Multiple model approach for robust state estimation in presence of model uncertainty and bounded disturbances

    No full text
In the present work, an optimization-based algorithm for state estimation under model uncertainty and bounded disturbances is presented. In order to avoid to solve a non-convex optimization problem, model and state estimation problems are divided into two convex formulations which are solved within a fixed-point iteration scheme with standard available solvers. Guaranty of robust global stability is given for the case of bounded disturbances and uncertainty, and convergence to the true system and vector state are given for the case of vanishing disturbances.Fil: Deniz, Nestor Nahuel. A Receding Horizon Framework for Autonomy in Unmanned Vehicles

    No full text
In this article we present a unified framework based on receding horizon techniques that can be used to design the three tasks (guidance, navigation and path-planning) which are involved in the autonomy of unmanned vehicles. This tasks are solved using model predictive control and moving horizon estimation techniques, which allows us to include physical and dynamical constraints at the design stage, thus leading to optimal and feasible results. In order to demonstrate the capabilities of the proposed framework, we have used Gazebo simulator in order to drive a Jackal unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) along a desired path computed by the path-planning task. The results we have obtained are successful as the estimation and guidance errors are small and the Jackal UGV is able to follow the desired path satisfactorily and it is also capable to avoid the obstacles which are in its way.Fil: Murillo, Marina Hebe. In this work, we address the problem to solve simultaneously state estimation and control of nonlinear systems under bounded disturbances using a moving horizon approach. Besides, necessary and sufficient conditions to guaranty the existence of a feasible solution are given, as well as stability results. The problem is posed as an optimization-based formulation which simultaneously estimates the optimal state trajectory and computes the future control actions to steer the system to a desired region of operation. Besides, computations of the length of the window required to neglect the effects of the initial conditions of the estimator part and the window length necessary to steer the state of the system to the desired operation region despite the disturbances are given.Fil: Deniz, Nestor Nahuel. Improving path-tracking performance of an articulated tractor-trailer system using a non-linear kinematic model

This paper presents a novel non-linear mathematical model of an articulated tractor-trailer system that can be used, in combination with receding horizon techniques, to improve the performance of path tracking tasks of articulated systems. Due to its dual steering mechanisms, this type of vehicle can be very useful in precision agriculture, particularly for seeding, spraying and harvesting in small fields. The articulated tractor-trailer system model was embedded within a non-linear model predictive controller and the trailer position was monitored. When the kinematic of the trailer was considered, the deviation of trailer's position was reduced substantially alongside not only straight paths but also in headland turns. Using the proposed mathematical model, we were able to control the trailer's position itself rather than the tractor's position. The Robot Operating System (ROS) framework and Gazebo simulator were used to perform realistic simulations examples.Fil: Murillo, Marina Hebe. A Real-Time Path-Planning Algorithm based on Receding Horizon Techniques

    Get PDF
In this article we present a real-time path-planning algorithm that can be used to generate optimal and feasible paths for any kind of unmanned vehicle (UV). The proposed algorithm is based on the use of a simplified particle vehicle (PV) model, which includes the basic dynamics and constraints of the UV, and an iterated non-linear model predictive control (NMPC) technique that computes the optimal velocity vector (magnitude and orientation angles) that allows the PV to move towards desired targets. The computed paths are guaranteed to be feasible for any UV because: i) the PV is configured with similar characteristics (dynamics and physical constraints) as the UV, and ii) the feasibility of the optimization problem is guaranteed by the use of the iterated NMPC algorithm. As demonstration of the capabilities of the proposed path-planning algorithm, we explore several simulation examples in different scenarios. We consider the existence of static and dynamic obstacles and a follower condition.Fil: Murillo, Marina Hebe. Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    Get PDF
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    Get PDF
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
