzy-AHP) for assigning weighted parameters. The results show that that shallow wells in the Northeast and Southeast regions of An Giang were mostly categorized under "bad water" quality with high arsenic (As) concentration over the years partly due to huge amounts of sediment deposition in monsoon season. Overall, the reason for the poor groundwater quality in An Giang was the combined effect of both natural and human activities. On the other hand, we detected high values of GWQI links with high As concentration in areas where people extract more groundwater for irrigation. Temporal variation of GWQI suggested that groundwater quality at eight wells has improved from 2009 to 2018 in the wet season as compared to the dry season. The reason behind the improvement of groundwater quality during wet season was the decrease in river discharge, which causes less deposition of suspended solids near the flood plains. Moreover, the filling of unused wells can reduce the movement of pollutants from unused wells to groundwater aquifers. Although there was not sufficient evidence to show the relationship between As and sediment concentration, the temporal reduction trend in river discharge and suspended solids was detected in An Giang. The understanding of groundwater quality can help policymakers protect and manage limited water resources in the long-term
